With Path of Exile 2 getting a new update and league this week, Grinding Gear Games has dropped the full patch notes, and buried in there is a surprisingly chunky User Interface update.

These are not as cool as the massive amount of balance changes, but they do fix a lot of the little frustrations players have been pointing out since early access. And some of these are pretty big wins.

Smarter Gems and Cleaner Info

One of the nicest changes is in the Gemcutting interface. When you hover over a support gem, the game now shows which of your equipped skills it actually works with. No more guessing, no more trying to slot gems just to see if they are compatible.

Combat UI also gets an update! Rage is no longer cluttering the buff bar. Instead, it now has its own dedicated Rage meter next to the mana globe, making it way easier to track in the middle of a fight.

Faster Maps, Better Trading

Waypoint navigation gets a nice upgrade too. If you select an underground location from the overworld map, you now teleport there immediately, instead of being forced into the underground map view first. It is a small change, but it will save a lot of clicks over time.

Trading also sees improvements:

  • We get a new quick search for Stat Filters in the Trade Market
  • Optimized item search in the in-game market browser

If you spend time trading, these changes should be instantly noticeable.

Input & Cursor Improvements

There are also some really nice changes for mouse and keyboard users:

  • Cursor Size is now a slider instead of a basic toggle
  • A new Cursor Tracking option lets skills keep updating their direction even after you release the key

This is especially impactful for skills like Rolling Slam and Whirling Assault. If you play in WASD mode, this option is enabled by default, and it should make movement-based skills feel better to play overall.

The game also now remembers if you were using WASD or not when switching between controller and keyboard on the character select screen. Small touch, but appreciated.

Couch Co-Op Gets Some Love Too

Couch co-op players are not left out. GGG has modified player interfaces:

  • Some menus now allow dual cursors, letting both players interact at the same time
  • Most interfaces are now panelled, reducing interruptions in towns
  • Both players can open different interfaces simultaneously without stepping on each other

It should make local co-op feel a lot less clunky, and more fun.

This UI overhaul is the kind of update that improves every single game. With the new league launching this week, these quality-of-life changes should make Path of Exile 2 feel noticeably better right away.
