Build Introduction

The Lightning Spear Amazon is a very quick clearing build in Path of Exile 2 Rise of the Abyssal. While this is not the first choice for Amazon as Bows are chosen a bit more often, with proper building you can hit over a million damage on Path of Building and clear screens as fast as the best characters in the game. There are a variety of potential ways to play the Spear Amazon, which will be highlighted in this guide, depending on how safe you want to be and if you’re playing Hardcore or Softcore.

Build Mechanics

This build does screen wide clears by utilizing all elemental damage through a spreading Lightning Spear. This is your main clear skill for groups, while Storm Lance is for single target damage on Bosses and Rares.

Skill Rotation

Follow the quick skill rotation below to progress through the campaign and clear groups of enemies in maps.

1. Lightning Spear. That’s it! Just blast through and throw Spears everywhere and watch everything explode.

Execute the steps below to optimize damage against bosses.

1. Use Barrage.
2. Use Storm Lance when close for fights
3. Use Lightning Spear when at a distance

Gameplay Tips

1. Mana on Kill on a Sapphire Jewel can be helpful for easy sustain.
2. Make sure to cap Resistances! Armor and Rings will be very helpful in getting these.
3. Remember you are looking for Elemental Damage on gear! The more you can pickup the better your damage will get.

Skill and Support Gems

The main two Skills for this build are Lightning Spear and Storm Lance. Focus on getting the sockets of those up first before the rest of your skills.

The Spirit Gem setup requires a LOT of Spirit, so gear is also necessary to really unlock the full power of the build. Completing bosses in the campaign rewards 100 base Spirit but the rest will come from your amulet and your Sacred Flame Sceptre. Usually this Spirit can be found on an Amulet. For this build the main focus of your Spirit should first be using Herald of Thunder, Herald of Ash, and Herald of Ice. After that you can focus on other pieces such as Wind Dancer and Trinity.

Ascendancy

Amazon is the pick of choice for the Huntress as it has some nice Crit nodes, can provide Elemental Surge skill, and has some other damage and survivability nodes.

The order for picking nodes is as follows:

1. Predatory Instinct – Simply adds more damage during Rare and Boss encounters at random chunks of their health.
2. In for the Kill – Additional boost from the Open Weaknesses to help with bosses and hard Rare monsters.
3. Critical Strike – Critical hit chance will be crucial for this build so gaining additional chance is fantastic.
4. Mystic Harvest – Allows for Life Leech from Elemental Damage to increase survivability a lot.
5. Optional – Elemental Surge – If running Frenzy Charges this can be taken instead.

Jewels

The beneficial affixes for Jewels are listed below, ranked in order of importance. There are plenty of other affixes that are also great for the build including Elemental Damage, Lightning Damage, Increased Shock Duration, and more. That being said, try to prioritize rare Jewels with two prefixes and two suffixes.

  1. Increased Critical Hit Chance for Attacks
  2. Increased Critical Damage Bonus for Attack Damage
  3. Increased Chance to Inflict Ailments
  4. Gain Additional Stun Threshold Equal to % of Maximum Energy Shield

Best Unique Jewels

1. Heart of the Well – A variety of good affixes to get include:
   • Increased Movement Speed
   • Gain % Damage as Extra Elemental Damage
   • Increased Critical Damage/Hit Chance
   • Increased Energy Shield from Equipped Armor
2. Megalomaniac – A unique jewel that spawns with 2-3 mods that each allocate a notable point on your skill tree, allowing you to get them without pathing to them. There are a LOT of great mods here. Some of my favorites are “All Natural”, “Eldritch Will”, “Stormcharged”, and “Leaping Ambush”. Focus on the main affixes that your other nodes aim for including Crit Damage/Chance, Elemental Damage, Resistances, and Energy Shield.
3. Prism of Belief – If you can get a +3 to Level of all Lightning Spear Skills this jewel can be a great damage boost
4. From Nothing – Allows passives in a radius of a passive skill to be allocated without being connected to your tree. “Dance with Death” and “Walker of the Wilds” are useful as they have a lot of great passive nodes nearby to grab while saving a few points

Quest Reward Choices

Act 2 – 15% Increased Mana Recovery From Flasks
Act 3 – 25% Increased Stun Threshold
Act 4 – Resistances for all choices + 30% Increased Life Recovery from flasks
Act 5 – Movement Speed or Elemental Resistances if needed.

Gear and Affixes

The preferred gear for the “Build” is listed below with affixes ranked in order of importance. Prioritize gear with the correct base stats and beneficial explicit affixes.

Main Hand	1. Increased Elemental Damage with Attacks 2. + to Level of All Attack Skills 3. Added damage (lightning/fire/cold) 4. Increased Attack Speed 5. Critical Damage Bonus/Critical Hit Chance 6. Accuracy	The highest Elemental Damage DPS Spear you can find is your best choice. Aim for a Spiked or Akoyan Spear in endgame to increase your kill speed, then look for whatever added elemental damage you can. Lightning is most desired but all elemental damage is great. Beyond that, getting +4 to Attack Skills is a nice DPS boost and then any additional Crit chance/damage works well with the Amazon Ascendancy.
Off Hand	Sacred Flame	This Unique Sceptre is extremely valuable for this build, providing an additional 100 Spirit as well as a massive damage boost of Fire Damage (on top of a few other nice affixes and Purity of Fire). If you wish to run a shield, look for standard survivability affixes such as Armour, Evasion Rating, and Resistances.
Helm	1. Increased Energy Shield 2. Maximum Energy Shield 3. Increased Critical Hit Chance 4. Resistances	Armor is going to be the same for all main pieces, looking to find more Life, Stats, Resistances, and Evasion. Remember by Maps you will want Resistances maxed or near maxed out! Energy Shield is beneficial too as another way to increase your effective hit pool. So look for armors that are either Evasion or energy shield focused (or a combination)
Body Armour	1. Increased Energy Shield 2. Maximum Energy Shield 3. Resistances	Armor is going to be the same for all main pieces, looking to find more Energy Shield, Stats, Resistances, and Life if you are running a hybrid. Remember by Maps you will want Resistances maxed or near maxed out! You can also look for armors that are Evasion focused (or a combination with Energy Shield)
Gloves	1. Added Elemental Damage 2. Increased Attack Speed 3. Increased Critical Damage 5. Resistances	Rare gloves are recommended however Essentia Sanguis can be used if acquired. If you choose to continue with Rare Gloves then focus on the same damage stats as usual.
Boots	1. Movement Speed 2. Increased Energy Shield 3. Maximum Energy Shield 4. Resistances	Boots are going to be the same as other pieces of armor but Movement Speed is extremely important as the Amazon can be fragile and having good movement increases mapping speed.
Rings	1. Added Elemental Damage 2. Resistances 3. Accuracy	Two Breach Rings are going to be the best for your slots. Added Lightning, Cold, and Fire Damage on Rings can help boost up your killing. Beyond that, the usual survivability is a great addition on any Ring with lots of Resistances and life possible.
Amulet	1. Spirit 2. + to Level of Projectile Skills 3. Increased Crit Hit Chance 4. Increased Crit Damage Bonus 5. Increased Maximum Energy Shield	Aim for a nice + to Level of Projectile Skills the better for increasing damage output and also look for Crit Hit Chance and Damage. Remember this a key place to get additional Spirit so you can use all of your Skills.
Belt	1. Resistances 2. Stats 3. Maximum Life if Hybrid	The Unique Belt Ingenuity is going to be best in slot to work with the Breach Rings. However, if not using that then use a nice Rare Belt to stack up Resistances and help cap them.

Flasks and Charms

Stone Charm – Preventing being Stunned is critical in allowing the Ranger to escape.

Thawing Charm – Preventing being Frozen is necessary for survival

Rite of Passage Charm – Grants Spirit of the Owl for 14 seconds

Nascent Hope – Useful for Energy Shield Recharge

Life/Mana Flasks – Increased Amount Recovered is generally the best for this build, however other options can work as well including Instant Recovery if feeling like you are getting taken down too quickly.
