Dawn of the Hunt was meant to push Path of Exile 2 forward, but not everything has gone according to plan. Over the past few weeks, players have voiced various growing frustrations with the state of the game, and Grinding Gear Games is preparing Patch 0.2.0g in response.

Patch 0.2.0g brings quite a few big changes to Path of Exile 2’s Dawn of the Hunt, including better Nexus progression, easier Expeditions, and improved loot rewards.

Why Players Are Frustrated

When Dawn of the Hunt launched, it quickly became clear that the game’s difficulty had taken a rather sharp turn. Content like Expeditions, Simulacrums, and even early Corrupted Nexus nodes felt severely overtuned, punishing players before they had a chance to gear up or learn new mechanics.

Progression also felt much slower than expected. Many players found themselves stuck in long, unrewarding grinds, with meaningful loot drops gated behind steep difficulty curves. Popular builds were hit with nerfs as well, which left lots of us players struggling to find reliable options without heavy investment or trading focus.

The combination of difficulty spikes, slower rewards, and limited build options then led to a wave of negative feedback across Reddit, forums, and reviews. GGG openly acknowledged the problems, promising to make adjustments without giving up on the league’s core ideas.

What Patch 0.2.0g Is Changing

The goal of Patch 0.2.0g is to directly address these issues.
The update is expected to go live sometime this week, although there has not been an official announcement yet. Based on the latest information, here are the key improvements you can expect:

  • Corrupted Nexus adjustments: Early progression will be smoother, corruption will scale less aggressively at first, and better loot will start dropping earlier.
  • Expedition tuning: Early Expedition content will be made easier to help players gear up before facing harder waves.
  • Simulacrum changes: The scaling of Simulacrums will be more gradual, giving you more time to prepare for tougher enemies and better rewards.
  • General balance improvements: Additional bug fixes, quality-of-life changes, and minor skill adjustments based on ongoing feedback.

These changes are supposed to improve the midgame experience without removing the challenge entirely. GGG has made it clear they still want Path of Exile 2 to feel difficult and rewarding, but they are adjusting the curve to make it more accessible, especially early on.

Waiting for the Patch

At the time of writing this, we are still waiting for a confirmed release date for 0.2.0g.
Based on previous developer posts, it is expected to arrive sometime this week. Once it goes live, it will be the biggest test yet for how well Grinding Gear Games can adapt to player feedback and rebuild momentum after a rocky start to Dawn of the Hunt.
