Keepers of the Flame Mechanic Guide Genesis Tree
Introduction
The Genesis Tree is the core reward system of Keepers of the Flame. Whether it’s Grafts, crafting equipment, or making Foulborn Uniques, the Genesis Tree is the key to cashing out your rewards!
This is a WIP Guide, as the Keepers of the Flame Challenge League has recently launched. As such, information in this guide may be inaccurate, incomplete, or changed by GGG at any time.
Genesis Tree

The Genesis Tree allows you to spend Graftblood to turn in Wombgifts that you get from Keepers content. The actual rewards that you get are influenced by the passives you have selected on the Genesis Tree – allowing you to customize your rewards.
Progressing the Genesis Tree

The Genesis Tree grows and unlocks more points for you to allocate as you complete Keepers encounters, and spend Graftblood on Womgifts at the tree.
These are the quest items you can get to grow your tree:
- Horned Skull – Complete a Hive
- Handmouth – Complete a Hive (Act 2+)
- Clasped Skull – Complete a Hive (Act 3+)
- Severed Limb – Complete a Hive (Act 6+)
- Strange Limb – Complete a Hive (Maps)
- Claw Bramble – Complete a Breach Hand (Act 4+)
- Foul Hand – Complete a Breach Hand (Maps)
- Spiked Limb – Complete a Hive Fortress
- The Head of Vruun – Defeat Vruun, Marshal of Xesht (Maps)
- Breachlord Limbs – Defeat Esh & Tul in a Hive Colony
Quick-Crafting

You can quickly craft Wombgifts by clicking on the slot on the Genesis Tree, and then Ctrl+clicking on the gift you want to craft. It will instantly craft that Wombgift – letting you rapidly craft many gifts in rapid succession!
Equipment Item Crafting
The Equipment Item Crafting is the most similar to existing crafting methods in the game. The passives you can select allow you to bias the crafted items towards specific typs of Equipment and modifiers – allowing you to create powerful Rare equipment cheaply and easily!
Sockets and Links

On of the most powerful options for early on, the passives that rerolled sockets and links many times enables you to create 6L items incredibly easily. Make use of it to get powerful starting gear early on!
Fractured Modifier

The “Solid Cysts” passive is one of the most important for endgame crafting. Many crafted items begin with a fractured Tier 1 modifier, and selecting this passive will allow you the generate huge quantities of fractured items.
In conjunction with the other passives you can select, you can target specific types of modifiers on specific items – allowing you to target exactly the fracture that you want.
Specific fractured items are normally very expensive to get your hands on – so take advantage of this to make crafting bases you need!
Modifer Tier Rating

Modifier Tier Rating is very simple – it makes the modifiers on the generated equipment better.
While simple, this stat is hugely important for almost any crafting strategy – you’re going to want to take every passive that offers it.
Remove Lowest Tier Modifier

The passive that removes the lowest tier modifier is practically mandatory for creating good items – removing a (likely) terrible modifier to give yourself room for further crafting will make it far easier for you to create top-tier items with Genesis Tree crafting!
Equipment Type Specialization

If you’re targeting specific types of equipment, these passives allow you to dramatically increase your odds of getting the ones you want. This is extremely important if you’re trying to get a specific base!
Modifier Specialization

If you’re targeting a specific modifier for the purposes of fracturing, these passives help you dramatically boost the odds of the modifier you want – and reduce the odds of modifiers you don’t want.
Unique Item Crafting
Foulborn Chance
If you’re targeting Uniques with foulborn modifiers, you’ll want to get as much Foulborn Chance as you can.
Unique Rarity

Unless you’re targeting a specific, common unique, you’ll want this passive. Less common Uniques tend to be more valuable, after all.
Multiple Foulborn Modifiers

This passive is the only way to get Unique items with multiple Foulborn modifiers. If that’s something you’re targeting (or is valuable) this passive becomes mandatory.
Additional Unique

Unless you’re attempting to avoid Foulborn modifiers, this node is nearly mandatory. Extra Uniques also means extra shots at getting what you’re after – meaning no other passive juices your odds like this one does.
Corrupted Uniques

This passive is a bit weird. Generally corrupted uniques are valuable when they have double corrupt implicits, which this passive doesn’t do.
I’d recommend only taking this if you’re after Foulborn Uniques and want to maximize your chance of getting them.
Currency Item Crafting
If you’re not feeling adventurous, converting your blood into raw currency is a great way to profit off of the Keepers mechanic.
Graft Item Crafting
Your options for crafting Grafts are quite limited. However, you can target specific types of grafts for your build, if your build cares about specific Fraft skills.
Mysterious Item Crafting
While the full scope of what you can get out of Mysterious Wombgifts isn’t known, it seems to be primarily Stacked Decks, other Wombgifts, and Leveled/Quality Gems.
