Grinding Gear Games just announced the first-ever free weekend for Path of Exile 2, and it is happening next week. To celebrate the launch of the Third Edict update, PoE 2 will be free to play for three days across all supported platforms, including Steam, Epic, Standalone, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

You will get full access to everything currently in Early Access, including the new content from The Third Edict. There are no limits on character level or progression, and anything you earn during the weekend will stay tied to your account!

The Free Weekend Dates are:
Start: August 29, 1 PM PDT (August 29, 22:00 CEST)
End: September 1, 1 PM PDT (September 1, 22:00 CEST)

No Key Needed – Just Download and Play

Unlike for Early Access, there is no need for a key to join the free weekend. You can simply download the game on your preferred platform once the event begins.

  • PC (Standalone): Download here
  • Steam & Epic: Download in the store app or via these browser links: Epic, Steam
  • Xbox / PlayStation 5: Available through each console’s store

Note: No preloading is available unless you already own a Path of Exile 2 key.

What Happens After?

Once the free weekend ends, your progress will be saved to your account. You will need to either:

  • Buy an Early Access key to keep playing right away
  • Or wait for the full free-to-play launch at a later date

All characters created during the weekend will remain on your account in the Early Access league. You will also be able to buy MTX and Supporter Packs, just like regular players.
