Kinetic Blast Deadeye Build Guide (PoE Blight 3.8)

Introduction

The Kinetic Blast Deadeye is a character that is specifically built to clear as fast as possible. While the build’s clear is one of the best in the game considering its low budget, it has low single target damage output. The character is an attack-based Wander that mainly gains its damage via Esh's Mirror Esh's Mirror; this unique Shield allows you to reach immense amounts of added Lightning damage as long as you have an active playstyle and deal enough Lightning damage to Shock enemies.

Build Summary

The build is a great choice when it comes to farming content early in the league, simply because you will do it way more efficiently than most of the builds out there, which will allow you to stack up on a lot of currency. The build has several recommended items that greatly augment it, although you can play without them too. Esh's Mirror Esh's Mirror is what makes the build very powerful and basically allows you to one-shot several packs of monsters with a single attack. Considering we are stacking a lot of Evasion Rating, Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest will allow us to reach very high Movement Speed. Piscator's Vigil Piscator's Vigil is a great unique Wand that is simply perfect for every Elemental damage stacking attack-based Wander. A simple Thunderfist Thunderfist will allow you to run on a budget 5-Link early on. Devoto's Devotion Devoto's Devotion will improve your clear speed potential even further.

Pros & Cons

Pros

+ Hardcore viable
+ One of the best clear speeds in the game
+ Can be an insane MF character (but requires a lot of investment)
+ Active playstyle, fun to play

Cons

- The build basically is tailored around the idea of clearing as fast as possible and has little to no single target damage

Playstyle

Offensively, being as aggressive as possible will ensure you get an amazing amount of Lightning damage added to attacks via Esh's Mirror Esh's Mirror. Considering we are playing Deadeye and acquiring Far Shot, we should preferably attack from afar for maximum damage output.

Defensively, the build reaches vast amounts of Evasion Rating, which works great in combination with Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics. The Kinetic Blast Deadeye also acquires a lot of reliable Life leech and a decent amount of Life on the passive tree. Decoy Totem Decoy Totem will distract enemies and help you get them close to walls, which will ease the single target fights by a considerable amount.

For playstyle, attacking once or twice and moving forward is what you should be mainly doing. Stacking the extra damage from Esh's Mirror Esh's Mirror will allow you to have enough damage to clear even if your other gear is still bad. Blood Rage Blood Rage will provide more damage if you are comfortable with using the skill without purely sustaining the degeneration effect with Life Regeneration (you may not want to use it at all if you choose to utilize Damage on Full Life Support Damage on Full Life Support).

Ascendancy, Passive Tree , Bandits, and Pantheons

Ascendancy (Ranger – Deadeye)

  1. Gathering Winds
  2. Far Shot
  3. Endless Munitions
  4. Fast and Deadly

Gathering Winds essentially multiplies the action speed of your character based on how many actions you’ve performed in the past 4 seconds; the more active you are, the faster you become.

Far Shot provides a More damage multiplier to your projectiles, depending on how far they’ve travelled (maximum is 30%). This is basically a reversed Point Blank Support Point Blank Support.

Endless Munitions synergizes very well with Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast in general, as providing additional area of effect allows the explosion to overlap and deal extra damage; the additional projectile and flat Accuracy Rating is also very handy.

For the Uber Labyrinth we have several options. Fast and Deadly is very likely to be our best bet, as the character is Critical-based and it is very important to have high amount of Accuracy Rating. The other perks of this node are also very strong offensively. Powerful Precision and Rupture are your other two options, which can be used in specific situations by more experienced players.

Passive Tree

This is the endgame passive skill tree. The main key notables the build uses are Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics, and besides that we focus on picking all the efficient Life, Critical, and Wand nodes on the passive tree. Piercing Shots allows you to drop Pierce Support Pierce Support from your Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast setup, essentially improving your damage while clearing by a considerable amount.

Bandits

For this specific build we should help Alira in Act II. The Critical Multiplier and 15% all elemental resistances are stronger than the 2 passive skill points.

Pantheons

Major: Soul of the Brine King helps you avoid getting chain-stunned. Others can be used based on personal preference.

Minor: Soul of Shakari makes you immune to poison damage if you upgrade it. Soul of Ralakesh is always a viable choice when it comes to doing labyrinth runs.

Pantheon powers can be upgraded by using Divine Vessel in the Map Device while you are activating the particular Map that contains the boss you need. Once you’ve killed the boss and captured his soul, you need to deliver the vessel to Sin in Oriath.

Gems

Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast is our signature skill, which should ideally be used in a 6-Link. For mobility, use Dash Dash. Steelskin Steelskin should be used in hairy situations in order to mitigate damage. When it comes to Mana reservation buffs, we strongly recommend Wrath Wrath. Here are some other options that should be considered for additional buffs: Herald of Ice Herald of Ice, Grace Grace, Precision Precision, Arctic Armour Arctic Armour, Anger Anger, or Herald of Thunder Herald of Thunder. Decoy Totem Decoy Totem can be used in order to pin enemies next to walls, which will allow you to unleash a great amount of extra damage via the Kinetic Blast explosions.

For all the gem links we provide below, keep in mind that we list the gems in order of priority, meaning that if you lack the required number of sockets to fit all the gems, the first ones to drop are the ones at the bottom. Also note that in-game, as long as the sockets are linked, it makes no difference at all what order the gems are placed in.

Kinetic Blast (6-Link)

Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast is our only damaging ability. It is a Wand attack that creates ground explosions once it hits the target. The main idea of the build is to hit several mobs with a single projectile by piercing them, simply because a new set of explosions is created every time the projectile hits a new monster. This can result in tens to hundreds of explosions from a single Kinetic Blast attack when combined with Piercing Shots (passive node) and Greater Multiple Projectiles Support Greater Multiple Projectiles Support.

  1. Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast
  2. Greater Multiple Projectiles Support Greater Multiple Projectiles Support
  3. Elemental Damage with Attacks Support Elemental Damage with Attacks Support
  4. Damage on Full Life Support Damage on Full Life Support
  5. Added Cold Damage Support Added Cold Damage Support
  6. Added Lightning Damage Support Added Lightning Damage Support

Other Gems

Wrath Wrath should be used in order to reserve Mana. Due to how mobile the character is, you will only need a simple Dash Dash for additional mobility. A Decoy Totem Decoy Totem can be used in order to distract enemies while you damage them. Steelskin Steelskin can be used for additional damage mitigation.

Gearing

Capping your elemental resistances is essential and it should always be your top priority in any build; it should be the first thing you do when gearing up a character. Obtaining a 6-link, while very powerful and certainly recommended, can potentially be very expensive (requiring an average of 1500 Orbs of Fusing, obviously depending on your luck); as such, this should not really be a goal for you while gearing up, and you should instead settle for a 5-link until you have enough resources.

Helmet

A number of unique Helmets can be used with this particular build. Devoto's Devotion Devoto's Devotion provides a great amount of Movement Speed. Starkonja's Head Starkonja's Head has a good amount of Life along with great Evasion Rating, Attack Speed, and Critical Chance. Rat's Nest Rat's Nest can also be used. For the labyrinth enchant, look for “Kinetic Blast has a 75% chance for an additional explosion”. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. +#% to Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to Maximum Life (at least 80)
  3. % increased Maximum Life (Pristine Fossil Pristine Fossil)
  4. # to Dexterity; Strength
  5. +#% to Chaos Resistance

Body Armour

Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest is one of the best Body Armours for this particular build. A well rolled rare Body Armour can also be used. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. +#% to Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to Maximum Life (at least 80)
  3. % increased Maximum Life (Elder Prefix; Pristine Fossil Pristine Fossil)

  1. +#% to Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to Maximum Life (at least 80)
  3. Adds # to # Cold Damage
  4. Adds # to # Lightning Damage
  5. Adds # to # Fire Damage

Boots

Well-rolled rare Boots are best in slot. Atziri's Step Atziri's Step can also be used. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. +#% to Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. % increased Movement Speed (at least 20-25%)
  3. +# to Maximum Life (at least 80)
  4. +#% to Chaos Resistance

  2. +# to Maximum Life (at least 80)
  3. % increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills
  4. % increased Elemental Damage (Prismatic Fossil Prismatic Fossil)

Amulet

We are looking for a rare Amulet. If you choose to go for the Magic Find route, look for Bisco's Collar Bisco's Collar or a Shaper-based rare Amulet with “% increased Quantity of Items found”. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. +#% to Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to Maximum Life (at least 50)
  3. % increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills
  4. % increased Quantity of Items found (Shaper Suffix; Tier1 requires iLvl85)
  5. % to Global Critical Strike Multiplier (at least 20%)
  6. Flat amount of elemental damage added to attacks

Rings

For the Magic Find version of the build go with two Ventor's Gamble Ventor's Gamble, the main stat you are looking for is high % increased Quantity of Items found, preferably 8%+. If you simply want to clear fast and efficiently, look for well rolled rare rings, a Shaper base with “Curse Enemies with Level # Assassin’s Mark on Hit” is a great addition to the build. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. +#% to Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to Maximum Life (at least 50)
  3. % increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills
  4. Flat amount of elemental damage added to attacks

Weapon

Piscator's Vigil Piscator's Vigil is a budget-friendly unique Wand that can easily be your endgame weapon. Outclassing this unique with a well rolled rare Wand will take a lot of effort and is definitely not worth investing into if your other gear pieces are not upgraded first. The Rare affix priority is:

  1. % increased Critical Strike Chance (at least 8%)
  2. % increased Attack Speed
  3. Damage Penetrates #% Elemental Resistances (Shaper Suffix)
  4. Adds # to # Cold Damage
  5. Adds # to # Lightning Damage
  6. Adds # to # Fire Damage

Shield

Esh's Mirror Esh's Mirror is where the build’s bulk of damage comes from and should be acquired as soon as possible. Before that look for an Evasion-based Shield with Life and resistances.

Flasks

Diamond Flask Diamond Flask is mandatory in every Critical-based build, this is a good flask to have Curse or Freeze immunity on. Atziri's Promise Atziri's Promise brings survivability with the 35% Chaos Resistance along with a lot of damage. Divine Life Flask Divine Life Flask is where we should roll Bleed Immunity and Instant Recovery. Quicksilver Flask Quicksilver Flask will improve your mobility even further. Basalt Flask Basalt Flask, Jade Flask Jade Flask, Stibnite Flask Stibnite Flask and Quartz Flask Quartz Flask are all great utility flasks that the build can make great use of. Make sure you have Bleed, Freeze and Curse immunity rolled on your flasks.

Be sure to check out our Flask Crafting Guide to learn everything you need to know about how to set up your non-Unique flasks.

Jewels

There are no mandatory Jewels for the build. Watcher's Eye Watcher's Eye with Wrath Wrath mods is the endgame goal, but it can get very expensive. You should prioritize Abyssal Jewels over regular ones due to the nature of the build.

Regular Jewel Affix Priority

  1. % increased Maximum Life
  2. % increased Damage
  3. % increased Mine Damage
  4. % increased Critical Multiplier

Abyssal Jewel Affix Priority

  1. +# to maximum Life
  2. Adds # to # Cold Damage to Wand Attacks
  3. Adds # to # Lightning Damage to Wand Attacks
  4. Adds # to # Fire Damage to Wand Attacks
  5. Adds # to # Cold Damage to Attacks
  6. Adds # to # Lightning Damage to Attacks
  7. Adds # to # Fire Damage to Attacks

Leveling

As a reminder, we have several guides to help you level up a character.

The character should be leveled with Bows early on due to how clunky Wand attack skills feel.

Leveling Passive Trees

This is what your passive skill tree should look like around level 50.

Considering you will probably be leveling with a unique Bow like Storm Cloud Storm Cloud and The Tempest The Tempest we do not need many damage nodes in order to get through the content.

Useful leveling uniques

As you begin a new character there are few unique items that can boost your power exponentially. Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa allows you to have a 6-Linked skill as early as you get the gems. Wanderlust Wanderlust gives a decent movement speed, which will make your leveling that much more efficient. Goldrim Goldrim provides a lot of elemental resistances, this will let you worry less about gearing when approaching certain Act encounters.

Gem Progression

Using Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa will allow you to have 6-Link gem setups early on, which is why we show such examples below. If you cannot get Tabula Rasa (or another item with a 6-Link), then simply prioritize the first gems in each link provided below.

In order to acquire gems that are not available to your class as a quest reward, simply ask a friend to buy them off vendors for you, or buy them yourself from Sioasa in The Library in Act III Library.

From level 1, you should use the following link.

  1. Ice Shot Ice Shot
  2. Pierce Support Pierce Support
  3. Onslaught Support Onslaught Support

At level 4, you should pick Decoy Totem Decoy Totem, Dash Dash and Steelskin Steelskin.

By level 8, your Ice Shot Ice Shot should look like this.

  1. Ice Shot Ice Shot
  2. Lesser Multiple Projectiles Support Lesser Multiple Projectiles Support
  3. Pierce Support Pierce Support
  4. Onslaught Support Onslaught Support
  5. Added Cold Damage Support Added Cold Damage Support
  6. Added Lightning Damage Support Added Lightning Damage Support

At level 10, you should get Blink Arrow Blink Arrow for additional mobility, along with Precision Precision.

At level 12, you should drop your Ice Shot Ice Shot for the following Vaal Rain of Arrows Vaal Rain of Arrows gem setup.

  1. Vaal Rain of Arrows Vaal Rain of Arrows
  2. Onslaught Support Onslaught Support
  3. Added Cold Damage Support Added Cold Damage Support
  4. Added Lightning Damage Support Added Lightning Damage Support

At level 16, you should pick Herald of Ice Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder Herald of Thunder.

  1. Vaal Rain of Arrows Vaal Rain of Arrows
  2. Onslaught Support Onslaught Support
  3. Elemental Damage with Attacks Support Elemental Damage with Attacks Support
  4. Elemental Focus Support Elemental Focus Support
  5. Added Cold Damage Support Added Cold Damage Support
  6. Added Lightning Damage Support Added Lightning Damage Support

FAQ

What map mods should be avoided?

No Regeneration maps are doable but very nasty to deal with. Elemental Reflect cannot be done.

Conclusion

The Kinetic Blast Deadeye is a great candidate when it comes to choosing a fast-clearing or even Magic Finding build. The build excels at clearing content fast but has very low boss-fighting potential.

Changelog

Hey, “Kinetic Blast has a 75% chance for an additional explosion” is the best choice at the moment.
