New Endgame Story Line

Meet Eagon—an insightful man with a shadowy past, driven by a need to uncover the truth of his origins. But his search has led him far beyond simple answers.

Through his investigation, Eagon has stumbled upon strange distortions in reality. At times, he glimpses a young girl through the rifts—Zana, the daughter of the legendary inventor who once shaped the Atlas. These tears in the fabric of existence aren’t just anomalies—they’re fractured memories, brought to life and warped by the power of the Atlas itself.

Determined and unwavering, Eagon is set on unraveling the source of these disturbances and rescuing Zana from whatever force lies behind them.

Into the Memories

Within the Atlas, you’ll discover Threads of Consciousness—mysterious, thread-like substances that form around the reality-tearing rifts. Using a powerful gauntlet of his own design, Eagon can attune to these memory threads, forging a connection that opens portals into their depths. With his help, you must cross into these fractured memories in search of Zana—or whatever may be left of her.

The realms revealed through Eagon’s device are fully shaped by your Atlas Tree, Scarabs, and Fragments. To uncover the truth behind this Stream of Consciousness, you’ll need to battle through a sequence of Maps and push ever deeper toward its origin

Step Into The Memories

Harnass New Powers

The areas you are asked to investigate are not just regular Maps; they’re influenced by the Memories of Zana herself and have manifested dangerous threats.

This influence manifests as monsters imbued with Memory Petals. Defeating these enemies causes the power of those monsters to transfer onto you.

Each of the Memories within the Threads will grant you a different special ability. The enemy power you received fuels this ability and allows you to use it. As you progress further into the Thread of Memories, the Maps can have more than one Memory and thus you can have more than one powerful ability.

Path of Exile Kalguur Recruitment

Face 3 New Pinnacle Bosses

The final map in each Thread offers a formidable challenge, teeming with unfamiliar monsters and culminating in a battle against a powerful boss. These foes may seem familiar, but they are twisted echoes, drawn from Zana’s memories and distorted by the Atlas into nightmarish forms.

Defeating one of these warped memory bosses allows Eagon to harness their residual power, enabling him to pierce even deeper into the rifts. Within these deeper layers lie Zana’s most pivotal and haunting memories, manifesting as three all-new Pinnacle bosses, each more dangerous than the last.

Path of Exile New Pinnacle Bosses

Reap the Rewards

When you defeat the 3 new Pinnacle bosses, you will be granted new, powerful, unique, and Memory Influenced Maps that will introduce Memory Strands. These new Pinnacle bosses also drop new Crafting Currencies that can be used on Memory Strand items to manipulate them. They also changed the Atlas Passive Tree significantly to support this new endgame content.

The Mercenaries of Trarthus

In the Secrets of the Atlas expansion, they’re introducing the new challenge league, Mercenaries of Trarthus.

In this league, you’ll encounter hardened veterans from the war-torn lands of Trarthus—mercenaries who live by their own rules and offer their deadly skills for a price.

As you explore Wraeclast, you’ll come across these ruthless fighters—one in each area. Each mercenary brings a distinct personality, along with their own unique build, skillset, and gear, ready to be unleashed in battle.

Path of Exile Sectres of the Atlas Mercenaries

Respect Trarthan Tradition

When you encounter a Mercenary, they will challenge you to a duel to test your strength.
Before the duel begins, you will be offered an overview of the Mercenary you found. You then have the opportunity to decide whether you want to reward your victory, exile them, or hire their services.

Find your perfect companion

When you decide to hire a Mercenary, you can view their items, skills they have equipped, and some basic stats that are randomly generated for each Mercenary, based on a range of class archetypes.

The Mercenaries that you have in reserve or active can have their equipment replaced with items you like. Keep in mind that their level will not change when you hire them, so keep looking out for more powerful and skilled Mercenaries as you play through the campaign and Endgame.

Trarthan Armaments

In Secrets of the Atlas, you may also find Trarthan Mercenaries that bear the name of their house. Those Mercenaries are the descendants of four major death trade families in Trarthus. These noble Mercenaries are less common, but their equipped items are significantly better. These noble Mercenaries are also the only source of the new infamous modifiers.

When you fight a Mercenary, you can come across one that is using different skills than normal. If you’re lucky, you might be able to select these skills as your reward after challenging them.

Complete All Challenges

The Mercenaries Challenge League introduces a brand-new set of 40 optional challenges to test your skill and determination. As you progress, you’ll unlock pieces of the Watcher’s Wrath Armour Set—a striking new microtransaction reward.

You can start earning these rewards as early as completing just four challenges, with additional pieces granted as you take on and conquer even more.

Betrayal Rework

In the Secrets of the Atlas Expansion, they are reworking the Betrayal League mechanic.

You can fight the Mastermind boss now through a new fragment that can drop from Safehouse Leaders. Fighting the boss will no longer reset the Immortal Syndicate board. They also improved the boss fight with a lot fewer immunity phases, new rewards called Allflame Embers.

They’ve also worked on a lot of Quality of Life improvements to Betrayal, changed Safehouse rewards, and added Veiled Chaos Orbs back to the rewards. The Atlas Tree nodes are reworked, and the Scarabs that modify it.

Quality of Life Features Added

In the Secrets of the Atlas League, they’ve added a number of quality of life improvements that people have been asking for. You no longer have to talk to the NPC to unveil items, but you can use Orbs of Horizon on Elder-Guardian and Conqueror maps.
Like in Path of Exile 2, you can now pause the game! They also added a small inventory to the Map Device and added several other useful features.
