Introduction

Are you looking for a powerful, lightning fast Werewolf build that leaps into the fray with a huge pack of wolves? This is an endgame build guide, and should be played after you have finished Path of Exile 2’s campaign.

A collaborative work by GhazzyTV and Lollash. If you have any questions or feedback to provide, please feel free to drop by our streams!

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths
  • Fast and active playstyle, especially for minions.
  • Constantly freezes enemies.
Weaknesses
  • Requires a few core uniques to solve endgame defenses.

Build Mechanics

This build will utilize all the tools available to the Werewolf form granted by Talismans, alongside powerful Oracle passive tree manipulation to scale the wolves granted by your Pounce Skill Gem to an insane Level 40. This creates high damage, high survivability wolf minions that will tear through even the toughest content the game has to offer.

While the bulk of your damage will come from your Wolf Minions, you will be actively engaging in Melee Combat with Lunar Assault to freeze enemies. The build is mostly about Buff, Cooldown, and Rage management and is different from most traditional minion builds. As this is the core part of the build, below you will find a collection of tips and tricks that you may find useful. Make sure you read them carefully.

  • Lunar Blessing is your most important buff and should be maintained at all times. While the duration scales with Rage, the build is designed to allow for 100% uptime if used with no Rage at all.
  • Due to the Anger Management notable passive, your Rage starts decaying almost immediately upon exiting combat. As such, you should use Lunar Blessing to spend the Rage if you don’t have more enemies to engage with immediately.
  • Lunar Blessing, Pounce and Arctic Howl can all be animation cancelled with Dodge Roll or Cross Slash shortly after you use them to keep you mobile. Be careful when cancelling Lunar Blessing, as you can cancel it before the buff triggers. This may take a little practice.
  • Arctic Howl, in combination with Bhatair’s Vengeance, provides the most powerful and longest-duration buff if you hit an enemy that is Primed for freeze after you have frozen 5 or more enemies in the last 8 seconds. This is represented by a small, white glowing ball on the enemies. It also generates large amounts of Rage if it hits a lot of monsters, or Rare or Unique monsters. Try to use this skill as often as possible, on as many monsters as possible, ideally when something is Primed for Freeze.
  • Lunar Assault does not require spamming while clearing. It is better to slash once, then dodge roll or keep moving in between using abilities to avoid high damage ground-based effects, volatile cores, etc.

Skill Rotation

  • Keep Lunar Blessing active at all times!
  • Pounce towards the enemies, prioritizing Rare or Unique enemies for Predators Mark.
  • Lunar Assault to freeze/prime for freeze at least one target.
  • Arctic Howl to ideally hit a Primed target, but a frozen target works as well.
  • Lunar Assault to fill, making sure you keep mobile with Dodge Roll or movement at all times.

If at any point your Wolf Minions from Pounce get killed off by crazy Area of Effect Damage, you will need to focus on resummoning them. Simply use the combination of Pounce, then immediately Cross Slash to consume the applied mark and summon your wolves.

Gem Info

In the Planner below, you will find a full list of Skill Gems and their Support Gems listed in order from highest to lowest priority, top to bottom, left to right. When choosing where you should use currency such as Perfect Jeweller’s Orbs, or when shopping for high-value Lineage Support Gems, you can use this table as a guide. Make sure you remember to Quality your Skill Gems as well, as many of the Skills in this build benefit significantly from Quality.

There are two different setups. The first uses only commonly available, low-cost Lineage Support Gems and is all that is required for the build to function. The second includes several chase items such as Rakiata’s Flow.

Ascendancy

  1. The Unseen Path – Unlocks the hidden Oracle passive points on the passive tree, allowing them to be allocated. We take many of these nodes as they are, on average, much stronger than the normally available passives.
  2. Entwined Realities – Allows you to allocate any passive in a radius around any Keystone you allocate. This allows incredibly efficient allocation of Notable passives, giving the build even more strength
  3. The Lesser Harm – Results in a significantly lower average amount of damage incoming, and reduces the power of enemy critical strikes. A powerful defensive tool.
  4. Align Fate – Allows you to automatically trigger a mirage of yourself that will cast spells. Used for the Utility of a Thunderstorm for Drench and scaled Shock.

Skill Tree

This interactive skill tree will provide you with an overview of the final state of the build. When assigning your attributes, you will need to account for the necessary requirements of your character.

When assigning travel Attribute Nodes, you will want to assign Strength everywhere you possibly can. You should only have exactly the amount of Dexterity and Intelligence required for equipping your Gear and Skill Gems.

Note: You will be using a From Nothing (Bulwark) Jewel that allows you to assign Warlord Berserker, Warlord Leader, and Hale Heart without pathing to them. While this is strictly not necessary, it is a huge power boost, particularly for your single-target damage. Also, the Blood Magic Keystone is used with the Undying Hate Jewel, making it convert to a completely different Keystone. You should not take Blood Magic until you have this jewel.

Crafting Your Weapon

This build uses a highly specific weapon to scale its damage dramatically. The crafting process is mostly deterministic, so while we don’t normally provide specific crafting explanations in our guides here is a step-by-step walkthrough of how it is crafted:

  1. Purchase a Magic Talisman with +7 Level of All Melee skills and one of the Prefix’s from the table below. If you are just starting out and cant afford +7, you could consider using a +6 for now.
  2. Use a Greater Essence of Haste on it to guarantee a high-tier Attack Speed Suffix
  3. Force a Desecrated Amanamu Prefix by having an Omen of the Liege and an Omen of Sinistral Necromancy active in your inventory, then use a Preserved Jawbone on the Talisman
  4. Visit the well of souls and reveal the modifiers, choosing “Minions deal % increased Damage
    if you’ve hit Recently
  5. Finish off the item by using Exalted Orbs (Whatever Tier you can reasonably afford) to add the final 2 Affixes.

Here is a video going through the process of crafting one of these Talismans.

Gear Affixes

In the table below, you will see a breakdown of the most important affixes for each gear slot, as well as what unique items the build uses. These are listed in order of priority, so consider your gearing options carefully.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure that you are capped at 75% Elemental Resistances and meet all Attribute Requirements when you are changing gear pieces.

Unique Items

Morior Invictus – This Body Armour rolls with a lot of different possible mods, all related to providing specific bonuses based on the number of socketed Augments. You will be using one that grants +# Maximum Life and +% Chaos Resistance, with a variety of potentially useful 3rd affixes. Some you may want to consider are:

  • % increased Global Defenses
  • +% all Elemental Resistances
  • +# to Maximum Mana
  • # Life Regeneration Per Second

Darkness Enthroned – This unique belt comes with two Sockets which will function as if they were a specific gear slot. For this build you will want one that allows you to socket the powerful Body Armour runes to gain total Curse Immunity and an additional 6% Maximum Life.

Defiance of Destiny – Defiance of Destiny is an incredibly potent defensive tool against a large number of incoming, smaller hits.

Undying Hate – This Abyssal Timeless jewel dramatically changes all passives, including Keystones, in a radius around wherever it is socketed. For this build we are using specifically an Undying Hate with the modifier “Glorifying the defilement of (100-8000) souls in tribute to Amanamu“. This will change the Keystone Blood Magic into Sacrifice of Flesh. This Keystone effectively nearly doubles your Effective HP against attacks that could one-shot you. The number of souls in tribute does not matter at all for this build.

From Nothing (Bulwark) – This unique jewel allows you to allocate the Warlord Leader and Warlord Berserker notable passives without having to path to them. This is an incredibly powerful and important boost to the damage of the build. Once you have this Jewel, you should assign those 2 Notable passives as soon as possible.

High Budget Options

This build has the potential for higher levels of investment than most minion builds, as it can effectively utilize chase Uniques, such as Headhunter, Rite of Passage, or The Fall of the Axe, to great effect. These are easily added to the build in place of the existing used items without likely affecting any of your current important statistics.

Headhunter – This incredibly desirable belt allows you steal Rare monster modifiers and gain their benefits for a duration. These modifiers can continue to stack up, allowing you to have many powerful buffs while mapping and killing lots of Rare monsters.

The Fall of the Axe – This Charm not only acts as a Silver Charm, granting you brief immunity to Slowing effects on use, but also provides the powerful Onslaught buff whenever it triggers. This grants increased movement and skill speed, improving your mapping efficiency.

Rite of Passage – With several available variants all providing powerful, long duration effects, this Charm is one of the most regularly used items in the game. Below are a few of the variants you may want to use:

  • Spirit of the Wolf –  50% chance to Maim on Attack Hit, 30% increased Skill Speed, 15% increased Movement Speed and Break Armour equal to 10% of Hit Damage dealt.
  • Spirit of the Bear – 20% Increased Maximum Life, 60% increased Stun Threshold, 60% increased Stun Buildup and 20% reduced damage taken.
  • Spirit of the Stag – +30% to all Elemental Resistances, 30% increased Skill Speed, 15% increased Movement Speed and Gain 20% of Damage as Extra Lightning Damage.

Augments

This table will show you what Augments are used for each gear slot. While many slots will likely be used for resistance Runes, pay particular attention to the Helm, Belt, and Main Hand slot.

SlotSocketable
Main HandRune of Leadership
Off HandPrimate Idol
HelmQuipolatl’s Soul Core of the Flow
Body ArmourJiquani’s Soul Core/Greater Body Rune
GlovesBoar Idol/Resistance Rune
BootsFarrul’s Rune of the Chase/Resistance Rune
BeltCraiceann’s Rune of Warding/Jiquani’s Soul Core

Jewels

There are many useful affixes on jewels, and this build has two sockets for them to be inserted in. Here are just a few of the highly desirable mods you may find on Sapphires as an example:

  • Minions deal % increased Damage
  • Damage penetrates % Cold Resistance
  • % increased Skill Speed while Shapeshifted
  • % increased Freeze Build Up

In addition to regular Jewels, you could also pursue Unique jewels such as Heart of the Well, though it has incredibly high variability of affixes, or Prism of Belief (Pounce) for additional skill levels up to the maximum cap of Level 40.

Flasks and Charms

The recommended setup for your flasks and charms is:

  • Life Flask – % Recovery applied Instantly | % reduced Charges per use
  • Mana Flask – % of recovery applied instantly | % reduced Charges per use
  • Charms – Thawing Charm, Gold Charm, Silver Charm
    • Also grants # Guard | % reduced Charges per use
