New Trade System Coming to Path of Exile 2?
In a recent Japanese interview with PoE2 director Jonathan Rogers, Grinding Gear Games confirmed that a new trading system is already in development for Path of Exile 2. Although there is no set release date, the team plans to launch it before the game leaves early access in late 2025.
Unfortunately, no major details were shared, but the goal is to make trade more accessible, especially for newer or more casual players. The system might involve in-hideout vendors or a new listing method to reduce frustrations like fake prices and ghost sellers. According to Rogers, trade accessibility is one of the most common complaints, especially early in a league.

Ascendancy Reworks and Passive Tree Updates
Another major focus right now is reworking ascendancy classes and the passive skill tree. GGG wants each ascendancy to feel distinct, powerful, and worth building around, so much so that full redesigns are still on the table.
The passive tree is also being reshaped, especially in the smaller “wheel” sections, to make pathing more impactful and less bloated. There is still a missing Strength/Intelligence hybrid section, which could be added later.
More Endgame Content Between Doryani and Pinnacles
GGG also shared that more mid-tier endgame content is apparently in the works. The goal is to bridge the gap between Doryani’s trials and bosses like the Arbiter of Ash, Zested, and King in the Mists. These additions are supposed to not just be stat bumps but actual content to make progression feel better.
There was no mention of Towers in this dev interview/update, so we might still be waiting on news for that endgame layer.
Performance and Hardcore Mode
The devs acknowledged that performance is still one of PoE2’s biggest issues, as even top-tier systems are struggling. GGG is collecting skill usage and frame data per zone to optimize the worst cases, especially for console performance.
As for Hardcore? It is not a balance priority. Only about 3–4% of players choose Hardcore, so tuning decisions are being made with Softcore in mind. Rogers mentioned that players should expect to die at least once or twice on new boss fights, calling it part of the learning curve.
PoE 2 Patch 0.3.0 – August 8?
Although nothing is officially confirmed, signs point to Patch 0.3.0 launching around Friday, August 8. That would be four months after the 0.2.0 release, fitting GGG’s usual patch cadence. It also avoids clashing with Last Epoch’s big update later that month.
Quick Recap – What Was Confirmed:
- A new trade system is in development for PoE2.
- Ascendancy classes may be reworked (again).
- Passive tree will be cleaned up and expanded.
- Hardcore feedback will not affect general balance.
- Mid-tier endgame content is being added.
