The Broken Build - Blade Blast Chieftain Passive Skill Tree & Gem Links
Passive Skill Tree
You can find an optimized Path of Building here. Every build I release will use the community fork of Path of Building, which is maintained and updated in a much more regular fashion than the original one. You can find PoB’s Fork, by LocalIdentity, here.
If you are not comfortable with Path of Building, we also have a PoePlanner for you. Do note that PoE Planner does not support Cluster Jewels and some specific unique jewels and it is highly recommended you install Path of Building to follow builds most optimally.
Progression Advice
Since this build works as soon as you swap to it after the storyline, you’ll be completely fine regardless but I’ll leave you with this Path of Building to give you an idea as to what I would suggest your tree looks like at the beginning of maps.
If you’re not comfortable with Path of Building, here’s a PoePlanner to give you an idea of how your tree should look like whenever you’re at about that level.
Gem Links
Blade Blast – Main Link (6-Link)
Blade Blast scales exceptionally well with levels. Getting a 21/20 is a really big upgrade! Awakened Gems are very potent in this build as well, try to get them when / as you can afford them!
Blade Blast
Awakened Controlled Destruction Support
Awakened Elemental Focus Support
Awakened Fire Penetration Support
Inspiration Support
Awakened Increased Area of Effect Support
Spawning blades with
Bladefall
Because you want to create as many blades with a single cast to make mapping and bossing as smooth as possible, you’re using Unleash and Spell Cascade to get as many of them as you can! Additionally, by linking Combustion to it, monsters get a huge Fire Resistance reduction Blade Blast can then make use off.
Movement & Utility
Since this build is pretty socket starved, if you want to have max utility you will have to either manually cast your Immortal Call or drop your
Tempest Shield all together. This setup will not run Tempest Shield but if you’re okay manually casting Immortal Call, you’d run a
Tempest Shield gem in your weapon for automatic triggers.
Aura’s / Enduring Cry
Again, as I’m assuming you’re not using Tempest Shield in your Trigger Weapon, you’re going to put a Herald of Ash there (as that can’t be triggered). If you would run a Tempest Shield in your weapon, you can move your Herald of Ash here.
Trigger Wand Setup
As you want to get all of these buffs automatically cast, you need to socket them in your Trigger Wand. These effectively add a ton of Damage through lowering resistances and exposing enemies to Fire Damage (and potentially getting you block chance if you chose to go the Tempest Shield Route)
Fortify & Vaal Righteous Fire
Since everyone likes being tanky, this build runs a Shield Charge supported by Fortify to get you another layer of defenses. It’s not the biggest of deals if it drops of left and right but you should use it on bosses for sure! Additionally, this is where you put your Vaal Righteous Fire for the big damages!
hey man i’m a little confused about evasion base boots and gloves since the tree is armor nodes and not evasion, isn’t this choice going to make the character a little squishy?
