In Path of Exile 2, there is a greater focus on boss fights that feel engaging and difficult, even while playing through the acts. This guide will go over boss damage types, boss attacks, and how to deal with them in the Interlude campaign after Act 4.

When progressing through PoE2, certain attacks must be dodged, indicated by the boss flashing red and an accompanying sound cue. These attacks and abilities are highlighted in bold with the text (Requires Dodge) throughout this guide.

Lythara, the Wayward Spear

Zone: Kriar Village.

Damage Type: Physical and Chaos.

Throughout the entire fight, Lythara will have a baseline for the attacks she use on the player. At specific health thresholds, she will begin using new attacks; however, the following will remain the same until she has been killed.

  • A series of sweeps and slams with her spear.
  • Lunches towards the player with her spear.
  • Special Attack: Chaos Throw
    • Lythara charges her spear with chaos, throwing it at the player. If it collides with the player or a minion, it splits into three lightning bolts and leaves a whirling storm that periodically pulses, sending chaos orbs out in random directions. Note: When the spear hits the arena walls, it reflects the three lightning bolts back into the arena; otherwise, it behaves as normal
  • Special Attack: Serpent Strike (Requires Dodge)
    • Lythara charges her spear with poison, sending out a wave of two large serpents. Note: Dodge as you see her thrust the spear forward.
  • Special Attack: Viper’s Disengage
    • Lythara jumps backwards, throwing out poison bolts in an arc. These leave behind a pool of poison.

When Lythara reaches 50% health, wisps will start spawning in the north and south parts of the arena. These can empower Lythara if activated.

The Abominable Yeti

Zone: Howling Caves.

Damage types: Physical and Cold.

Throughout the entire fight, the Abominable Yeti will have a baseline for the attacks it uses on the player. At specific health thresholds, it will begin using new attacks; however, the following will remain the same until it has been killed.

  • Sweep at the player with its pillar.
  • Special Attack: Sunder
    • The Abominable Yeti slams its pillar down in front of it, sundering the earth in a straight line with cold damage.
  • Special Attack: Combo Attack
    • The Abominable Yeti does this default attack, followed by the Sunder attack.
  • Special Attack: Roll
    • The Abominable Yeti leaps into a roll towards the player, dealing damage if it hits the player.

Rakkar, the Frozen Talon

Zone: Glacial Tarn.

Damage Type: Physical and Cold.

Throughout the entire fight, Rakkar will have a baseline for the attacks it uses on the player. At specific health thresholds, it will begin using new attacks; however, the following will remain the same until it has been killed.

  • Sweeps at the player if in melee.
  • Special Ability: Evasive Dash
    • Rakkar will sometimes do a quick evasive dash
  • Special Ability: Snowball
    • Rakkar rolls a snowball that keeps traveling in a spiral pattern, growing the longer it rolls.
  • Special Ability: Dive Bomb (Requires Dodge)
    • Rakkar leaps off the screen and tries to dive bomb at the player’s Location.
  • Special Ability: Ice Shards
    • Rakkar summons a bunch of ice shards in a 180-degree arc in front of it before shooting out.

When Lythara reaches 70% health, it will gain the following abilities:

  • Special Ability: Ice Armor
    • Rakkar encases itself in an ice cage that pulses, causing large ice spikes to erupt all over the arena. This ability lasts longer and becomes faster the lower Rakkar’s health is. Note: You can see where the next set of spikes will erupt from between pulses.
  • Special Ability: Wind Busts
    • Rakkar flies into the air and appears in another place in the arena, sending out five bursts of air, in quick succession, in a line towards the player tracking them.

Stormgore, the Guardian

Zone: Etched Ravine.

Damage Type: Physical and Lighting.

As Stormgore’s healths get lower, more of the machines around him wake up and attack the player.

Throughout the entire fight, Stormgore will have a baseline for the attacks he uses on the player. At specific health thresholds, he will begin using new attacks; however, the following will remain the same until he has been killed.

  • Pushes the player back.
  • Large swing with this axe.
  • Special Attack: Slam
    • Stormgore raises his axe above his head, slamming it down in front of him.
  • Special Ability: Lightning Breath
    • Stormgore leans forward, breathing Lightning in a sweeping arc.

When Blackjaw reaches 65% health, he will gain the following abilities:

  • Special Attack: Slam Combo
    • Stormgore does a three slam combo with a delay on the last slam. Note: This attack can be hard to avoid, but if you run in a circle around him for the first two slams and roll dodge the last one, it should be easy.
  • Special Attack: Leap Slam
    • Stormgore leaps towards the play, slamming the ground on impact
  • Special Attack: Lightning Sweep
    • Blackjaw breathes lightning on his axe before doing a frontal sweep with his axe.

When Blackjaw reaches 50% health, he will gain the following abilities:

  • Special Ability: Lightning Frenzy
    • Stormgore breathes a circle of lightning around him and launches lightning tendrils at the player, ending it with a sweeping attack with his axe. Note: This ability is easy to out-range or avoid by running in a circle around him.

When Zelina reaches 50% health, she will gain the following ability:

  • Special Attack: Blood Circle
