Guide Format

This build guide is split over multiple pages, both to prevent it from getting too long, as well as to help you better find the information you are looking for. In addition to the current page, which presents general information about the build and also contains a Leveling and FAQ section, we have the following pages:

Introduction

The Brutus’ Lead Sprinkler Ancestral Warchief Chieftain is a type of character purely built around a single unique item. The Brutus' Lead Sprinkler Brutus' Lead Sprinkler unique Mace allows you to gain great amounts of Fire damage simply by stacking a lot of Strength on gear and the passive skill tree. With the changes to the passive skill tree in Legion 3.7 this is even easier, and it also allows us to build around Critical Strikes since the Mace has great base Critical Chance.

This totem build has very solid endgame potential both defensively and offensively, it scales extremely well with gear and having your totems leech Life for you is very strong when it comes to being durable in long tough fights.

Build Summary

The only mandatory item is the Brutus' Lead Sprinkler Brutus' Lead Sprinkler. Besides that there are other helpful uniques like Alberon's Warpath Alberon's Warpath, Brawn Brawn, Astramentis Astramentis, Xoph's Blood Xoph's Blood, and others that allow you to reach great amounts of Strength easily. Overall, you can playing the character only with the Mace and gather the currency to gear up as you progress through the game.

Pros & Cons

Pros

+ Hardcore viable
+ Great endgame potential
+ Totem builds allow for safer playstyle in general

Cons

- The clear speed is a bit slower compared to top tier meta builds

Playstyle

Offensively, dropping a set of totems will be enough to clear nearby packs of monsters. Having good uptime on your Diamond Flask Diamond Flask and Silver Flask Silver Flask will improve your damage output significantly.

Defensively, having a decent Life pool and the Life leech from your totems will keep you safe most of the time. Positioning well is also very important: since you do not have to be near enemies, place your totems between you and the foe and stay in a safe spot.

For playstyle, you will move with your Leap Slam Leap Slam and place a set of totems per monster pack. Save your Vaal Ancestral Warchief Vaal Ancestral Warchief totems for tough single targets and use Enduring Cry Enduring Cry to keep up Endurance charges when you have nothing else to do.

Passive tree

Here is an example for the endgame passive skill tree for the build. We choose not to pick Blood Magic and Mortal Conviction simply because running Anger Anger in combination with Precision Precision has great synergy with the build and the build does not have any major Mana problems.

For more information, be sure to check out the Passive Skill Tree page.

Ascendancy, Bandits, and Pantheons

Our Ascendancy, Bandit, and Pantheon Power page goes into detail about all the choices you need to make in these regards.

Gems

We go over all of the gem links this build uses in the end-game on our Gem Link page.

Gear Summary / TL;DR

These items provide a good balance between offense and defense and are enough to deal with the endgame, although there is definitely a room for improvement. Please ensure you read the Gear, Jewels and Flasks page in its entirety.

Our recommendation:

Leveling

As a reminder, we have several guides to help you level up a character.

You can start playing the Infernal Blow Chieftain as early as level 16, when you can equip Facebreaker Facebreaker.

Leveling Trees

Here is an example of the passive skill tree before maps. We rush Resolute Technique, then take the most efficient route, damage and Life wise. You do not need the Endurance charges until you do the Merciless labyrinth. You should head to Duelist first, since you might struggle with Mana, the Mana and Life leech node should fix this problem.

Useful Leveling Unique Items

As you begin a new character, there are few unique items that can boost your power exponentially. Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa allows you to have a 6-Linked skill as early as you get the gems. Wanderlust Wanderlust gives a decent movement speed, which will make your leveling that much more efficient. Goldrim Goldrim provides a lot of elemental resistances, this will let you worry less about gearing when approaching certain Act encounters.

If you are a new player (or if this is your first character for the league), then note that obtaining these items will be very difficult, if not impossible. They are rare drops, which you can otherwise only acquire if you have saved up currency, so do not focus on them too much, and instead simply look for items that match the affix priorities listed in the gearing section above.

Gem Progression

Using Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa will allow you to have 6-Link gem setups early on, which is why we show such examples below. If you cannot get Tabula Rasa (or another item with a 6-Link), then simply prioritize the first gems in each link provided below.

In order to acquire gems that are not available to your class as a quest reward, simply ask a friend to buy them off vendors for you, or buy them yourself from Sioasa in The Library in Act III Library.

FAQ

What map mods should we avoid?

The build dies to Elemental Reflect. No Regeneration is manageable but tough and should also be avoided.

Conclusion

The Infernal Blow Chieftain obliterates foes with powerful Fire damage hits. The build is very budget friendly, with the option to be invested into for good endgame potential.
