Mirage Mechanic Guide Empowered Mechanics

Introduction

Mirages that copy Mechanics may have a an Empowered version of that Mechanic within the Mirage, instead of the normal one.

Each Mechanic is modified in a different, unique way. These Empowered Mechanics can have increased difficulty… but each offers a new reward that can be obtained exclusively through Mirages.

The Mirage Challenge League has recently launched. Information in this guide is actively being updated, but may not yet be fully complete, or slightly inaccurate as we continue to learn about the league!

Copiable Mechanic Restrictions

Not every Mechanic can be copied by Mirages. Since the Mirage is itself a Sub-zone, any mechanic that relies on or creates a sub-zone will not be copied.

Additionally, Master missions cannot be copied by Mirages.

• Incursions (Alva)

• Sulphite Deposists (Niko)

• Bestiary Beasts (Einhar)

• Betrayal Missions (Jun)

• Abyssal Depths from Abysses

• Trials of Ascension

• Vaal Side Areas

• The Viridian Wildwood

Blight

Empowered Mechanics

Blights have one of their Lanes populated by Afarud enemies. These enemies have a chance of dropping a new Belt Base type - Cord Belt - with the implicit “Can be Anointed”.

Breach

What Gets Copied

The Encounter Type (Hive/Unstable Breach/Fortress). If the entrance to a Fortress is copied, the entire Fortress is copied as well.

Empowered Mechanics

It’s currently unknown how Breaches can be empowered by Mirages.

Delirium

What Gets Copied

Delirium is a bit unusual - the Mirage doesn’t have to copy the Mirror or any Delirium monsters. Rather, if a Delirium Mirror spawned in that map, one will spawn inside the Mirage, as well.

If the Map has Delirium orbs applied, those will be applied to the Mirage as well.

Reward Types from Delirium Mirrors are not copied.

Empowered Mechanics

Monsters killed while under Delirium within Mirages grant significantly more progress towards Delirium rewards.

Delirium monsters have a chance to drop Refracting Fog - a new currency item that lets you reroll the enchantment on Cluster Jewels while keeping all of its existing modifiers.

This allows you to get combinations of enchantments and notables that would otherwise be impossible - even moreso if you fracture modifiers!

Essences

What Gets Copied

Just the Essence monster and it’s location - the exact Essences within it are not copied.

Empowered Mechanics

Essences within Mirages can have a a new Mirage-exclusive essence - Essence of Desolation.

Expeditions

What Gets Copied

The Expedition member type is copied - if it’s a Tujen Expedition, the Miraged Expedition will be as well.

Empowered Mechanics

There are additional Afarud Runic Monster markers that are glowing with an orange fire. In addition, Remnants can have additional modifiers.

Harvests

What Gets Copied

Harvest Portals within the Mirage area will be copied, leading to an additional Harvest.

Empowered Mechanics

Miraged Harvests can drop a new crafting material for Horticrafting - Crytallised Rancor.

Kalguuran Ore

What Gets Copied

The type of Ore gets copied by the Mirage, unless it gets replaced by an Hourglass.

Empowered Mechanics

Ore inside Mirages can be replaced by a Thaumaturgic Dust Hourglass, which grants a large quantity of Thaumaturgic Dust.

Legion

Empowered Mechanics

Armies can be replaced by an Afarud army. These monsters can drop Incubators that reward Djinn coins and Miraged Maps.

Ritual

What Gets Copied

Any Ritual Altars within the Miraged areas are copied. While special reward Ritual types aren’t copied exactly, the type of Ritual altar will be maintained, and will be one of its elgible reward types.

Empowered Mechanics

Rituals copied by a Mirage will have scaled-up monster spawns and Tribute gains, such that the single Ritual is closer to clearing your entire map of Rituals. This Ritual scaling takes into account whether 3 or 4 Rituals spawned in the original map.

Rituals within Mirages can have several new itemized corpses of Afarud monsters.

Shrines

What Gets Copied

Just the fact that there is a Shrine.

Empowered Mechanics

Shrines have a chance to be replaced with an Afarud Shrine, causing Debuffs to expire faster on you and increasing Gold drops from enemies.

Strongboxes

What Gets Copied

Just the fact that there is a Strongbox.

Empowered Mechanics

Strongboxes can be replaced with Opalescent Strongboxes (containing Jewels), or Operative’s Strongboxes (containing Scarabs).

Strongboxes may also have an additional implicit modifier, causing additional packs of Afarud to spawn.

Ultimatum

What Gets Copied

Just the fact that there is an Ultimatum.

Empowered Mechanics

Ultimatums within Mirages can have new modifiers, as well as offer two new Catalysts - Dextral and Sinnistral Catalysts. These catalysts improve the quality of all Prefix or Suffix Modifiers.
