Introduction

The Doomfletch's Prism Doomfletch's Prism Blast Rain Blast Rain Berserker excels at dealing extreme amounts of Elemental damage by stacking a lot of Physical damage, which is then gained as extra damage of each Element. This essentially means that if you deal 100 Physical damage, you will also deal 100 Cold, 100 Fire, and 100 Lightning damage with the same hit. This means scaling a good amount of Physical damage will result in extreme damage gained as extra Elemental.

Although you can choose a different Bow skill for this build concept, we decided to go with Blast Rain Blast Rain simply because it has an amazing single target potential while also maintaining decent clear speed, and it also has full conversion to Elemental, which allows you to run Physical Reflect maps.

The Berserker ascendancy class provides a lot of extra damage in the form of flat Physical damage from Flawless Savagery, the 40% Global multiplier to damage via Aspect of Carnage, and all the speed and damage modifiers the Rage nodes provide.

The downside of the build is survivability and mainly damage mitigation. In order to survive, we depend on our decent Life pool, Dodge and Evasion chance, and the clever use of defensive skills like Steelskin Steelskin and Vaal Grace Vaal Grace.

Build Summary

The build’s only requirement is the Doomfletch's Prism Doomfletch's Prism, which is a fated version of the regular Doomfletch Doomfletch unique Bow. The Bow is upgraded by using the Ancient Doom Ancient Doom Prophecy. You can buy the Bow off the market or upgrade it yourself; the process is very easy and not expensive. Lioneye's Fall Lioneye's Fall allows us to pick up very efficient Critical and Leech nodes and should also be acquired as soon as possible. Besides that, we focus on stacking a lot of Physical damage added to Attacks on Quiver, Rings, Amulet, and Abyssal jewels.

Pros & Cons

Pros

+ Hardcore viable
+ Great single target damage
+ Most enemies will not reach you due to your long range and constant Critical Strikes that freeze everything

Cons

- Mediocre clear speed
- Bad Physical damage mitigation

Playstyle

Offensively, dropping a single Blast Rain Blast Rain on a pack of monsters will be enough to obliterate it. Staying aggressive will prove to be very efficient, since you will start losing Rage otherwise. Berserk Berserk can be used whenever you need to melt down a tough enemy’ life pool quickly. You can utilize Point Blank whenever it is safe to get near targets.

Defensively, keeping your distance in such a build is very important. Steelskin Steelskin and Vaal Grace Vaal Grace should be used in sticky situations. A Decoy Totem Decoy Totem will distract enemies while you deal tons of damage from distance.

For playstyle, you should stay aggressive and keep in mind you have a lot of defensive power through your utility skills. The build has decent Life and Mana leech, so you will not have any issues with sustain.

Ascendancy, Passive tree, Bandits and Pantheons

Ascendancy (Marauder – Berserker)

  1. Flawless Savagery
  2. Aspect of Carnage
  3. Crave the Slaughter
  4. Rite of Ruin

Flawless Savagery provides a great amount of flat Physical damage, which is very important for the build; the Critical modifiers also help a great deal.

Aspect of Carnage is a global modifier to your damage done. It also increase your damage taken by 10%, which is the downside of this ascendancy node.

Crave the Slaughter allows you to start generating Rage, which improves your overall speed and damage.

Rite of Ruin triples the effect of Rage and makes you immune to Stun if you have at least 25 Rage; the downside of the node is the degeneration effect, which is mitigated by our Life Regeneration.

Passive tree

This is the endgame passive skill tree for the build. You have the option to drop some damage in order to pick more Life, which will result in more than 210% increased maximum Life on the passive skill tree, which is very respectable. This tree is designed with having Lioneye's Fall Lioneye's Fall in mind; if you do not have the jewel, simply drop that jewel socket and all the Claw nodes around it and pick more Life and damage elsewhere.

Bandits

As in every Critical-based build, we recommend helping Alira for the additional Critical Multiplier, 15% to all resistances and Mana Regeneration. These stats are relatively strong, you can also choose to kill all if you have very good gear.

Pantheons

Major: Soul of Lunaris is a great Pantheon choice for the build, as it provides important Movement Speed along with additional Physical damage mitigation.

Minor: Soul of Shakari – Poison immunity is always a good addition to a build. Other minor gods can be chosen depending on personal preference. Soul of Ralakesh allows you to become Maim and Blind immune, which is very good when playing an Attack-Critical-based build, and it also reduces your Physical damage taken over time, which is good against Bleeds and traps in The Labyrinth.

Pantheon powers can be upgraded by using Divine Vessel in the Map Device while you are activating the particular Map that contains the boss you need. Once you’ve killed the boss and captured his soul, you need to deliver the vessel to Sin in Oriath.

Gems

For all the gem links we provide below, keep in mind that we list the gems in order of priority, meaning that if you lack the required number of sockets to fit all the gems, the first ones to drop are the ones at the bottom. Also note that in-game, as long as the sockets are linked, it makes no difference at all what order the gems are placed in.

Blast Rain Blast Rain is your signature skill, which should ideally be used in a 6-Link. For mobility, use Blink Arrow Blink Arrow. For Mana reservation skills you should use Herald of Purity Herald of Purity, Flesh and Stone Flesh and Stone, and Precision Precision. Berserk Berserk can be used in order to gain a nice burst of damage and defense for a short duration. Decoy Totem Decoy Totem can be very handy in some situations. For additional defense, you should use Steelskin Steelskin and Vaal Grace Vaal Grace.

You can use Summon Ice Golem Summon Ice Golem for the additional Critical Chance and Accuracy Rating.

Gearing

Capping your elemental resistances is essential and it should always be your top priority in any build; it should be the first thing you do when gearing up a character. Obtaining a 6-link, while very powerful and certainly recommended, can potentially be very expensive (requiring an average of 1500 Orbs of Fusing, obviously depending on your luck); as such, this should not really be a goal for you while gearing up, and you should instead settle for a 5-link until you have enough resources.

Helmet

A well rolled rare Helmet is best in slot for the build. Unique Helmets like Starkonja's Head Starkonja's Head and Rat's Nest Rat's Nest can also be used. For Labyrinth enchant, you should look for “Blast Rain Blast Rain has a 75% Chance for an Additional Blast”. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (90)
  3. % Increased Maximum life (Pristine Fossil Pristine Fossil)

Body Armour

A Loreweave Loreweave is a great choice for the build due to how important flat Physical damage is. You can also make use of Kaom's Heart Kaom's Heart if you have your 6-Link in the Bow. Other unique Body Armours, such as Belly of the Beast Belly of the Beast, can be used. A rare Body Armour will also do the work. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (90)
  3. % Increased Maximum life (Pristine Fossil Pristine Fossil; Elder Prefix)
  4. Attacks have +#% to Critical Strike Chance (Elder Suffix)

Gloves

Oskarm Oskarm is very good budget pair of Gloves for the build. Tombfist Tombfist can also provide a great amount of damage via the Abyssal sockets. A rare pair of Gloves can also be used. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (90)
  3. Adds # to # Physical damage to Attacks
  4. % Increased Attack speed

Well rolled Steel Ring Steel Rings are best in slot. If you choose to drop Oskarm Oskarm, you can acquire a ring with the “Curse enemies with level # Assassin's Mark Assassin's Mark on Hit” Shaper ring, but this can be expensive. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (50)
  3. Adds # to # Physical damage to Attacks
  4. % increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills (at least 20%)

Weapon

The build is using the irreplaceable Doomfletch's Prism Doomfletch's Prism.

Flasks

As in every Critical-based build, a Diamond Flask Diamond Flask is mandatory. Instant or half instant Life flask is also very important to have. A Quicksilver Flask Quicksilver Flask will improve your mobility by a considerable amount. The Wise Oak The Wise Oak can be utilized for the additional Penetration; this flask can be very powerful if you manage to triple-balance your resistances. Other utility flasks like Basalt Flask Basalt Flask, Silver Flask Silver Flask, Stibnite Flask Stibnite Flask, and Jade Flask Jade Flask can be used.

Note: Make sure to have Bleed (of Staunching) and Freeze (of Heat) immunity on your non-unique flasks.

Be sure to check out our Flask Crafting Guide to learn everything you need to know about how to set up your non-Unique flasks.

Jewels

There are no mandatory jewels for the build although we strongly recommend having a Lioneye's Fall Lioneye's Fall. A Watcher's Eye Watcher's Eye with Precision Precision mods can also be used. Besides that, you should only use Abyssal jewels due to how strong they are compared to regular rare jewels.

Rare Abyssal Jewels Affix Priority

  1. +# to maximum Life
  2. Adds # to # Physical Damage to Bow Attacks
  3. Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks
  4. % chance to gain Onslaught for 4 seconds on Kill

Leveling

As a reminder, we have several guides to help you level up a character.

The character can be leveled really fast and easy if you have a few leveling unique items.

Leveling Trees

This is the early version of the passive skill tree you should be using, as in every other Critical-based build, we recommend investing into Critical nodes after level 55-60.

Useful Leveling Unique Items

As you begin a new character, there are few unique items that can boost your power exponentially. Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa allows you to have a 6-Linked skill as early as you get the gems. Wanderlust Wanderlust gives a decent movement speed, which will make your leveling that much more efficient. Goldrim Goldrim provides a lot of elemental resistances, this will let you worry less about gearing when approaching certain Act encounters. A simple Storm Cloud Storm Cloud will carry you up to level 40, when you can finally start using Doomfletch's Prism Doomfletch's Prism.

If you are a new player (or if this is your first character for the league), then note that obtaining these items will be very difficult, if not impossible. They are rare drops, which you can otherwise only acquire if you have saved up currency, so do not focus on them too much, and instead simply look for items that match the affix priorities listed in the gearing section above.

Gem Progression

Using Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa will allow you to have 6-Link gem setups early on, which is why we show such examples below. If you cannot get Tabula Rasa (or another item with a 6-Link), then simply prioritize the first gems in each link provided below.

In order to acquire gems that are not available to your class as a quest reward, simply ask a friend to buy them off vendors for you, or buy them yourself from Sioasa in The Library in Act III Library.

Conclusion

Changelog
  •

Revisited and updated for Blight 3.8. The build received a very slight nerf with the Flawless Savagery change. Overall you lose a very little amount of Critical Chance, which does not stop you at all from inflicting immense amounts of damage.
