Stuck With a Shark Fin in PoE2? Here Is How to Get Rid of It

During Act 4 of Path of Exile 2, you face the Great White One on Whakapanu Island. Beating it drops a big Shark Fin… that refuses to leave your inventory. For a lot of players, it just sits there eating space for hours, turning into a kind of backpack gremlin until you figure out what to do with it.

How to Clear the Shark Fin Quest

Start Tribal Medicine
Picking up the fin adds the quest ‘Tribal Medicine’ to your journal. That is the only way to get rid of it.

Find Kaimana
Where you hand it in depends on how far you are in Act 4:

• Ngakanu Karui Village, if Benedictus is still alive.
• Ngakanu Medicine Circle POI after beating Benedictus.
• Karui Ship, Kingsmarch, if you have already finished The Search.

Hand Over the Fin
Talk to Kaimana and trade it in. She will give you a choice of one reward:

• Uncut Skill Gem (Level 11)
• Uncut Spirit Gem (Level 11)
• Uncut Support Gem (Level 4)

Pick the one that fits your build, because you only get one.

Get Your Space Back

Once you hand in the fin, the quest is done, and your inventory slot is finally free.

• If Kaimana is not where you expect, teleport back to Kingsmarch –⁠ she moves as the story progresses.
• Do not wait too long to finish it, or that fin will follow you into endgame.
• Think of it as a small side puzzle: a bit annoying, but worth it for a free gem and the peace of reclaiming your bag space.
