With little under a month to go before the conclusion of the Synthesis League and the soon to follow release of Patch 3.7, we now have the Synthesis Flashback to play with. If you have never played a Flashback league before, they are usually about a month in length and feature mashups of mechanics from past leagues, usually interacting all at once for a unique and flavorful league that is a real variety pack.
The Synthesis Flashback League
The Synthesis Flashback league will feature three mechanics from popular past leagues in each area you enter. Each area will have different combinations of past league mods, however, they will only persist for one hour in each area before being randomized again. Resetting the instance of a particular area will not re-roll the mods for that area until the hour timer has elapsed. Synthesis will still be present in and towards the “three league mods” rule. Possible mods are:
Check the forums Official Announcement for the weightings and quantities that each league will have when present in any given area.
Reaching various milestones throughout the league will reward microtransactions, some of which are chosen randomly from within an available pool. Top performers for each Ascendancy Class will also receive alternate artwork for Demigod’s Immortality, though this is for the PC version of the game exclusively.
This flashback event will feature all standard varieties of leagues, from Softcore, Hardcore, and both types of SSF.
In preparation for the Synthesis Flashback, we have prepared not one, but two guides featuring some of the best builds for smashing through a shorter league such as the Flashback. Check them out here:
- The Best Flashback Builds (Part 1: Witch, Scion, Ranger)
- The Best Flashback Builds (Part 2: Duelist, Marauder, Shadow, Templar)
If you have any questions about the builds themselves, leave a comment under the appropriate guide and our content team will clear up any confusion!
As a reminder, we have several guides to help you level up a character.
- Our step-by-step leveling walkthrough, which allows even more experienced players to save time and speed through the leveling process.

As we have already established, Flashback leagues are very short, and your Atlas Strategy should reflect the amount of playing time you plan to invest. Choosing an Elder Atlas Strategy, for example, will require a lot a fair amount of time investment and currency to bring fully online. For this reason, we recommend an Unshaped Atlas for most players in the Flashback, allowing you to experience as many maps and areas with as many fun affix combinations as possible, and give you a crack at the Uber Elder.
If you are not entirely clear on how the Atlas of Worlds works, or the best strategies that are commonly used, we have several guides to help you out. Check out our:
Players with more time to invest can use Elder Atlas and Shaped Atlas strategies to generate a lot of currency, however, this does not make them better by any means — merely another avenue that opens up with the correct preparation and time investment.
The Synthesis Flashback looks to be one of the most exciting Flashback Leagues to date. Despite a rather lukewarm reception to Patch 3.6 Synthesis itself, this Flashback is sure to be one that you will not want to miss.
