Build Introduction

Blade Vortex Blade Vortex has always been one of the most popular skills in the game. You cast spinning blades which orbit around you and stack up to 10 times. The more times you cast it – the more frequently it hits the enemy and the more damage it deals. Here we are going to try a different approach with the Templar/Inquisitor ascendancy. With this build we will have a huge amount of damage against everything – it is a good boss killer and it has a great clear speed. We will be converting all of our damage to Elemental Damage and we will depend on severe Critical Strikes that penetrate the enemy’s resistance completely. The build has the damage to clear all of the game’s content, at the cost of our defenses. That is why we do not recommend this build for Hardcore players.

Pros & Cons

Pros

+ Very fast clear speed
+ Great league starter
+ Easy to level up
+ Great boss killer
+ Cheap gear to start with
+ Great life regeneration and life leech

Cons

- Not that durable as some other builds
- Elemental Reflect map mod is impossible

Playstyle

As mentioned above, our main skill will be Blade Vortex Blade Vortex. Mainly, our playstyle will be casting Blade Vortex Blade Vortex so we get 4-5 stacks off of it and running while everything dies around us. We will be using Flame Dash Flame Dash for extra mobility and dodging boss attacks. On bosses, we will be casting Blade Vortex Blade Vortex more times so we get the extra stacks, plus we will preferably have the Vaal version for extra damage – Vaal Blade Vortex Vaal Blade Vortex. On bosses, we can also use Vaal Righteous Fire Vaal Righteous Fire for the extra spell damage and evasion. We will also have Consecrated Ground from the Inquisitor’s ascendancy which will give us some nice life regeneration and extra damage. We will also have a decent LIfe on Kill from Assassin's Mark Assassin's Mark and we will mainly be depending on Dodge Chance to protect us.

Passive tree

Early Game

At the start of the game our Passive tree should look like this

Note: At the start, you may be lacking Dexterity for some of your skills. You should acquire it from items. Another thing to look our for is we are picking a lots of Elemental damage, however our Blade Vortex will start doing Elemental damage only once we have equipped our Hrimsorrow Hrimsorrow and Physical to Lightning Support Physical to Lightning Support.

Mid Game

In the Mid Game, our build should look something like this

End Game Passive Tree

Your end game build should look like this

Ascendancy – Inquisitor

Normal Lab – Righteous Providence

After we complete the Normal Lab we will pick Righteous Providence.

Cruel Lab – Inevitable Judgement

Inevitable Judgement is the main core of this build. It allows our Critical Strikes to completely ignore the enemy’s resistance, which means our Critical Strikes will be hitting for 100% of their damage without worrying about enemy reductions.

Merciless Lab – Sanctuary

After the Merciless Lab we will get Sanctuary. This gives us the Consecrated Ground effect while we are stationary. Since we will be casting Blade Vortex Blade Vortex while we are stationary, we will be benefiting from Consecrated Ground almost the entire time.

Note: The Consecrated Ground effect gives us 6% life regeneration and 100% increased Critical Chance against enemies standing on it.

Eternal Lab – Pious Path

Pious Path will simply improve our Consecrated Ground effect and allow it to persist longer.

Gem Links

Blade Vortex (6-link)

This should be in your chest and the main gem links are as follows.

  1. Vaal Blade Vortex Vaal Blade Vortex

  6. Hypothermia Support Hypothermia Support

Note: Another great option while leveling and if you are getting annoyed casting Blade Vortex Blade Vortex all the time is to use Unleash Support Unleash Support it works perfectly with Blade Vortex and it makes it extremely easy to get 10 stacks of Blade Vortex with it. You can also use Unleash Support Unleash Support if you are having trouble sustaining your mana.

Note #2: If we have all the passives and our items, our Area of Effect should be pretty decent, but if you feel the need you can also use Increased Area of Effect Support Increased Area of Effect Support till you get the currency for Carcass Jack Carcass Jack or passive tree increases for Area of Effect. If you are farming low level maps you can also use Increased Duration Support Increased Duration Support.

Flame Dash / (3-link)

  1. Flame Dash Flame Dash
  2. Faster Casting Support Faster Casting Support
  3. Arcane Surge Support Arcane Surge Support

Hatred

Hatred Hatred

Note: The only way we can run Hatred while having Herald of Ice and Assassin’s Mark supported by Blasphemy Support Blasphemy Support is by obtaining the Essence Worm Essence Worm item.

Note #2: Assassin's Mark Assassin's Mark gives us some extra survivability, so it is more important than Hatred Hatred. If for some reason you decide to drop one of them definitely drop Hatred.

Vaal Righteous Fire

Vaal Righteous Fire Vaal Righteous Fire

Note: We use this one only against the toughest bosses in the game.

Bandits & Pantheon

Bandits

Help Alira.

Pantheon

For a major god, the best one is Soul of Lunaris, as it would reduce the damage we take for each nearby enemy and increase our movement speed as well. We often go into huge packs, so this one should be helpful.

For a minor god, the best one is Soul of Tukohama, as it would reduce physical damage taken while stationary. Most of the time we would go inside and start casting Blade Vortex Blade Vortex and we will not be moving, so the extra physical damage reduction is great.

Gear / Items

Weapon

Using 2x Doryani's Catalyst Doryani's Catalyst is one of the best options here, as it gives us a decent amount of Crit Chance, Life leech, and Increased Elemental Damage. The only thing that beats it are Shaped Rare Maces with these stats:

  1. + % Increased Elemental Damage
  2. + % Increased Fire Damage
  3. + Gain % of Physical damage as Extra Fire Damage
  4. + % increased Critical Strike Chance for Spells
  5. + % increased Spell Damage
  6. + % increased Global Critical Strike Multiplier
  7. + % increased Critical Strike Chance for Spells

Note: If Doryani's Catalyst Doryani's Catalyst is too expensive for you, you can always start with 2x Heartbreaker Heartbreakers or Divinarius Divinarius.

Helmet

Starkonja's Head Starkonja's Head is one of the best options here and it is also pretty cheap. It gives us Critical Strike Chance, Life, and some extra Evasion.

You can also use a decent Rare Helmet with the following stats:

  1. + % total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum life
  3. + % Increased maximum life

Note: You can get an enchant from Uber Lab that increases your Blade Vortex Blade Vortex damage by 40%, but these helmets might prove to be quite expensive.

Body Armour

Our best choice here will be Carcass Jack Carcass Jack or if we want to take a more defensive approach, Loreweave Loreweave . But until you get the currency, start with a Rare, ideally 6-linked Armour with the following stats:

  1. + % total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum life

Gloves

The mandatory Unique here is Hrimsorrow Hrimsorrow, as it will help us convert our Physical damage to Elemental Damage.

Note: Enchantment Commandment of Fury from the Labyrinth will help our clear speed.

Belt

A rare belt is the best option here with the following stats:

  1. + % total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum life
  3. + % Increased Maximum Life

Boots

One of the best Boots for this build are Atziri's Step Atziri's Step, as they give us decent dodge chance, evasion and life, however a great alternative are Rare boots with these stats:

  1. + % total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum life
  3. + % Movement speed increase -
  4. + % Chance to Dodge Attack hits

Note: Enchantment – Movement Speed from the Labyrinth is great for this build, as it would increase our clear speed.

Rings

One Essence Worm Essence Worm where we will put our Hatred Hatred is pretty much mandatory, as for the other ring we are going with Rare one as it is the best option. Look for the following stats on the Rare ring:

  1. + % total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum life
  3. + % Increased Global Critical Strike Multiplier
  4. + % Increased Spell Damage

Amulet

Go for a Rare amulet with the following stats:

  1. + % total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum life
  3. + % Increased Global Critical Strike Multiplier
  4. + % Increased Spell Damage

Jewels

We are going to prioritize regular jewels over abyssal ones, and make sure they are a combination of some of the following stats:

  1. + % Increased Maximum Life
  2. + % Increased Global Critical Strike Multiplier
  3. + % Increased Spell Damage
  4. + % Increased Physical Damage
  5. + % Increased Area Damage

Flasks

Make sure you have good instant regeneration Life Flask . Make sure you have Freezing removal (of Heat), Burning removal (Dousing), and Bleeding removal (of Staunching) effects on your flasks, % life regenerated per second while under flask effect is also a good modifier to have. Atziri's Promise Atziri's Promise will increase our damage a lot against bosses. A diamond flask is great to have as it increases our crit chance – try to get one with increased duration support. A Quicksilver Flask is great to increase our clear speed.

Be sure to check out our Flask Crafting Guide to learn everything you need to know about how to set up your non-Unique flasks.

Leveling

As a reminder, we have several guides to help you level up a character.

This build is great for leveling up as we will be obtaining our Blade Vortex Blade Vortex on level 12. Before that you can level up with any spell you want; Freezing Pulse Freezing Pulse is great until you reach level 12. Equip your Hrimsorrow Hrimsorrow at level 9.

At level 12 start using Blade Vortex Blade Vortex and link it with Added Fire Damage Support Added Fire Damage Support for the extra damage. At level 16 you will get Herald of Ice Herald of Ice for the extra damage.

The next thing you want is to link your Blade Vortex with Faster Casting Support Faster Casting Support as well. Reverberation Rod Reverberation Rod is great early leveling unique as it will allow us to use Spell Echo Support Spell Echo Support with Blade Vortex. On level 31 you can now start using your Assassin's Mark Assassin's Mark plus Blasphemy Support Blasphemy Support combo, which will improve our leveling experience drastically. On level 38 we recommend you to link Blade Vortex Blade Vortex with Unleash Support Unleash Support and Increased Critical Damage Support Increased Critical Damage Support for smoother gameplay.

Praxis Praxis is a great leveling unique, as it reduces the Mana cost of our Blade Vortex Blade Vortex.

As always make sure you upgrade your gear to get more Elemental Resistances, Life & Spell Damage.

At level 38 we can equip our Essence Worm Essence Worm, if we have it, with Hatred Hatred.

At level 50 you can get 2x Heartbreaker Heartbreaker, as it is pretty cheap and will increase our damage tremendously.

Recommended leveling uniques:

Conclusion

This build’s damage is insane with almost unlimited potential, however the side effect is our defenses will not be that impressive as we will be depending mainly on Dodge Chance.

Hey, unfortunately no. You can’t do Uber Elder and some other hard content. The build is best utilized as a league starter. Since the Legion League is almost over I recommend you check another build. If you want to clear the entire game content please check out the the other build guides that have the ,, Uber Elder ‘’ tag in them. Personally I’d recommend if you are a new player for you to check out some of the Cyclone builds since they are beginner friendly and are pretty strong right now plus they can do the entire content.
