This Jewel Costs 1600 Exalted Orbs, But Is It Worth It in PoE2?

Path of Exile 2 players are debating jewels again: socket scarcity, Timeless nerfs, and one rare drop costing over 1600 Exalted Orbs.

One hot topic in the community right now is jewel sockets. Compared to PoE1, sockets are extremely limited in PoE2; most builds only get 2 or 3. That makes it tough to justify niche jewels or radius-based ones, and a lot of players feel like Timeless and Adorned jewels have lost most of their value. Some are frustrated since GGG originally hinted that sockets would be more plentiful in PoE2.

Rakiata’s Flow – Crazy Strong but Pricey

Another highlight is Rakiata’s Flow Support Gem. It inverts enemy elemental resists (so 75% becomes -75%), which makes it insane for boss fights like Arbiter or T3 King. The downside is that penetration no longer works with it, and it does almost nothing in regular mapping since most mobs sit at 0 res. Players also report that it feels inconsistent on some bosses – and at over 1600 ex (Exalted Orbs), it is out of reach for most.

Brutus’ Brain and Companion Support

Brutus’ Brain Lineage Support is also coming up quite often. It makes supported companions take no damage, which is perfect for aurabots or builds that only need one minion for buffs. Apparently, a few players even use it with sacrifice mechanics – like Gas Grenade Gas setups or Soul Offering – to reliably trigger effects without losing the companion.

The Case of Timeless & Cluster Jewels

Timeless jewels were fun back in 0.1, but with the big socket reduction, they feel a lot weaker now. Cluster Jewels are also missed by the community, since they offered flexible build power that is harder to get in PoE2. Min-maxing Timeless Jewels especially feels more RNG-heavy and expensive than before.

What the Community Has Noticed

  • Rogue Exiles confuse new players and feel rare, even after spawn rate buffs.
  • Performance issues still bother many, sometimes more than balance.
  • Megalomaniac jewels are as swingy as ever – some super cheap, others absurdly expensive.
  • Companion capture buffs can be game-changing if you grab the right ones.

Overall, the discussion highlights just how much PoE2 has changed when it comes to jewels and build min-maxing. There are a few mechanics that feel stronger than ever (Rakiata’s Flow, Brutus’ Brain), but others (especially Cluster Jewels, sockets) are being missed big time.
