Lexyu's Cold Snap of Power Hierophant Build Guide (PoE Mirage 3.28)
Introduction
The Cold Snap of Power Hierophant (Templar) is a ranged spellcaster that excels at speed-farming maps with rapid mobility and massive screen-wide explosions. Damage and survivability is scaled by Mana (Archmage and Arcane Cloak), Power Charges, and Curse stacking. With a low-budget investment of 5-10 Divine Orbs, this build can reach up to 50M burst DPS when fully buffed.

Build Mechanics
Cold Snap of Power (CSoP) is an ideal skill for this build due to its exceptional base damage, effectiveness of added damage, and 10% base critical hit chance. The cooldown of CSoP is bypassed by the Wand affix, Gain a Power Charge after Spending a total of 200 Mana, which is activated on every cast for an infinite cycle.
Ensure that your CSoP skill costs at least 200 Mana when Fanaticism is active. You may need to remove 10% reduced Mana Cost of Skills mastery and nodes in the Passive Tree.
If you’re using Conviction of Power, your Maximum Power Charges must be at least 1 higher than your Minimum Power Charges, as Minimum Power Charges cannot be consumed by CSoP.
In addition to the Hierophant Ascendancy Passives, the Inquisitor’s Instruments of Zeal is obtained from
Forbidden Flesh and
Forbidden Flame. Instruments of Zeal is highly beneficial for this build due to the Fanaticism buff granting 75% More Cast Speed, 75% Reduced Cost, and 75% Increased Area of Effect.
Shield Charge is utilized to traverse and activate Fanaticism bonuses.
With Greater Spell Cascade support, CSoP’s radius needs to be at least 4.8m for all 5 explosions to overlap at your target. Obtaining a 4.8M radius breakpoint for CSoP to shotgun enemies greatly boosts single-target damage output. For the starter setup, ensure you have enough increased Area of Effect from
Carcass Jack,
Increased Area of Effect Support, and nodes in the Passive Tree. The Final Setup utilizes a Cluster Jewel setup to reach the radius breakpoint instead.
If you do not yet have required Rare Wand, Forbidden Jewels, and Greater Spell Cascade, the Shock Nova of Procession Hierophant Build is recommended to start.
Maximum Mana is stacked as a primary stat to scale damage from
Archmage Support and
Arcane Cloak. The Added Lighting Damage becomes the overwhelming majority of damage output compared to CSoP’s base Cold Damage.
Power Charges are utilized with
Anathema to apply 5 curses to enemies for increased damage and survivability. Curses are automatically applied with
Kitava's Thirst.
Due to the efficient damage scaling and shotgun mechanic, the Cold Snap of Power Hierophant is capable of reaching 200M DPS in a tanky shield setup.
Multiple layers of defense enhance survivability. Life, Energy Shield, and 50% of Damage taken from Mana before Life are combined for a high effective hit pool. Attack Block, Spell Block, and a bit of Evasion are utilized to avoid incoming hits. Life Leech and Energy Shield Leech are obtained, so scale damage and maintain Fanaticism while spamming CSoP to quickly recover any damage taken.
Playstyle
Cast
Shield Charge to traverse and activate Instruments of Zeal for the Fanaticism buff, which is important for the 75% Cost Reduction to spam
Cold Snap of Power. Continue to weave in Shield Charge about once every second while casting CSoP to maintain the buff while mapping.
Against bosses, a skill rotation can be executed to align all buffs in a 4-second window. Use the following Boss Skill Rotation to deal maximum burst damage and kill them quickly:
- To prepare maximum damage output against bosses, place a
Sigil of Power. - Cast
Shield Charge until you reach 4 Fanaticism stacks. Hit the boss with at least 1 Shield Charge to apply
Assassin's Mark. - Activate
Arcane Cloak and
Vaal Haste. - Spam
Cold Snap of Power while aiming directly on the boss to overlap 5 explosions. After Fanaticism expires in 4 seconds, repeat the Boss Skill Rotation.
Damage Scaling
- Maximum Mana with
Archmage Support and
Arcane Cloak - Area of Effect for Shotgun Explosions with Greater Spell Cascade
- Critical Hit Chance (easily capped at 100%) and Critical Strike Multiplier
- Cast Speed
- Increased Spell/Elemental/Lightning/Area Damage
Defensive Scaling
- Maximum Life and Energy Shield
- Maximum Mana with Mind Over Matter and
Arcane Cloak - Block and Spell Block
- Capped Resistances
Map Modifiers to Avoid
Certain combinations of modifiers on maps can increase difficulty, such as stacking multiple monster damage modifiers. You should figure out which modifiers your current build struggles with from experience. The following list of modifiers can cause issues and may need to be avoided entirely.
- ❗Players cannot Regenerate Life, Mana, or Energy Shield
- ❗Monsters Reflect Elemental Damage
- ❗Players have less Area of Effect (can prevent explosions from overlapping, reducing single-target damage)
- ❗Monsters Steal Power Charges on Hit
