Introduction

Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast has been acknowledged as many to be one of the best skills in the game for reaching the best possible rates of experience per hour. Packs are torn apart in an instant, the screen exploding in a satisfying shatter, and it has the single-target damage to back it up on just about any content the game can throw at you. Kinetic Blast builds, also known as KB, are also widely considered to be among the most delightful to play, largely due to the speed, strength, and unique style that a wander presents. If you have tuned in to any of the biggest Path of Exile streamers over the last few leagues, you have doubtless seen them playing a Kinetic Blast build at some point.

While Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast is a fantastic skill for clearing, it lacks the heavy and sustained punch of a proper single-target skill. We also prefer to play builds that do not require you to constant swap out Greater Multiple Projectiles Support Greater Multiple Projectiles Support with a single target special, such as Slower Projectiles Support Slower Projectiles Support, each and every time you approach a boss. Not only is this a needless annoyance, but inevitably you end up accidentally dropping one of the gems instead of placing it in your inventory.

In order to properly address this deficiency, we have opted to use a Barrage Barrage link, similar to our Tornado Shot Deadeye build. These two builds share similar strengths: they smash through maps like the wind with unparalleled clear speeds, they clear multiple screens with that infamous Herald of Ice Herald of Ice crunch, and they both need a little help from Barrage to tackle the tankier targets. This builds clears about as fast as our Tornado Shot Tornado Shot guide, but it has better defenses and can deal with more content without as much investment. The Tornado Shot build, however, is designed to be set up as Magic Find option that will allow you to build piles of currency.

This build is well-balanced and especially suited for players looking to reach Level 100 efficiently, and is a perfect choice for Hardcore and Softcore alike.

Build Assessment

Pros

+ Fastest build in Path of Exile for clearing
+ Strong defenses (95%+ chance to avoid attacks)
+ High movement speed (capped Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest speed bonus)
+ Top tier experience per hour
+ Good build for Hardcore players as well
+ Extremely fun to play (in most players’ eyes)
+ Excellent League Starter AND Finisher
+ One of the easiest builds to take to Level 100
+ Satisfying Herald of Ice Herald of Ice shatter-chains
+ Deals with practically all content

Cons

- Mediocre single target without proper gear or links
- Not specialized for boss hunting, but can deal with the standard bosses such as Uber Elder without issues
- Can sometimes feel ‘too fast’

Playstyle

The primary purpose of this build is to achieve the fastest clear speeds possible while remaining safe and secure, all while maintaining respectable single target damage (~1.5 million DPS in end-game gear). Due to the massive amount of Evasion we accrue, Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest propels us to lightning-quick movement speeds, allowing us to zip through the maps while shattering everything on — and a lot of what is off — the screen.

Players looking to maximize their experience rates will find this to be the ideal build, because it does the two most important things incredibly well: it rips apart maps, and it is very safe. It is well suited to players who enjoy zippy, high tempo builds and enjoy the gratifying sensation of seeing everything around them explode into bits of ice. This build makes an excellent league starter, but newer or less experienced players who lack the knowledge to generate currency at the start of a new league may find they struggle to acquire the core items as quickly. Only a few Exalted Orb Exalted Orbs are needed to get the build fully online; decide for yourself whether or not you consider this to be “expensive”.

Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast is a wand skill, and one of the only wand builds that still remains a contender for the throne. Many players, even those who have played thousands of hours, have never actually played a wander. If this is the case for you, we definitely recommend giving this build a chance – you will almost certainly not regret it.

Skill Trees

This is our recommended Level 100 Passive Skill Tree. Leave the bottom part of the tree for last, particularly keystones like Vaal Pact. Point Blank is also not recommended until you start to feel like your damage on single targets or Rares is not sufficient to delete them instantly — usually, this is around the time you are finishing Uber Lab for the first time in the mid 80s.

Gems

Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast is our main skill for clearing and general play. For any situation where we need strong single target damage, we instead use Barrage Barrage for its potent single-target damage. Kinetic Blast requires a wand, which means that we can only work one 6-Link into our build. This is absolutely fine, however, as Kinetic Blast only needs a 4-Link to rip apart practically all enemies with the weapon(s) that can be used in the build. The advantage of this is that it allows us to index heavily towards single target, giving Barrage a proper 6-Link and helm enchant to ensure we still have the damage to slaughter formidable targets, such as the Uber Elder, with relative ease.

For additional damage and shatter-chains, the auras Herald of Ice Herald of Ice and Wrath Wrath are employed. This adds a great deal of offense and defense to the build via Shock, Freeze, and Shatter. Shattered enemies, for example, can not be exploded by any form of detonate dead mechanic, which is a great convenience to have in your build. Vaal Grace Vaal Grace is also used for the active effect, which makes us practically unhittable while active due to the sheer amount of Evasion and Dodge this build accrues.

A variety of buffs are employed to empower the build even further. Summon Ice Golem Summon Ice Golem adds some additional Critical Strike, which makes it quite easy to reach guaranteed Critical status when using a Diamond Flask. Frenzy Charges and Power Charges are both used as well, and are especially useful for beefy bosses, where full uptime of a Diamond Flask is not possible or guaranteed. Blood Rage Blood Rage is a natural complement for the build, and takes care of the Frenzy Charge generation organically. Power Charges are generated using Brinerot Flag Brinerot Flag and a Warcry, and using Assassin's Mark Assassin's Mark.

For all the gem links we provide below, keep in mind that we list the gems in order of priority (starting from the top left, going to the right on each row of the links), meaning that if you lack the required number of sockets to fit all the gems, the first ones to drop are the ones at the bottom (with the bottom right being the last). Also note that in-game, as long as the sockets are linked, it makes no difference at all what order the gems are placed in.

Barrage 6-Link

This is our link that is mainly used for single target and bossing. Since we utilizing Point Blank to significantly boost our damage, Slower Projectiles Support Slower Projectiles Support has no real downside and results in a massive damage spike once the sixth link is acquire on your Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest.

Barrage Barrage Elemental Damage with Attacks Support Elemental Damage with Attacks Support
Added Lightning Damage Support Added Lightning Damage Support Elemental Focus Support Elemental Focus Support
Lightning Penetration Support Lightning Penetration Support Slower Projectiles Support Slower Projectiles Support

Kinetic Blast 4-Link

This is our main skill for clearing and general gameplay.

Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast Greater Multiple Projectiles Support Greater Multiple Projectiles Support
Elemental Damage with Attacks Support Elemental Damage with Attacks Support Pierce Support Pierce Support

Herald of Ice 4-Link

This link is employed in order to enable shatter-chains, Power Charge generation while clearing, and Onslaught.

Herald of Ice Herald of Ice Onslaught Support Onslaught Support
Assassin's Mark Assassin's Mark Curse On Hit Support Curse On Hit Support

If you are using Tombfist Tombfist you should replace Onslaught Support Onslaught Support with Summon Ice Golem Summon Ice Golem, and look for Onslaught chance on kill on one or two Abyss jewels.

Wrath 2/4-Link

If you are using Tombfist Tombfist, simply drop Enlighten Support Enlighten Support from the link and slot this in your gloves. The reduced Mana reservation from not having Onslaught Support Onslaught Support in your Herald link will compensate. Level 4 is, of course, not necessary to get the build working, and is more of a convenience than anything.

Wrath Wrath Empower Support Empower Support (Level 4)
Enlighten Support Enlighten Support (Level 4) Summon Ice Golem Summon Ice Golem

Vaal Skill 3-Link

You could opt to add Vaal Haste Vaal Haste instead, but we feel this build already feels like a Formula 1 car, and can even feel “too fast” in some areas that are very tight or difficult to navigate.

Vaal Grace Vaal Grace Phase Run Phase Run
Increased Duration Support Increased Duration Support

Blood Rage 3-Link

You may, of course, use Blood Rage Blood Rage completely on its own and unlinked while you are league starting or accruing currency.

Blood Rage Blood Rage Empower Support Empower Support (Level 4)
Enhance Support Enhance Support (Level 4)

Brinerot Flag 3-Link

This is an off-hand swap used on for tough bosses that do not have enough extra enemies to provide stable Power Charge generation. This is not a link that goes into the build for standard play, and you must be using Brinerot Flag Brinerot Flag and Storm Prison Storm Prison as a weapon swap in order for this link to work correctly. You may use any Warcry in this link, as preference suits you.

Rallying Cry Rallying Cry Increased Duration Support Increased Duration Support
Enhance Support Enhance Support (Level 4)

Enhance Support Enhance Support is used to extend the duration as much as possible, but is such a small quality of life thing that it should not be prioritized until long after all the core upgrades are completed.

Ascendancy, Bandits, and Pantheon

Ascendancy

  1. Nature’s Boon
  2. Master Alchemist
  3. Veteran Bowyer
  4. Nature’s Adrenaline

Additional Information

Nature’s Boon is not much of a first point for leveling, but it is a small convenience if you are employing flasks other than Mana and Life early in the game. Late game, this node starts to feel incredible, particularly for bossing and longer fights, as it significantly increases your flask uptime, and helps with reduced charges mods.

Master Alchemist is the most important acquisition, hence why we rush towards it straight away. While the tooltip for this one is pretty self-explanatory, it is essentially a big injection of damage any time you have a flask running, plus the additional defenses from chance to freeze.

Veteran Bowyer feels really great going into maps for the first time, allowing you to easily maintain flask charges in any situation that there are killable enemies as well as slapping a fat amount of extra damage and penetration on our build. This one feels really good on bosses, and you will definitely feel the difference.

Nature’s Adrenaline could be taken third, depending on your preference, but we feel this is more of an “icing on the cake” point, and it does not have the same feel of immediate power increase that Veteran Bowyer does. The movement speed is fantastic for clearing, however, and the Attack Speed really does mean a lot once you have the proper items and are well and truly into the end-game.

Deal With the Bandits Reward

Generally, killing all of them is the best option for the end-game. Alira, however, offers valuable resistances and multiplier that can make it a better choice for league starting. We recommend Alira for league starting and hardcore, and swapping to the 2 Passives once you no longer need the Resistances and can put the points to meaningful use in the end-game (for example, to fit in another Jewel).

Pantheon

As with many builds, Pantheon choices are rather flexible and can be adjusted to suit the situation and personal preference.

Major Gods

  • Soul of Solaris is one of the safest choices when fully upgraded, preventing Critical Strike chains and potential ailments against your character.
  • Soul of Lunaris adds a bit of Physical damage reduction and even more Movement Speed to the build.

Minor Gods

  • Soul of Shakari is a good all purpose choice, particularly with the Incursion league being added as a permanent fixture. The upgrade, granting Poison immunity, is particularly good and removes a map affix from any sort of relevance entirely.
  • Soul of Ralakesh is a good choice for Uber Atziri, or if you want to remove Blind/Maim entirely.
  • Soul of Yugul is typically the best choice for Shaper and [Uber] Elder.

Gear, Jewels, and Flasks

Armor

Chest

Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest is absolutely mandatory to play the build properly, and the core item that the entire premise revolves around. One of the best chests, if not the best, in the game for pure clear speed, it also comes with a massive helping of Evasion, some nice Life, and a smattering of Resistances. This should be your first pickup in any league, and the fact that it is so cheap, relative to most “core item status” Unique chests, makes it all the sweeter. You will use this chest for the entire league.

Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa is fine for leveling and an easily farmable alternative that could be used for the first day or two of a new league.

Head

There are three main options for the build, all of them Unique and affordable.

Rat's Nest Rat's Nest offers the most damage, and a high amount of Evasion to feed in to Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest‘s Unique bonus. The Movement Speed is the icing on the cake and we feel this item is the perfect marriage between Starkonja’s and Devoto’s main benefits.

Starkonja's Head Starkonja's Head offers the best defenses of the three, at the expense of some damage, sporting a large amount of Life and Evasion.

Devoto's Devotion Devoto's Devotion is an option if finding the helm enchant for one of the other two proves difficult. It offers the best movement speed of the three, at the expense of a small chunk of damage. Without having Critical Strike on the helm, you will need better pieces elsewhere, and the lack of Life means that Rat's Nest Rat's Nest is virtually always a superior option.

Overall, we feel Rat's Nest Rat's Nest to be the best option for most players.

The Labyrinth Enchant for this build is Barrage Fires an Additional Projectile.

Gloves

Thunderfist Thunderfist is the best option for damage, and are likely to be a better pickup early on than a Rare, unless you desperately need Resistances. Your Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast 4-Link should be socketed within this item to create a pseudo 5-Link. Under very specific circumstances, however, you might instead opt to use Barrage Barrage in your Thunderfist. Two examples that come to mind are very early in a new league if you acquire Thunderfist before a 5-Link, or if you are starting a new character on a SSF league with this item already in your stash. Once you have a proper 5-Link for Barrage, you would move Kinetic Blast to the gloves as advised.

A Rare pair of Gripped Gloves is the best overall option for players looking to reach Level 100 or minimize deaths. Prioritize the stats as follows:

  1. Life
  2. Attack Speed
  3. [Uncapped] Resistances
  4. Accuracy (if you are below ~90%)
  5. % Increased Evasion
  6. +# to Evasion

A really luxury pair of Gripped Gloves could also have the Socketed Gems have +3.5% Critical Strike chance affix that is crafted using Essence of Horror.

Tombfist Tombfist with 2 Abyssal sockets can theoretically still be the best choice, despite the removal of Attack Speed, but it would require top tier Abyss Jewels. It also leaves your Mana pool a little fragile, which can be annoying, particularly on longer bosses where you are attacking consistently. Generally, we do not recommend Tombfist in their current state unless you know what you are doing and have done the math in advance.

Boots

Atziri's Step Atziri's Step is the best overall option and always cheap at any point in the league. A massive amount of Evasion, Spell Dodge, and some nice Life and Movement Speed (remember that Evasion feeds Movement Speed as well, due to Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest) cement these boots as the best-in-slot bar none.

Rare boots are also an option, and you can get Spell Dodge (though not as much as Atziri’s Step) from thing’s like Essence of Scorn, Elder Suffix, and Corruptions. This allows for you to have Resistances on your boots, however, you are going to have to pay an absurd amount to get a pair of boots comparable to the recommended Unique.

The recommended enchant for you boots is Adds 1-160 Lightning Damage if you Haven’t Killed Recently. This adds a lot of damage for bosses, which is where our damage needs the most reinforcement.

Weapon and Off-Hand

Weapon

Piscator's Vigil Piscator's Vigil is the classic Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast item, and for good reason — you will simply not find a better wand for the price, and it even rivals some Shaped wands that are worth tens of Exalted Orb Exalted Orbs (for this build). This should be an early pickup for you, and you will use it either until the end of the league, or until you can afford a mirror-quality weapon (or close). One of the great advantages of using a Unique weapon like Piscator’s is that finding a good Corruption with the colors you need is actually quite easy, and can be done relatively early into the league. The best option is Flat Lightning Damage, but the Piscator’s must be at least Item Level 84 for the top roll. Damage Penetrates Elemental Resistances is another great choice.

To find a worthwhile upgrade from Piscator's Vigil Piscator's Vigil, you will want six of the following stats, in order of priority, and they should be Tier 2 or higher rolls:

  1. Adds Lightning Damage to Attacks
    • % Increased Critical Chance
    • % Global Critical Strike Multiplier
    • % Attack Speed
    • Gain % of Elemental Damage as Bonus Chaos Damage
    • % Increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills
    • % Increased Lightning Damage
    • Adds Cold/Fire Damage to Attacks (only if you already have Flat Lightning Damage)

Shield

A Rare shield is the best option for general clearing. Do not use an Energy Shield or Armor based shield, as we need the extra Evasion to boost our movement speed and defenses even further. Prioritize the stats as follows:

  1. +# to Maximum Life
  2. [Uncapped] Resistances
  3. % Increased Evasion
  4. Accuracy (if you are below ~90%)
  5. +# to Evasion Rating
  6. % Increased Attack Speed

Brinerot Flag Brinerot Flag will be used in your weapon swap off-hand to generate Power Charges, as detailed under the Gems section.

Accessories

Amulet

Using a Rare amulet is the best option for any situation. Prioritize the stats as follows:

  1. +# to Maximum Life
  2. Adds # Lightning Damage to Attacks
  3. % Increased Global Critical Strike Chance
  4. % Increased Global Critical Strike Multiplier
  5. % Increased Attack Speed
  6. % Increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills
  7. % Increased Lightning Damage

Feel free to work in any Resistances you need to fill out, as needed.

Rings

Rare Opal Ring Opal Rings are the best choice for any situation. Swap to a Resistance base if you do not have enough Resistances on the rest of your gear to remain capped. Rings are mainly used to cap our Resistances for this build. Prioritize the stats as follows:

  1. +# to Maximum Life
  2. Resistances
  3. Adds # Lightning Damage to Attacks
  4. % Increased Attack Speed
  5. Accuracy Rating (if below ~90%)
  6. % Increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills
  7. % Increased Lightning Damage
  8. Adds # Cold/Fire Damage to Attacks

There are plenty of other combinations as well, and some pretty insane Rings can be created through Essence crafting and the like, but they are not realistic pickups and generally have to be crafted rather than purchased. Check out poeaffix.net to peruse possible options — for example, crafting 26% Increased Global Critical Strike Chance using Deafening Essence of Loathing is outstanding, but not at the expense of all the other stats listed above.

Belt

A Stygian Vise Stygian Vise is the best choice, as we can extract enormous benefit from Abyss jewels. Your belt will be where you need to make up a huge amount of Resistances. Remember you can always start with cheaper options, and do not necessarily need a Stygian Vise with Tier 1 rolls immediately.

  1. [Uncapped] Resistances
  2. +# to Maximum Life
  3. % Increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills
  4. % Increased Lightning Damage (Delve Prefix)
  5. % Increased Movement Speed During Flask Effect (luxury)

Jewels

Unique Jewels

Conqueror's Potency Conqueror's Potency is used to help us achieve 50% Flask Effectiveness, which adds an additional projectile to the effect of Dying Sun Dying Sun. If you do not have Dying Sun yet, this Jewel is not necessary. This is a very large single target increase.

Watcher's Eye Watcher's Eye can offer massive increases to damage, especially as the Wrath affixes are exceptional for our build. Prioritize as follows:

  1. % Increased Critical Strike Chance while affected by Wrath Wrath
  2. Damage Penetrates % Lightning Resistance while affected by Wrath Wrath
  3. % Increased Lightning Damage while affected by Wrath Wrath
  4. % of Lightning Damage Leeched as Mana while affected by Wrath Wrath

Getting a triple Wrath Wrath Watcher’s Eye will cost hundreds of Exalted Orb Exalted Orbs and is only likely to pop up a handful of times a league —this is not something you should aim for. Start with just the Critical Strike bonus to help your shatter-chains become more consistent, and eventually you can upgrade to one with 2 Wrath mods once you are wealthy. This Jewel is not necessary for the build, but it is a great luxury item to sink some currency towards once you are kitted out.

Abyss Jewels

We will use Abyss Jewels in all other slots. The Searching Eye Jewel is the best base. Prioritize the stats on your Jewels as follows:

  1. 40+ Maximum Life
  2. Adds # Lightning Damage to Wand Attacks
  3. Adds # Lightning Damage to Attacks
  4. % Chance to Gain Onslaught on Kill (only 1-2 of your Jewels should have this mod, but it is important you have at least one)
  5. % Increased Global Critical Strike Multiplier
  6. % Increased Attack Speed if You’ve Dealt a Critical Strike Recently
  7. % Increased Attack Speed
  8. Adds # Cold/Fire Damage to [Wand] Attacks

Flasks

Flasks are a huge part of this build, as the main advantage of playing a Pathfinder revolves around enhancing the power of your flasks. Dying Sun Dying Sun is the most important for damage, however, it is generally quite expensive early in the league and can be swapped out for something cheaper, such as Atziri's Promise Atziri's Promise. You should prioritize the acquisition of Flasks after your early items, however, as you are missing out on a big part of the power of your Ascendancy if you are not using the proper items.

The Evasion Flasks are extremely important towards achieving a maximum move speed bonus for your Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest. Since we are a Pathfinder you should always be keeping 100% Flask uptime throughout maps, leaving you with the maximum movement speed possible.

Basic Flask Setup

End-Game Flask Setup (Maps)

You have to decide on what Flask suffixes are most important to you. Having of Reflexes somewhere is quite helpful once you start running the Jade Flask, but you will have to incorporate bleed immunity somewhere as well. You can also obtain a Corrupting Blood Cannot be Inflicted on You corruption on your Conqueror's Potency Conqueror's Potency, although you will still have to beware of Puncture bleeds. The of Warding suffix can also be dropped, but you will have to avoid running Temporal Chains maps.

End-Game Flask Setup (Uber Elder)

Your Lightning Resistance must be your highest resistance, or equal to the other two, in order to use The Wise Oak The Wise Oak.

Once again, if you do not have one of the requisite flasks, simply use Atziri's Promise Atziri's Promise.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to level with this build, as it will not work straight from Act I. If you are not league starting as this build, the most convenient way to do it is as a Bow build, but you will need basic leveling uniques such as the Storm Cloud Storm Cloud in order to actually comfortably deal with Act bosses. Rain of Arrows Rain of Arrows and Lightning Arrow Lightning Arrow are both fine choices, though it is a little easier to flesh out your links with the former.

Rain of Arrows Rain of Arrows Elemental Damage with Attacks Support Elemental Damage with Attacks Support
Added Lightning Damage Support Added Lightning Damage Support Elemental Focus Support Elemental Focus Support

If you are using a Tabula Rasa Tabula Rasa, you can add in additional support gems depending on your preference. If your leveling gear is good, for example, you can put in Increased Area of Effect Support Increased Area of Effect Support and clear entire screens. Controlled Destruction Support Controlled Destruction Support (while you are low on Critical Strike), Added Cold Damage Support Added Cold Damage Support, and Mirage Archer Support Mirage Archer Support are great choices here. Grab Herald of Ice Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder Herald of Thunder as soon as possible for the added elemental damage.

If you are league starting as this build, you will have a more difficult time leveling as a bow build, but it is still doable. If you do not want to subject yourself to it, you will instead have to adjust your build and items to use a different skill until Piscator's Vigil Piscator's Vigil can be acquired; for example, Soulrend Soulrend or Essence Drain Essence Drain are good choices.

FAQ

How Do I Get Maximum Movement Speed from Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest?

Using a Jade Flask Jade Flask of Reflexes and Stibnite Flask Stibnite Flask pushes us well over 50,000 Evasion rating, which is past Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest‘s Movement Speed bonus cap (45,000 Evasion). Since we are playing Pathfinder and this build is fundamentally focused on clearing above all else, Flasks can be considered a virtually permanent bonus and a fundamental part of the build’s power and purpose — that is the entire reason of playing Pathfinder to begin with.

I Can’t Afford the Item You Recommend

Most of the items recommended in the guide, especially the Jewels, are not necessary right out of the gate. You can be smashing through maps in under 2 minutes without much gear at all. Once you have your Piscator's Vigil Piscator's Vigil, Thunderfist Thunderfist (great for early in the league due to the all the flat damage), and Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest, you will already be a race car. Many of the other recommended Uniques, like Atziri's Step Atziri's Step and Rat's Nest Rat's Nest, can also be obtained either day one or very early for only a few Chaos Orb Chaos Orbs.

Should I Use Grace Grace?

Check this comment response to see why we only bother to use the active component of Vaal Grace Vaal Grace, and not the base Grace Grace aura itself.

I’m Struggling to Level

Leveling Rangers is not always the most convenient, as many of the end-game builds that favor the use of this class are Critical Strike based and thus not as strong early in the game. If leveling very smoothly and efficiently is a priority, consider planning out another build purely for leveling that you can easily switch over once you have your feet under you in the league.

Why Don’t You Have an “of Heat” Flask?

The Master Alchemist node provides Elemental Ailment immunity during any Flask effect.

Is This Build Viable as Low-Life?

While it is viable as Low-Life, the movement speed from Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest is one of the staple benefits of this build. By adapting it to use Shavronne's Wrappings Shavronne's Wrappings, or as Chaos Innoculation entirely, you are sacrificing the effectiveness of one of the build’s main strengths.

The guide states that If you use the Thunderfist gloves, you would need to swap added lighting from your kinetic link.
But the suggested kinetic link doesn’t use this support gem.
Barrage does use this gem, but seeing as that is a 6 link you wouldn’t be able to put it into your gloves?

Hmm, interesting — thanks for the catch, my brain must have been wandering when I wrote that. Obviously it’s the inverse, as the whole point of Thunderfist Thunderfist is the “5th link” due to the Added Lightning Damage Support Added Lightning Damage Support. I’ll get this updated right away, and you are correct that it is your Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast 4-Link that should be socketed in those gloves.

The only exception to this would be if it was extremely early in the League, or you were starting a character on SSF with Thunderfist Thunderfist already in your stash, when it would be more beneficial to get an early “5-Link” on your Barrage Barrage instead.

Great build & an excellent guide – THANKS. Couple of points – we’re using 3 gems that require mana reservation – HOI 25%, Wrath 50%, and Grace 50% – even with lvl 4 empower & enlighten supports (which i could never afford) for Wrath you still wind up with over 100% mana reserve – how have you been able to make it work? also, with QOTF’s -25% movement speed your “break even” requires 15k evasion – what sort of evasion total is the build capable of (including the evasion from Grace)?

Regarding the auras, you use HOI and Wrath as your auras, and you only use the active Vaal effect of Vaal Grace (active it like a cooldown).

Grace Grace is unnecessary; even with the basic affordable Uniques recommended in the guide you should end up around ~18k Evasion Rating. The active component for Vaal Grace Vaal Grace has a fairly high uptime in and of itself, so we rely on it as an extra layer of security when dealing with troublesome foes like the Syndicate. With Rare gloves, your Evasion will be even higher. Remember that you can easily maintain 100% uptime on your Flasks as well, and the Stibnite is a nice boost to that Evasion chance.

Here’s a fun tip as well, if you need extra defense: add a Jade Flask of Reflexes (as recommended in our Basic Flask Setup section!) and your Evasion is over 50,000 — over the movement speed cap of Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest (45,000 EVA) and leaving us at 87% Evade Chance, 74% Dodge Chance, and 75% Spell Dodge Chance (97% Melee/Projectile Avoidance, 75% Spell Avoidance). Grace Grace simply is not worth the Mana cost when you’re already this elusive!

    Thank you, Vlad!

Ahhhh………….that makes sense. Thank you Furty & Vlad ! I just reached lvl 70 and finally able to ramp up the build with proper endgame gear. a little problematic getting full elemental res with all the great offensive stats available but i’ll just have to sacrifice some offense to get high res on my 2 rings and belt. also planning on taking Survivalist (3 passives get me 14% all res, 1% to max cold res, and 48% evasion) instead of the 3 passives just above and to the right that give me 8% proj dmg and a jewel socket – perfect jewels are really expensive and i think it may be a good trade-off. what do you think?

That’s fine — try to get a nice Stygian Vise Stygian Vise with two Tier 2+ Resistance rolls to do a lot of the heavy lifting in the Resistances department. If you can enchant a third one on, all the better. Survivalist is a fine node and you can always respec out of it when Jewels are more available to you.

Hi, Im currently only level 69 but I was wondering about what you said about the evasion we should have which was around 18k. Im using all the recommended items except Atziri’s Step and I only land at 8047 evasion, but even if I would equip the boots I would land at less than 9k evasion (8990). What am I doing wrong? :D Character name is Kaz_Flashback.

How much increased Evasion do you currently have?

I’ve got 44% increased evasion on my tree currently, and I haven’t picked up the bravery node yet (24% evasion).

You’re still well and truly fine if you run Jade and Stibnite — should still push you above 50k without issues.

    Hey there,

I’ve been following your build, and I’ve come across a problem. The Vessel of Vinktar (Flat Lightning Damage to Attacks) is what I’m having an issue with. I can’t seem to find one anywhere on poetrade that “Adds lightning damage to attacks.” All I can find are ones that “Add lightning damage to spells.”

I know that on the gamepedia website, it does exist. https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Vessel_of_Vinktar_(Added_Lightning_Damage_to_Attacks)

I was wondering — how necessary is this flask in general? for tier 15 maps can I use a healing flask, with staunching, instead? Also, would “adds lightning damage to spells” be just as good, if not better?

    Thanks!

    Hey there,

I’m back, so there’s a few things I want to point out about this build. Now, I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong, but I’m pretty much out of mana constantly. Even if I turn off the lightning damage aura and only have the herald of ice aura on, I’m running out of mana basically every 5 seconds. Is the curse effect not working? I checked the sockets in my boots and they certainly are socketed together correctly. I’m using every single unique you’ve recommended in this guide, with rings that I farmed on my Gladiator, both of which (for now) are just supplying me with Life and the resistances I need.

I am level 70, and can’t even kill a t2 map boss in under 5 minutes. It took me literally 8 minutes to kill the boss cause I’m just simply out of mana the entire fight, using my 7k dmg barrage skill in my 5 linked Forest chest piece. I also don’t feel very fast, even with a 20% quality, level 20 Phase run being spammed with an Adrenaline flask. I even bought Dying Sun, and this build just feels very, very mediocre compared to my gladiator. I can’t move around the map as fast as I can with Leap slam, and can’t seem to faceroll through the maps like you said I’d be able to in the introduction.

I dunno man, I invested a lot of time and currency in this build and it doesn’t seem to be doing what you said it should. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but some help here would be greatly appreciated to relieve some of this frustration I’m going through. Feels SO fucking bad to have spend all the time leveling this, buying every single unique, gem, and flask, just to fail on tier 2 maps.

Did you put the point into the Mana leech node in the Essence Sap wheel?

There are four Vessel variants — this (Vessel of Vinktar (Adds Lightning Damage to Attacks) Vessel of Vinktar (Adds Lightning Damage to Attacks)) is the one you are looking for.

Link me your POB or character sheet and I can take a look. Something is definitely wrong — Kinetic Blast Kinetic Blast is one of the most prolific and revered builds for clear speed and Level 100 grinds and I’ve played several of them to 100 myself, so I should be able to discern what the error is and fix it for you.

Also, this Flask is not necessary at all for clearing. I personally prefer using a Jade Flask Jade Flask of Reflexes for the speed bonus.

So are you experiencing this Mana drain with the Mana Leech node? Your gear seems pretty solid, but your Gems aren’t helping. Your Barrage Barrage seems to be Level 11, which costs 2 less Mana but deals far less damage. The links you are using are also not the advised setup, which can hamper damage a bit. As is the case with virtually every build, Gems are among the most important, if not the most important, influences on damage.

Investing into 20/20 gems as early as possible would go a long way. The 6-Link is also fairly important for single target damage, since this is a clearing focused build. Altogether, the 6-Link + the enchantment + 20/20 gems would increase your damage by at least 750% (from about 40k DPS in POB to over 300k). Adding to this is the fact you are a very low level and there’s still quite a bit of damage for you on the tree. You also lack Merciless and Uber Lab, both of which are massive damage injections for any build.

If I complete Merc + Uber Lab, add a Labyrinth enchant, fill out the remaining damage and crit nodes on your tree (required Level 75 only), 6-Link your chest, and make your gems 20/20, your POB Barrage Barrage DPS goes from 40k DPS to 1,061,613 DPS. This is without optimizing your gear or changing it in any way (which could go a long way in and of itself). You can imagine that 10% of Attack Damage Leeched as Mana is a lot more even with only a small upgrade to gear.

Your priorities should be: Lab > Gems = 6-Link > Enchantment

I appreciate the effort and cost you might have expended to acquire the recommended Uniques, but you need to realize they are only the “skeleton” behind the build. If there aren’t any muscles holding it all together, it kind of just flops over. None of the Uniques are as important as your basic tree/ascendancy and gem levels.

Finally, I do recommend that Jade Flask Jade Flask for making your Queen of the Forest Queen of the Forest movement speed bonus really sing. Your Evasion will go through the roof, and as a Pathfinder with Alchemist we can keep our flasks active in perpetuity.

Gotta say, this build is a BLAST, pun intended. But i was wondering. I have a couple items that buff curses, and was thinking of a way to squeeze in “Cast on Crit Support” and the curse “Projectile Weakness” to the barrage setup, and if it would be of any benefit at all.

Thanks for sharing, your guides are by far the most in depth.
