Guide Format

This build guide is split over multiple pages, both to prevent it from getting too long, as well as to help you better find the information you are looking for. In addition to the current page, which presents general information about the build and also contains a Leveling and FAQ section, we have the following pages:

Introduction

The Storm Call Inquisitor is a type of caster that excels at dealing great amounts of elemental damage bursts that penetrate enemies’ elemental resistances. We achieve that by picking up the Inevitable Judgement ascendancy node, which allows us to penetrate enemies’ resistance every time we land a Critical Strike.

Storm Call Storm Call is an area Lightning spell that deals damage after a short duration. The skill has great base Critical Chance, very useful Vaal version and a respectable area coverage.

Build Summary

The build is very budget-friendly with the option to invest into later on. With gear we focus on getting as much Life, Critical modifiers and Spell damage as possible. Carcass Jack Carcass Jack is a great unique Body Armour that increase both of your offense and defense.

Pros & Cons

Pros

+ Hardcore viable
+ Budget-friendly
+ Fun and active playstyle

Cons

- Cannot do Elemental Reflect

Playstyle

Offensively, dropping one or two casts of Storm Call Storm Call will be enough to obliterate everything in your path. When you encounter a tough foe, Vaal Storm Call Vaal Storm Call will help out with the single target damage by a great deal. An Orb of Storms Orb of Storms gem setup will allow you to gain Power charges on demand.

Defensively, keeping your distance is very important, since the build’s damage mitigation is on the low end.

For playstyle, having good uptime on your Flasks will ensure you have a decent amount of additional damage output and damage mitigation. Dropping a cast or two upon packs of monsters and moving on via Whirling Blades Whirling Blades or any other mobility skill is what you should be doing. The build can also utilize Vaal Haste Vaal Haste or Vaal Grace Vaal Grace.

Passive tree

This is the endgame version of the passive tree.

For more information, be sure to check out the Passive Skill Tree page.

Ascendancy, Bandits, and Pantheons

Our Ascendancy, Bandit, and Pantheon Power page goes into detail about all the choices you need to make in these regards.

Gems

We go over all of the gem links this build uses in the end-game on our Gem Link page.

Gear Summary / TL;DR

These items provide a good balance between offense and defense and are enough to deal with the endgame, although there is definitely a room for improvement. Please ensure you read the Gear, Jewels and Flasks page in its entirety.

Our recommendation:

Item Slot Item Name
Head Rare Helmet
Amulet Rare Amulet
Chest Carcass Jack Carcass Jack
Gloves Rare Gloves
Boots Rare Boots
Belt Rare Stygian Vise Stygian Vise
Rings Rare Rings
Weapon 2x Rare Rune Daggers

Leveling

As a reminder, we have several guides to help you level up a character.

The Storm Call Inquisitor can be leveled with its signature skill since level 12. You can also choose to level with any other spell based on personal preference.

Leveling Trees

The Inquisitor allows for very smooth transition into Critical Strikes from early levels. With this passive skill tree you can be fully invested in Critical Strikes by level 65-70. If you want to be more safe, you can always pick more Life instead and go for Critical Strikes later on.

Useful Leveling Unique Items

As you begin a new character, there are few unique items that can boost your power exponentially. Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa allows you to have a 6-Linked skill as early as you get the gems. Wanderlust Wanderlust gives a decent movement speed, which will make your leveling that much more efficient. Goldrim Goldrim provides a lot of elemental resistances, this will let you worry less about gearing when approaching certain Act encounters. A simple set of Axiom Perpetuum Axiom Perpetuum can make your leveling experience way easier because of the immense damage these weapons provide.

If you are a new player (or if this is your first character for the league), then note that obtaining these items will be very difficult, if not impossible. They are rare drops, which you can otherwise only acquire if you have saved up currency, so do not focus on them too much, and instead simply look for items that match the affix priorities listed in the gearing section above.

Gem Progression

Using Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa will allow you to have 6-Link gem setups early on, which is why we show such examples below. If you cannot get Tabula Rasa (or another item with a 6-Link), then simply prioritize the first gems in each link provided below.

In order to acquire gems that are not available to your class as a quest reward, simply ask a friend to buy them off vendors for you, or buy them yourself from Sioasa in The Library in Act III Library.
