The rejected of the rejected

The Afarud, known for their morally questionable actions among the Faridun, have allied with Saresh, a formidable necromancer who has raised an army of the undead to pursue vengeance against the Maraketh. Their goal is to locate and utilize the power of the Djinn for their own purposes to advance their conflict with the Maraketh. Varashta, a significant Sekhema who has been in a state of suspended time for many ages, will provide assistance as you work to stop the Afarud’s plans in Wraeclast.

The Mirage Challenge League

In the Mirage Challenge League, players will come across the souls of Djinn that are trapped by the Afarud and will need to work on liberating them.

To release these souls, players must enter the Mirage that the Djinn create, which is an imperfect replica of the surrounding area. They will have to battle monsters, navigate through astral hazards, and confront Afarud mages to reach the tether binding the Djinn. Upon freeing them, players will receive rewards.

Choose Your Wish

Being a Djinn herself, Varashta can offer you a further mote of ancient Maraketh power, providing you with three wishes to choose from. Each of these is a powerful modifier which will augment the Mirage you enter.

Empowered Leagues and Rewards

The Mirage enhances any league mechanic that operates within its dominion. Created by the Astral realm, these encounters function uniquely and may offer unusual and significant rewards.

Restore Maraketh Artefacts

The Afarud are known for both their acts of torture and theft. Over the centuries, they have taken many valuable Maraketh artifacts and, through their magical abilities, have altered these items to serve their own ends.

Players can choose to harness the forbidden power of these corrupted artifacts or work towards restoring them to their original state with the assistance of Varashta

Restore Maraket

Imbue Your Skills

Slain enemies in Mirages will rarely drop some of the most powerful instruments of Maraketh Magic – Coins of Power, Skill or Knowledge. Each of these can be used on a level 20 Skill Gem, corrupting it and imbuing it with a Level 1 Support effect which will inherently support that Skill.

Imbue

Saresh, of the Weeping Black

By meddling in the affairs of the Afarud, you will eventually draw the ire of Saresh, the necromancer supreme. Do you dare to face him and put a stop to his marauding undead legion?

New Holy Skill Gems

They are introducing a range of new Holy Skill Gems. You can strike the ground to summon a hammer of justice, call forth an army of divine armaments, or unleash a blast of righteous anger powered by the sun.

Endgame Revised

In Path of Exile: Mirage, significant updates are being introduced to the Atlas and Mapping systems.

Map items no longer need to match a specific map item to enter a corresponding map area. Instead, you will have a map item of a certain tier that can be used to access any map on your Atlas that is of equal or lower tier.

You will still have the option to choose any map you want to access by selecting it through the Atlas Screen. The Atlas screen will default to the last opened map, enabling you to run the same map again with minimal clicks.

Fractured Atlas

The structure of the Atlas has been revised: you will start at the center of the Atlas, with each corner containing one of the four Voidstones, and all content accessible from your map device is now represented physically on the Atlas. Exploration of the Atlas is necessary to identify the locations of the various Atlas entities.

Many of these Atlas entities now provide Atlas Skill Points, giving you the opportunity to acquire more than previously possible. It is no longer necessary to complete all Unique Maps to earn your Atlas Skill Points; you now only need to complete any 10 to achieve the maximum number.

Shaped Regions

In this expansion, players will continue to assist Eagon in his search for Zana. By utilizing Arcane Astrolabes, players will be able to reveal Shaped Regions, which are unstable areas throughout the Atlas that Eagon must stabilize to move closer to his ultimate goal, the Memory Vaults. Shaped Regions impose a baseline effect on every affected map, and each map within the region has a specific completion requirement. Completing a map within a Shaped Region results in every other map in that region receiving an additional modifier. This increases the difficulty of the maps as players progress, with the associated mechanics intensifying significantly.

Treasures Await

Once you have successfully fully completed a Shaped Region, Eagon will be able to bring you along to a Memory Vault. There are four Vaults to explore, with each of them holding powerful rewards for you, and scraps of lost knowledge for Eagon.

Over 40 New Exceptional Support Gems

After defeating the Endgame Incarnation bosses in Path of Exile: Mirage, new Support Gems will start to drop from certain Atlas Bosses. These new Support Gems are classified as Exceptional, representing a notable expansion of that category of Support gem.

Exceptional Support Gems provide more transformative options, offering an additional means to customize your build in the late game and further extending character customization throughout the build’s lifespan.

Endgame Systems Overhaul

Alongside the major overhaul, the Endgame is getting some other changes. The way the Voidstones work has been changed, Petal skills have been removed, Scarabs have received a balance pass, and more.

Tier 17 Maps have recieved significant changes to better align with their original design. These are now called Nightmare Maps and are now tier 16, with their primary purpose being to obtain Uber Boss Fragments.

Wield the Flame

In Path of Exile: Mirage, Ailith and the Monastery of the Keepers replace the old Breach mechanic. Successfully completing Breach encounters grants Hiveblood, which can be used to grow items from the Genesis Tree.

In the endgame, this mechanic receives full Scarab and Atlas Tree support, with Notables and Keystones that allow players to control the type of Breach encounter they find in maps, increase difficulty and rewards, and more.
