Ring #2

Cerulean Ring Cerulean Ring (or any useful ring base) — Apply Fertile Catalyst to boost the Maximum Life and Maximum Mana modifiers by 20%.

  2. Increased Cast Speed or Increased Area of Effect (not required to reach 4.8m radius for Cold Snap of Power Cold Snap of Power)
  3. Resistances (up to cap)

Weapon

Profane Wand Profane Wand

Stat Priority:

  1. Gain a Power Charge after Spending a total of 200 Mana (required for infinite casts of Cold Snap of Power Cold Snap of Power)
  2. Increased Cast Speed and Increased Critical Strike Multiplier
  3. Maximum Mana
  4. Increased Spell Damage
  5. Damage Penetrates Elemental Resistances or Maximum Mana / Spell Damage hybrid affix
  6. Spell Critical Strike Chance (not needed to cap, but Passive Skill nodes can be reallocated)

Low-Budget Wand Crafting Steps

The most accessible method for crafting a starter Rare Wand is detailed below.

  1. Trade for a Profane Wand Profane Wand (Item Level 84+) with Shaper Influence.
  2. Spam Deafening Essence of Misery Deafening Essence of Misery until you obtain the affix, Gain a Power Charge after Spending a total of 200 Mana.
  3. If the Wand has a third suffix in addition to Cast Speed and Gain a Power Charge after Spending a total of 200 Mana, attempt to remove it with Orb of Annulment Orb of Annulment.
  4. Add the third suffix, Can have up to 3 Crafted Modifiers, at the Crafting Bench.
  5. If the Wand has more than 1 undesired prefix, craft Suffixes Cannot Be Changed, then use a Scouring Orb to only wipe prefixes. You do not need to do this step if the Wand already has 2 open prefixes.
  6. Craft the final 2 affixes, Spell Damage and Maximum Mana.

Alternatively, the Recombinator (unlocked in Westmarch) can produce a starter Rare Wand for less crafting currency, at the cost of Thaumaturgic Dust and Gold. For more details on the mechanics, read the Guide to Recombinators.

High-Budget Crafting Steps

  1. Trade for a Profane Wand Profane Wand (Item Level 84+) with Shaper Influence.
  2. Spam Deafening Essence of Misery Deafening Essence of Misery until you obtain the affix, Gain a Power Charge after Spending a total of 200 Mana.
  3. If the Wand has a third suffix in addition to Cast Speed and Gain a Power Charge after Spending a total of 200 Mana, attempt to remove it with an Orb of Annulment Orb of Annulment.
  4. Once you have 1 open suffix, craft Suffixes Cannot Be Changed at the Crafting Bench.
  5. At the Horticrafting Station, Reforge a Rare item with random modifiers, including a Critical modifier. A high-tier Global Critical Strike Multiplier affix is ideal. A Critical Strike Chance affix can be still usable. Depending on the outcome, you can go back to Step 3 or continue to Step 6.
  6. Once you have 3 suffixes, Craft Suffixes Cannot Be Changed at the Crafting Bench.
  7. At the Horticrafting Station, Reforge a Rare item with random modifiers, including a Mana modifier. Depending on the tier of the Mana modifier, you can go back to Step 6 or continue to Step 8.
  8. Craft Spell Damage at the Crafting Bench.

Shield

Titanium Spirit Shield Titanium Spirit Shield (or any Energy Shield base rare shield)

  1. Increased Chance to Block and Chance to Block Spell Damage
  2. Maximum Mana or Maximum Life

Jewels

Socket a Large Cluster Jewel Large Cluster Jewel (Increased Lightning Damage base with 8 Passive Skills) into the large jewel socket with all 3 Passive Skills.

  2. Scintillating Idea
  3. Widespread Destruction

Socket a Medium Cluster Jewel Medium Cluster Jewel (Increased Area Damage base with 4-5 Passive Skills) into both medium jewel sockets with 2 Passive Skills.

  1. Vast Power
  2. Assert Dominance

Socket a Hypnotic Eye Jewel Hypnotic Eye Jewel or Murderous Eye Jewel Murderous Eye Jewel into the remaining small jewel sockets with the following stat priority.

  1. Maximum Life and Maximum Mana
  2. Global Critical Strike Multiplier
  3. Increased Cast Speed if you’ve dealt a Critical Strike Recently
