Summary – TL;DR

Like expected, nothing matters more than capping your Elemental Resistance before anything else. This means modifiers on gear are subordinate to Resistances as long as we’re not capped.

We’re providing you with an extensive analysis further down the page, but chose to start off with an overview / recommendation. As you’ll notice, a lot of the emphasis is on Life & Resistances, as we’re looking to get as much of that as possible.

Our recommendation:

Item Slot Item Name
Head Obscurantis Obscurantis or a well-rolled rare lategame
Amulet Replica Dragonfang's Flight Replica Dragonfang's Flight
Chest Lioneye's Vision Lioneye's Vision
Gloves Rare Gloves with Resistances, Life, Accuracy
Boots Rare pair of boots with Life, movement speed and attributes
Belt Perseverance Perseverance
Rings Rare Rings with Life, Resistances, Attributes as needed & Crafted – Mana Cost
Weapon Paradoxica Paradoxica
Weapon 2 Beltimber Blade Beltimber Blade

For crafting Rare items, you can check out all the affixes that can roll on an item base, depending on its level, influence, and many other factors, using our affix tool.

Armour Pieces

Helmet

In almost every single use-case, until very late game, you will be running Obscurantis Obscurantis. This just gives you some damage, but more importantly, gives you two things you need to balance around. The build requires you to have more Accuracy than Life because of the Precise Technique Keystone and also needs as much Evasion help as possible because of Perseverance Perseverance. Since you have a lot of Armour per default, increasing your Evasion will make your lowest stat of those two higher, meaning Perseverance will be giving you more damage. Therefore, a super cheap unique which gives you a good amount of Evasion, really good Accuracy & a bit of Life & Damage is just nice to have.

At the very latest stages of the game, you can find more tankiness, free up a few points in the tree & win a Gem-Link because you can drop Lifetap. To do that, you’ll need to create a Helmet which has Chaos Resistance, Reservation Efficiency, Life, Ideally double conversion modifiers and lastly “A good suffix”. This good suffix could be any suffix which is otherwise on your Gloves or Rings because you could be finding Accuracy on them. You will need some Accuracy after losing Obscurantis Obscurantis to make sure your Accuracy numbers stays higher than your Life total. Now, because this helmet is a fairly specific craft, it is advised you keep an open mind about the last suffix it can hit. The process would probably be as follows. You start with a fractured Chaos Resistance roll, on a high Evasion base. This guarantees that Chaos Resistance can never change, even when altering the item. You’re going to be using Essences of Loathing, ideally Deafenings, which locks in your second suffix. If you’re going to only look for Accuracy as your third suffix, even if you’re aiming for a very low roll, it might be hard to obtain this. However, if you accept any good suffix (For Example A resistance) and replace one of your other items where you had that resistance for a piece with Accuracy, your success results are a lot higher. Anyhow, whilst looking for that third good suffix, you ideally want to hit it in combination with a nice Life Roll. You can then finish off the item by crafting Physical Damage taken as Fire Damage on the bench and your Eldritch implicit. This is a huge optimization but also by far the most expensive slot in the build. It is advised you obtain all your other items before attempting this. Obscurantis Obscurantis will do just fine before that point.

Body Armour

Because of the necessity of Pierce in the build, Lioneye's Vision Lioneye's Vision is just really nice. Life, Pierce, some leech and a ton of Armour value is just hard to beat.

Gloves

You’re looking for very high Evasion Gloves with Life & Resistance. Eventually, post-helmet here above, you can replace a Resistance you found on your helmet with Accuracy here. Finish off a nicely bought rare with Eldritch Implicits.

Boots

On your boots, again, you want a high amount of Evasion if possible. As per usual, Movement Speed is preferred as well as Life and Resistance. Don’t forget to top off your boots with Implicits.

Belt

Perseverance Perseverance is here to stay. As mentioned multiple times the belt just gives you so much and is generally super cheap so it’s just there to stay.

Accessories

Amulet

Early game, Fury Valve Fury Valve is super good. Lategame, Replica Dragonfang's Flight Replica Dragonfang's Flight with +3 to Steel Skill gems is solid but in combination with the other modifiers (Attributes, Reduced Mana Reservation, Resistances, …) it’s really hard to beat the neck.

Anoint

You’re anointing Charisma to fix your mana reservation.

Rings

Both of your rings should be Amethyst Ring Amethyst Rings if possible to push Chaos Resistance. You want Life, Resistance and necessary Attributes. Whenever you can get more modifiers, because you have enough Resists & Attributes, you can find Accuracy, Attack Speed etc to find extra damage. It is mandatory to have 2x Elreon Crafts on them that lower your Mana Cost before swapping to the late game setups.

Weapons

Weapon

Both of our weapons are set in stone. The first weapon has a Paradoxica Paradoxica with at least a Phys/Impale veiled roll and ideally an Attack Speed roll on top of it. The second item is a well-rolled Beltimber Blade Beltimber Blade.

Flasks

Our recommendation:

Slot Flask
1 Seething Divine Life Flask Divine Life Flask of Alleviation
2 Flagellant’s Granite Flask Granite Flask of the Pangolin
3 Flagellant’s Stibnite Flask Stibnite Flask / Basalt Flask Basalt Flask of the Eagle swap depending on what is lower armour or evasion
4 Flagellant’s Jade Flask Jade Flask of the Ibex
5 Flagellant’s Quicksilver Flask Quicksilver Flask of the Lynx

We recommend using an automated setup for your flasks by benchcrafting “Used when Full” onto them

Jewels

We chose to run two Large Cluster Jewel Large Cluster Jewel and either 3 or 4 Medium Cluster Jewel Medium Cluster Jewels depending on the state of your Helmet and whether or not you can “save” the skill points from Revelery.
If you are looking for the most optimal way to acquire your Cluster Jewels or have any other questions whatsoever about them, such as how to craft or price them, we refer you to our complete guide on Cluster Jewels.

Cluster Jewels

On your Large Cluster Jewel Large Cluster Jewel, you’re looking for 4 Specific notables. This means, you’ll need to make sure you buy Cluster Jewels with 3 Notables and the Notable you don’t want is pushed to the back. If you don’t know how to find out if this will work, refer to our guide on Cluster Jewels. The notables you want are:
  • 1x Feed the Fury
  • 1x Martial Prowess
  • 1x Battle-Hardened
  • 1x Master the Fundamentals

The Medium Cluster Jewel Medium Cluster Jewels are a bit more straightforward. You want 3 or 4 copies with the Eye for an Eye and Repeater notables.

Make sure to maximize cluster jewels when you can by finding ones that give additional effects from notables. A few %‘s of resistances or attributes can greatly affect the pressure that was put on your gear pieces otherwise.

Unique Jewels

The build runs Watcher's Eye Watcher's Eye. You want one that at least has “Impales last 2 additional Hits while using Pride” but you can find some other fancy things such as Precision, Grace, Determination or Pride modifiers.

We also run Lethal Pride Lethal Pride now the seed number is not important to begin with, just get one for the extra strength, later on you can look for one with combinations of % increased Armour, % chance to deal double damage and/or % increased physical damage

Rare Jewels

I value Life on Regular Jewels a lot. Therefore, I would recommend trying to buy copies with at least Life on them as well as 2 “Good-looking stats”. Generally, it’s fairly straightforward to figure out which modifiers are good for you but things like Physical Damage, Projectile Damage, Damage, Attack Speed, Attack Speed while Dual Wielding etc. are what you’re on the hunt for.
