Grinding Gear Games just revealed the Disciple of Varashta, a new Sorceress Ascendancy coming in the Last of the Druids update for Path of Exile 2. The announcement was shared with a short YouTube preview and a few social media posts showing first details.

It is interesting to note that the reveal came out of nowhere and instantly grabbed the community’s attention, especially for players who enjoy minion or hybrid caster setups.
What the Disciple of Varashta is about
This Ascendancy comes from Maraketh lore. Varashta is a legendary figure who still commands powerful djinn inside the Trial of the Sekhemas. If your character proves worthy, you gain access to these djinn in combat.
The playstyle is built around customizable summons. You unlock and command djinn, each with clear roles and different elements. You can run all three or focus on the one that fits your build.
The Three Djinn Shown in the Preview
Ruzhan, the Blazing Sword
A fire djinn that focuses on strong damage and wide attacks.
Kelari, the Tainted Sands
An assassin-style djinn that brings critical support.
Navira, the Last Mirage
A water djinn that helps with mana and energy shield sustain.
Each djinn has its own set of command skills, and you can unlock extra tools as you progress. This gives you room to adjust the setup to pure minions, a hybrid caster, or a support style that uses a djinn to handle resources for you.
Build Options
The Ascendancy can support different ideas:
- Full minion setup with multiple offensive djinn
- Caster builds that rely on Navira for recovery
- Crit-focused builds that use Kelari as support
You mix and match based on the role you want in combat.

More Details of the New Sorceress Ascendancy
GGG also posted another X/Tweet post showing four more shots of Varashta gameplay and skill interactions. You can check that out here:
The Disciple of Varashta looks like a flexible summoner with a lot of depth. The command system gives the Sorceress more control than classic minion builds, and the elemental themes add a bit of personality to each djinn. Minion players in particular are already calling this ascendancy a new league start option.
