This build guide is a collaboration with Path of Matth who is the original designer of the build. It is one of the craziest low budget league starter builds designed to drop down the hardest end-game bosses with little to no currency invested at all.
Below you can see the build in action from PoM’s YouTube Guide. Do note that the video might be outdated in terms of information, and you should always look at this guide to make sure you have the updated version.
In this section I will outline the pros, cons, & the general play-style. This will allow you to determine if the build is for you or not!
+ League Starter – The gearing process for this build is so simple & straight forward it works extremely well as a league starter.
+ Bosser – The damage output this build can achieve even in the lowest of low budget is completely absurd.
+ Miner Play Style – The play-style as shown in the video is extremely satisfying when you detonate the army of mines and watch a boss get instantly zerged down to 0 HP.
– Miner Play Style – Clearing with a miner build is not as satisfying as the bossing play-style, there’s a lot of throwing mines down and detonating them frequently.
– Cluster – For end-game it is important to pick up a cluster jewel or 2, these clusters can very easily be self-crafted which will be covered in this guide. Quick note here is that the crafting process only requires a handful of Orb of Alteration, Regal Orb & Orb of Scouring so it’s still very cheap!
The build clears maps by throwing mines on the ground and detonating them frequently which can get rather spammy, however, once you encounter a boss you pre-cast a set of different abilities then mass out 19 mines which you’ll detonate in a beautiful sequence which will ramp up in damage output thanks to High-Impact Mine support which significantly increases the damage done for each mine detonated that hits the enemy to ramp up an absurd amount of damage.
DAMAGE SCALING AND DEFENSIVE LAYERS
Damage scaling for this build is all about stacking mines & putting up debuffs on the boss to make it take a ton of extra damage. Hydrosphere is abused for the end-game content thanks to Snakepit to allow projectiles that misses the boss to chain from the Hydrosphere back to the boss significantly increasing damage output.
Defensive scaling is handled via stacking up the new Spell Suppression which we are later converting via Acrobatics keystone in to spell dodge reaching around 34% Spell Dodge without any investment towards scaling this further via gear. To deal with attacks hitting us we are using Evasion, and a lot of it. Grace aura is being used to further enhance this defensive layer and with the 3.16 patch evasion as well as armor will be significantly better allowing us to have similar defensive scaling as we used to have back in 3.15.
PoB AND PASSIVE SKILL TREE
The PoB community fork created by Localidentity is the only version being kept up to date, so make sure you have the correct version: PoB Community Fork.

ASCENDANCY, BANDIT & PANTHEON RECOMMENDATIONS
You can read about the recommended Ascendancy, Bandit choice, and Pantheon Power recommendations for this build on our dedicated page.
The leveling experience with this build is among the smoothest you can find as we are playing as a Shadow ascending to become a Saboteur we have easy access to nodes early on that will scale the damage output the build will do from start to finish. There are almost no nodes that we will respec out of during the leveling progression.
Act 1 – 3
A baseline effective way of leveling in the early acts is to utilize Freezing Pulse, Stormblast Mines, Frost Bomb, Frost Blink & Orb of Storms. A useful tool to help with tougher enemies including Brutus is to include a Holy Flame Totem which not only deals damage but also works as a decoy for the boss(es) to hit rather than yourself.
Level 1-8 will use the following gems:
- Stormblast Mine for single target
- Freezing Pulse for clearing
- Frost Bomb for clearing when you get it instead of the Freezing Pulse
- Holy Flame Totem
Once you reach level 8 you are able to get support gems in the form of Added Lightning & Added Cold, this is where Stormblast Mines starts to take over and become the main source of damage that you’ll deal in your progression through these acts:
- Added Lightning Damage Support
- Added Cold Damage Support
- Flame Dash (After Brutus we switch our Frostblink to this instead.
In Act 3 after killing General Gravicius we can purchase Eye of Winter from the gem vendor in town allowing us to start playing the build the way it was supposed to be played! The following set-up would be ideal during the progression before you get access to the higher level gems you’ll be using for the end-game set-up:
- Eye of Winter
- Blastchain Mine Support this is later replaced by High-Impact Mine Support for more damage
- Trap and Mine Damage Support
- Swift Assembly Support
The Aura changes will be to keep Herald of Ice but consider removing the other heralds to open up your mana pool depending on how high mana cost / reservation your mines take from you as you’re progressing through the campaign. In some cases you might want to consider still using 1 or 2 of the previous heralds if possible on your mana, opening up your mana pool helps a lot to sustain the mana problems which is normally solved with mana flask(s) or preferably an “Enduring” prefix rolled mana flask. So avoid reserving too much mana to keep being able to deploy your damage output.
At this point of your progression you simply just need to follow the end-game tree & gem-links to further enhance your character throughout the acts in to the hardest end-game content.

To guarantee that my guides are tools you can utilize to enhance your experience in Path of Exile, all you need to do is post your question in the comments and I will personally attend to them as soon as possible.
As much as I love making build guides, it is very crucial in a game like Path of Exile that you play the game the way you enjoy playing it. With that said, if you’ve made any tweaks to the build compared to what I’m showing in this guide I would love if you’d posted it in the comments! It’s an effective way to show other approaches and it helps me grow as a build guide creator!
I hope you found the build guide useful and I wish you all many Exalted Orb drops!
