Galvanic Arrow & Lightning Arrow Inquisitor Build Guide (PoE Delirium 3.10)

This build is not updated for the current patch, but we have evaluated it and we consider it to still work as intended. You can try it out, but you may find slight differences between this guide and the current game state. Although viable, this build is not considered strong enough to be an optimal play choice during this league.

Guide Format

This build guide is split over multiple pages, both to prevent it from getting too long, as well as to help you better find the information you are looking for. In addition to the current page, which presents general information about the build and also contains a Leveling and FAQ section, we have the following pages:

Introduction

The Inquisitor ascendancy class is not your ordinary choice when it comes to Bow builds. In this guide we utilize the Inquisitor in order to penetrate enemies’ resistances via Inevitable Judgement. The build uses Lightning Arrow Lightning Arrow for clearing and Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow for single target damage output.

Windripper Windripper is one of the best choices for the build, since it has great Attack Speed and Critical Chance, and the elemental damage it provides is also very decent. The build scales very well with gear, which can be expensive later on, which is why it is not budget-friendly.

Realistically, Galvanic Arrow & Lightning Arrow Inquisitor has the potential to clear any content in the game. In the endgame, you will be able to achieve at least 6,5K Life while also using Acrobatics.

Build Summary

The bulk of the damage for the build comes from gear, although even on a low budget you can do fine since you will get enough damage from auras/buffs for early maps. Windripper Windripper is one of the best choices for the Weapon slot. Since you need a second link on Lightning Arrow Lightning Arrow only for clearing; you can swap your Body Armour with Kaom's Heart Kaom's Heart for additional survivability when facing tough bosses.

Pros & Cons

Pros

+ Hardcore viable
+ Fun playstyle
+ Decent clear speed

Cons

- Can be expensive

Playstyle

Offensively, one or two shots of Lightning Arrow Lightning Arrow will be enough to clear most monster packs. When fighting tough foes, staying near them will ensure you will melt them with Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow, while also utilizing the Point Blank keystone notable. Keeping up Blood Rage Blood Rage will increase your clear speed further.

Defensively, you will mostly rely on Acrobatics and your decent Life pool for survivability. Vaal Grace Vaal Grace can be used for the additional Dodge Chance in sticky situations. Decoy Totem Decoy Totem will take the pressure off you for certain duration.

For Playstyle, having good uptime on your Diamond flask will ensure you deal the maximum amount of damage, since it is very important to Critically Strike with this build. Use Lightning Arrow Lightning Arrow for clearing and stay near bosses and shotgun them with Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow.

Passive tree

Here is the endgame passive skill tree, which can be modified based on personal preference. The two main keystone notables we pick are Point Blank and Acrobatics. Besides that we focus on Life, efficient Bow and Accuracy nodes. A single point in Mana Leech near the Ranger solves our Mana problems.

For more information, be sure to check out the passive skill tree page.

Ascendancy, Bandits, and Pantheons

Our Ascendancy, Bandit, and Pantheon Power page goes into detail about all the choices you need to make in these regards.

Gems

We go over all of the gem links this build uses in the end-game on our Gem Link page.

Gem Link Page

Gear Summary / TL;DR

These items provide a good balance between offense and defense and are enough to deal with the endgame, although there is definitely a room for improvement. Please ensure you read the Gear, Jewels and Flasks page in its entirety.

Leveling

As a reminder, we have several guides to help you level up a character.

The build can be leveled with some unique Bows easily, by using Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow all the way.

Leveling Trees

The early passive skill tree is very straight forward. You should start by going for Acrobatics, picking all the Life and damage on the way. Once you have Windripper Windripper equipped, you can start investing into Critical Strike nodes.

Useful Leveling Unique Items

As you begin a new character, there are few unique items that can boost your power exponentially. Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa allows you to have a 6-Linked skill as early as you get the gems. Wanderlust Wanderlust gives a decent movement speed, which will make your leveling that much more efficient. Goldrim Goldrim provides a lot of elemental resistances, this will let you worry less about gearing when approaching certain Act encounters. Storm Cloud Storm Cloud and The Tempest The Tempest will provide enough damage in order to deal with the game content up until you are ready to equip Windripper Windripper.

If you are a new player (or if this is your first character for the league), then note that obtaining these items will be very difficult, if not impossible. They are rare drops, which you can otherwise only acquire if you have saved up currency, so do not focus on them too much, and instead simply look for items that match the affix priorities listed in the gearing section above.

Gem Progression

Using Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa will allow you to have 6-Link gem setups early on, which is why we show such examples below. If you cannot get Tabula Rasa (or another item with a 6-Link), then simply prioritize the first gems in each link provided below.

In order to acquire gems that are not available to your class as a quest reward, simply ask a friend to buy them off vendors for you, or buy them yourself from Sioasa in The Library in Act III Library.

From level 1, you should use the following link.

  1. Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow
  2. Onslaught Support Onslaught Support

At level 4, you should pick Decoy Totem Decoy Totem.

At level 8, your Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow should look like this.

  1. Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow
  2. Pierce Support Pierce Support
  3. Added Cold Damage Support Added Cold Damage Support
  4. Added Lightning Damage Support Added Lightning Damage Support
  5. Onslaught Support Onslaught Support

At level 10, you should pick Blink Arrow Blink Arrow for additional mobility.

At level 16, you should add Herald of Ice Herald of Ice for additional damage.

By level 18, your Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow should look like this.

  1. Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow
  2. Pierce Support Pierce Support
  3. Added Lightning Damage Support Added Lightning Damage Support
  4. Elemental Damage with Attacks Support Elemental Damage with Attacks Support
  5. Elemental Focus Support Elemental Focus Support
  6. Faster Attacks Support Faster Attacks Support

At level 24, you should add Anger Anger for more consistent damage.

FAQ

What map mods are impossible to do?

Elemental reflect is impossible to do. No regeneration is also very tough.

Conclusion

Penetrate enemies’ resistance with your powerful elemental shots by playing the Galvanic Arrow & Lightning Arrow Inquisitor.

Changelog
  •

Revisited and updated for Delirium 3.10. The build remains solid and should fit great into the new clear speed Meta.

  •

Revisited for Metamorph 3.9. The rework of Shrapnel Shot into Galvanic Arrow improves the build's single target damage output even further, this is a big buff.

  •

Updated for Blight 3.8. Lightning Arrow now has added Lightning Damage to attacks depending on the gem level (previously had none), which is a very good buff for the build.

  •

Hey, the reason we pick the Claw nodes is because we turn them into Bow nodes via Lioneye's Fall Lioneye's Fall.

Hey NikerMan, we are heavily invested into keeping the builds fresh and updated. Sadly we do not create PoB links at the moment.

is scaling shock thru passives and gear (stuff like Shocking Strikes, Force Shaper and Voltaxic Rift) worth it for such a build?

Not really, focus on dealing great amounts of damage and the effectiveness of Shock will be raised indirectly.

Hey, Inspiration Support Inspiration Support is a good idea for the build. Innervate Support Innervate Support provides a speed boost but when it comes to overall damage it provides it is heavily outclassed by other support gems. We do not use Physical to Lightning Support Physical to Lightning Support because we mainly scale our Elemental damage by acquiring it from “Added” sources and not conversion ones. Besically we do not scale any Physical and using the gem would be very inneficient. Thank you for the kind feedback.

Hey, it is inefficient to use Voltaxic Rift Voltaxic Rift simply because the build’s main idea is to penetrate monster Elemental resistances.

    Hi,

First off, thank you very much for posting this build. It’s my first ever season in PoE and I’m having a blast with this!

I seem to be hitting a wall though in terms of tackling the endgame bosses. Is there a general DPS range I’m supposed to hit to make these fights shorter/easier?

Other questions include: Preferred annointment on amulet? I also noticed that they took out the double damage galvanic arrow gem – is the skill still viable after that?

Hey, thank you for the kind feedback. Although the threshold Jewel got taken out of the game this is compensated by the skill’s rework. Each attack fires multiple projectiles, which are able to hit one target simultaneously. If you provide a link to your PoE profile I’d be glad to help out with gearing and improving your damage output overall.

Hey, you should start using 6-Links. The Jewel in your Belt is pretty bad and should be replaced. You have two 1-point Jewels that should be picked, generally look for Flat Life and Added Cold/Lightning to Attacks or ATS with Bows. The rest of your gear is somewhat alright. Keep in mind when damaging tough bosses that Galvanic Arrow Galvanic Arrow “shotguns” now and in order to deal maximum amount of damage you need to stand near targets if possible.
