Summon Raging Spirit / AuraBot Necromancer Build Guide (PoE Blight 3.8)

Build Introduction

Here we are going to take a look at a very interesting summoner that uses Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit but is also an AuraBot. This build is great for both solo play, as it clears all of the game’s content (including Uber Elder), as well as party play because you will be supporting your party with Auras, including Anger Anger, Hatred Hatred, and Wrath Wrath together with the Necromancer Ascendancy – essentially giving them around 100% increased damage. In recent patches, Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit has taken a backseat to other summoner builds like Raise Spectre Raise Spectre , but this build brings Summon Raging Spirit back to life in a very fun fashion.

Note: While the build performs exceptionally well in solo play, we do recommend it for people that like to play in party, as there are better builds if you are going to play solo.

Pros & Cons

Pros

+ Great Boss Killer
+ Great support for party play
+ Most of the gear is cheap
+ Decent clear speed
+ Good League Starter
+ Easy to level up

Cons

- Not the fastest build in the game
- Fairly squishy

Playstyle

As you can already guess, our main offensive skill in this build will be Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit and our main goal will be supporting it with a decent amount of auras to increase its damage, including Anger Anger, Hatred Hatred, Wrath Wrath, and Haste Haste. We will also be running Flesh Offering Flesh Offering with Desecrate Desecrate for the bonus damage. Our main goal will be summoning the maximum amount of Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit, which is 20, and buffing them with Flesh Offering Flesh Offering and auras. For defenses, we will be using Flame Dash Flame Dash to avoid danger. We will also be using Eldritch Battery, because all of our mana will be reserved and we will combine it with Mind over Matter for the extra protection.

Passive tree

Early Game

Our early game passive tree should look like this —> Early Game Passive Tree

Mid Game

The Passive Tree should start looking like this —> Mid Game Passive Tree

End Game Passive Tree

Now that we have most of the stuff out of the way it is time to pick all of the Aura buffs and Less Mana Reservation nodes. Also pick your Eldritch Battery and Mind over Matter first. At the end your build should be looking like this —> End Game Passive Tree

Ascendancy – Necromancer

Normal Lab – Mindless Aggression

Mindless Aggression will make our leveling a lot easier as it gives us pretty much everything we need for our Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit: Increased minion Damage, Attack Speed and Movement Speed.

Cruel Lab – Commander of Darkness

Next we will pick Commander of Darkness from the Cruel Lab. This will increase our elemental resistances and give our minions some extra damage and attack speed.

Note: Commander of Darkness works for Party members as well. That means that just from this Ascendancy we will be supporting our Party with 30% increased damage / 20% all Resist and 15% increased Attack & Cast speed.

Merciless Lab – Mistress of Sacrifice

Mistress of Sacrifice will give us a even more duration for the Raging Spirits. We will be triggering it using Flesh Offering Flesh Offering.

Eternal Lab – Unnatural Strength

Unnatural Strength will simply give us Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit even more damage.

Gem Links

Summon Raging Spirit (6-Link)

This should be in your weapon and the main gem links are as follows.

  1. Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit
  2. Unleash Support Unleash Support
  3. Minion Damage Support Minion Damage Support
  4. Melee Splash Support Melee Splash Support
  5. Multistrike Support Multistrike Support
  6. Ruthless Support Ruthless Support

Note: Against tougher bosses, always change Melee Splash Support Melee Splash Support for Elemental Damage with Attacks Support Elemental Damage with Attacks Support.

Note: A frequently asked question is which is better between Unleash Support Unleash Support and Spell Echo Support Spell Echo Support. Overall, Unleash works better and with the enchantment we would want to get on our helmet we would be able to even Summon 8 Raging Spirits at once.

Flesh Offering / Desecrate / Flame Dash (4 link)

The main reason we are linking these tree together is to take advantage of Faster Casting Support Faster Casting Support, so the links should be like this:

  1. Flesh Offering Flesh Offering
  2. Desecrate Desecrate
  3. Flame Dash Flame Dash
  4. Faster Casting Support Faster Casting Support

Auras

Anger Anger, Hatred Hatred, Wrath Wrath, and Haste Haste (ideally Vaal Haste Vaal Haste) should all go in your Body Armour, Victario's Influence Victario's Influence – none of them need to be linked.

Discipline

Discipline Discipline should go in one of our Rings so we can benefit from it as well.

Orb Of Storms (4 link)

  1. Orb of Storms Orb of Storms
  2. Curse On Hit Support Curse On Hit Support
  3. Elemental Weakness Elemental Weakness
  4. Arcane Surge Support Arcane Surge Support

Note: This one is mainly for cursing harder enemies with Elemental Weakness, as our Summon Raging Spirit will mostly be dealing elemental damage.

Immortal Call (4 link)

  1. Immortal Call Immortal Call
  2. Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support
  3. Summon Stone Golem Summon Stone Golem
  4. Increased Duration Support Increased Duration Support

Bandits & Pantheon

Bandits

Kill them all.

Pantheon

Major God

For a major god, the best one is Soul of Lunaris for the extra damage reduction.

Minor God

For a minor god, the best one is Soul of Tukohama as, it would reduce physical damage taken while stationary. We could use the extra damage reduction while casting Summon Raging Spirit.

Gear / Items

Weapon

A 6-linked Soulwrest Soulwrest is hands down the best weapon for this build, but it might prove to be a little too expensive. So, the one we recommend to start with is Realm Ender Realm Ender, as it increases the level of our Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit by 3 . You can always go for a Rare Staff, but it will be too expensive and it will be better to just buy Soulwrest Soulwrest, but if you get your hands somehow on a Rare 6-linked staff, look for one that has some of the following:

  1. + to Level of Socketed Minion Gems
  2. + to Level of Socketed Gems
  3. + to Level of Socketed Fire Gems
  4. + % increased Cast Speed (crafted)

Note: This is where our main skill, Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit, will go, so we must get a 6-linked version on one of the Staves mentioned above. This is the place where you must spend the most currency, but it is an important one.

Helmet

The best option is a Rare Bone Helmet Bone Helmet with these stats:

  1. + % total Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum life
  3. + % to maximum energy shield

Note: The best enchant from the Uber Lab is “Summon Raging Spirit has a chance to summon an extra minion”. When this procs with our Unleash Support, we will summon 8 Raging Spirits at once.

Body Armour

The mandatory unique we will have to get for this build is Victario's Influence Victario's Influence. You need only 4 sockets for Anger Anger, Wrath Wrath, Hatred Hatred, Vaal Haste Vaal Haste and these sockets do not have to be linked. Do not worry, as this is a pretty cheap unique.

Gloves

For gloves, the best in slot are Command of the Pit Command of the Pit with a Ghastly Eye Jewel that increases our Life and minion damage if we have used a minion skill recently. While this option might prove to be quite expensive, another recommended unique is Grip of the Council Grip of the Council. Also you can always go with Rare Gloves and look for the following stats:

  1. + % total Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum Life
  3. + % to maximum Energy Shield

Note: If you use Command of the Pit Command of the Pit remove Orb of Storms Orb of Storms if you are a Hardcore player or remove Immortal Call Immortal Call if you are a Softcore player.

Belt

A Stygian Vise Stygian Vise Rare belt is the best option with a Ghastly Eye Jewel that increases our Life and minion damage if we’ve used a minion skill recently and with the following stats:

  1. + % total Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum Life
  3. + % to maximum Energy Shield
  4. + % Energy Shield regenerated while a rare or unique enemy is nearby

Note: A belt with all these things will be quite expensive, so start with a regular Rare belt with resistances and life.

Boots

Just a regular rare boots are the best in slot with the following stats:

  1. + % total Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum Life
  3. + % to maximum Energy Shield
  4. + % Movement speed increase

Note: Recommended enchant from the Lab here would be “Movement Speed increase if not struck recently”.

Rings

For rings, we must use one mandatory Unset Ring Unset Ring, as we would need it to put our Discipline Discipline in there. Other than that, look for the following stats on both rings:

  1. + % total Resistances (until capped)
  2. + % to maximum Life
  3. + % to maximum Energy Shield

For our Unset-ring with Discipline look also for “+# to level of socketed Gems”.

Amulet

We would need a rare amulet that gives us some Strength and Dexterity so we can level up our Auras – the stats to look for are:

  1. + % total Resistances (until capped)
  2. + total Strength
  3. + total Dexterity
  4. + % to maximum Life
  5. + % to maximum Energy Shield

Jewels

We are going to prioritize Abyssal Jewels over regular ones, and make sure they have the following stats:

  1. + % Increased Maximum Life
  2. + % increased Minion Damage if you’ve used a Minion Skill Recently
  3. + Minions Deal additional fire/cold/lightning/chaos damage
  4. + Energy Shield Regenerated per second

Flasks

For this build we will not be benefiting much from any special flasks. Just make sure you have decent instant recovery life flasks that remove bleeding (Staunching) and freezing (Heat). You should also use Quicksilver flask, preferably with duration increase – you can get 2 of them. One unique flask you can get is Bottled Faith Bottled Faith, as it would increase our Minion damage.

Leveling

As a reminder, we have several guides to help you level up a character.

This is one of the easiest builds to level up as we will be getting our Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit on level 4. We will start by linking it with Minion Damage Support Minion Damage Support and Melee Splash Support Melee Splash Support we can also add Added Fire Damage Support Added Fire Damage Support if we have a 4 link. We get our auras on level 24. Start by using Hatred Hatred as it gives the most damage. On level 38 get Unleash Support Unleash Support and Multistrike Support Multistrike Support. While leveling up one of the hardest things will be keeping our mana up so you can run Clarity Clarity as well. As always make sure you have enough Life and Resistances on your gear. Recommended uniques for leveling up include:

Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa Goldrim Goldrim
Praxis Praxis x2 or rare rings that reduce mana cost of spells.
Wanderlust Wanderlust
Earendel's Embrace Earendel's Embrace

Conclusion

This build is amazing for playing in party, as it is pretty much an AuraBot and it is also great for solo play, as you will be able to clear the game – however it is not the best solo build out there.

    Hi,
what do you think about using the “Mark of the Red Covenant”? What about the new amulet “Tavukai”?
Thank you for an answer in advance!
    Cheers!

P.S. how exactly do we get 8 summoned spirits, if with unleash we only get extra 3 and enchantment only 18% chance for one more?

Hey, they are both great items however not for this build for these reasons:

    1. We are mainly focusing on Aura’s in this build like Anger Anger & Wrath Wrath which gives flat amount of damage to all of our minions – for example Anger gives around (23-155) dmg to all of our minions – it’s better to give it to 20 Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit instead of 5 with Mark of the Red Covenant Mark of the Red Covenant.

    2. Tavukai Tavukai requires you to have Minion Instability (key node) and have lot’s of health on your minions to be useful. In this build we are focusing more on Aura’s instead of Minion Health nodes so that would mean our SRS will just die without them doing much. Again it’s a great item but for a very few specific builds that focus on suiciding minions.

And the way the enchant works with Unleash is that the 18% count towards your entire cast of SRS. So if you cast while you have extra 3 with unleash ( 4 ) and you get the proc of the enchantment -> You get the extra spirit’s for the entire cast ( all four instant casts of unleash) – aka x2 your spirits – 8 spirits.

In a nutshell if i didn’t explain it understandably your unleash SRS gets doubled by the enchantment , instead of just giving you one extra spirit.

Hey, the Storm Call link is just optional for extra damage. Unfortunately with Command of the Pit Command of the Pit you can’t use all of the gem links from above. I apologize I should have mentioned it . If you are playing on softcore you can drop immortal call. If you have enough reserved mana reduction (from jewels & passives) you can also link Blasphemy Support Blasphemy Support with Elemental Weakness Elemental Weakness on your chest. You can also try Impresence (Fire) Impresence (Fire) <- fire/cold or lightning if you have enough Dex/Strength for your auras. Linking your auras with Enlighten Support Enlighten Support should also help. You can also check how much mana(energy shield) you spend on Summon Raging Spirit Summon Raging Spirit and drop Discipline Discipline if you have enough without it.

    Hi,

Loved the way you tried some of this thinks and I can’t really get good results.
    Some doubts:
1 – Going full life is not worth it. I really wanted to and tried a lot of combinations but going Hybrid seems always the best choice (second one would be go full ES and CI). How much HP can you achieve on this? Am I doing something wrong here?
2 – Are phantasm’s that better than +3 gem +some more lvl’s of support gems? (staff choice, I’ll try this one, sfaff are pretty cheap)
3 – Why Ruthsless if Elemental attacks always give 50-200 more damage (based on your gems)? I gess it’s because of the phantasms again but I just don’t know.
4 – Why use wrath if we can apply the elemental equilibrium with arc/oos ?
5 – If we go for no wrath do you think it is viable to use a full life/ES chest with 6link generosity?

to go life in this build but I don’t think it works that well (at least I’m not getting good results).

Sry for any “Bad English” and thanks in advance

    Hello,

I will try to answer your questions as much as possible.

    1. We cannot go Hybrid because we are using Eldritch Battery. That means our energy shield is our primary source of (mana) since our entire mana is reserved for Auras. You can get around 5-6k life with the build.

    2. Our entire damage depends on our Auras not on the level of Summon Raging Spirits. The phantasms are great addition because they are additional minions that receive our Auras. If you want to experiment you can go with Realm Ender Realm Ender and use Summon Phantasm Support Summon Phantasm Support instead. Soulwrest Soulwrest also provides us with some physical damage to our minions both the Phantasms and SRS. It compensates in a way for losing 2-3 levels from Realm Ender Realm Ender.

    3. You are correct on this one. You will probably get better results from Elemental Damage with Attacks Support Elemental Damage with Attacks Support. That’s why I recommend it being used instead of Melee Splash Support Melee Splash Support.

4.We are using Wrath Wrath because we are playing a support version of the build and we want as much auras as possible to boost our Minions or party members. We are not using Elemental equilibrium because our Minions deal damage of all types. Elemental Weakness Elemental Weakness is the most viable curse because of that. However using Arc/Orb of storms and removing Wrath with Elemental equilibrium can be an idea. This way you can use another Aura instead.

    5. Victario's Influence Victario's Influence reduces the Reservation cost of our Aura’s as well. If you change the chest you won’t get as much Auras as you get now. You can even use Rotting Legion Rotting Legion with Zombies, but we are talking about a completely different build here.

The main idea behind the build is that it is Support type. As always players can come up with ideas to improve the build. For example your idea with the Elemental Equilibrium. If you feel like it is squishy you can go for ,,Hybrid’‘ version. But we are changing the build completely as it’s main goal is to support our party members and our minions with Auras.
