Passive Skill Trees

The Eternity Shroud The Eternity Shroud

This is our recommended Level 100 Passive Skill Tree for players using The Eternity Shroud The Eternity Shroud. This variant provides far and away the best bossing capability and damage and is setup to best make use of that.

If you are using two Shaped Call of the Brotherhood Call of the Brotherhood rings we recommend using Explosives Expert, as shown in the example tree.

  • * If you are leveling up or are still a relatively low level in the end-game (less than level 90 or so), path through the Mine Damage nodes at Shadow wheel towards Trickery instead of taking the Intelligence points
  • Start by acquiring all the Mine related nodes such as Successive Detonations, Saboteur, Blast Cascade, Volatile Mines, and High Explosives.
  • Critical Strike can be picked up in spades very early on from notables such as Assassination, Doom Cast, and Annihilation.
  • Leave the Acrobatics portion of the tree for the latter part of the leveling experience; we recommend pathing down towards it once you have passed Level 60.
  • Mind over Matter should be saved for the end-game and not used before mapping.
  • Life is a contentious stat for Miners; acquire as much as you need to level safely. More Life can be acquired through notables such as Devotion for a small sacrifice in damage. This is a relatively personal balance for miners and different players have differing levels of comfort playing with low Life pools.
  • If you need extra points for utility, Life, or damage, do not path up towards Arcane Potency or the Jewel slot. This frees up 12 Skill Points to be put to use for fleshing out whatever you need to improve areas of the build you are struggling with.
  • Jewels should not be acquired until you have superlative options to socket them with. Save these for your last points.

Life-Based

Here is our recommended skill tree for a Life-based version of the build.

  • You can easily remove some Life from this tree if you feel you are safe enough, or add more for extra padding.
  • Jewels should not be acquired until you have superlative options to socket them with. Save these for your last points.

Low-Life Variant

Here is a recommended skill tree for a Low-Life version of the build.

Low-life typically provides higher damage and defenses over a standard Life based build (excluding Curtain Call Curtain Call and The Eternity Shroud The Eternity Shroud setups) though it is significantly more expensive to get up and running. If you do not plan on acquiring The Eternity Shroud The Eternity Shroud as your end point, we recommend looking towards the low life version for your true end game. The extra defenses possible, which can be as high as 10k Energy Shield, are usually well worth the cost.

  • If you are leveling up or are still a relatively low level in the end-game (less than level 90 or so), path through the Elemental Damage nodes at Shadow wheel towards Trickery instead of taking the Intelligence points
  • Pain Attunement and Arcane Vision are absolutely required for Low-Life builds so be sure to take them immediately after transitioning
  • Zealot’s Oath should be taken immediately to ensure you are getting full benefit from the exceptional Pyromaniac Ascendancy keystone
  • When transitioning to Low-Life be sure to be a high enough level that you can acquire all the Mine damage nodes while still grabbing all the major Energy Shield notables
  • Power Charges nodes are optional and you can opt to swap them out for more defense, or utility in other areas
  • Enigmatic Reach is a good clearing notable to pick up if you are using Tremor Rod Tremor Rod
  • Jewels should only be taken if you have strong candidates to fill them, and due to their expense will typically be some of your last passive investments

Low-Life is pretty flexible, as you can easily adjust the defenses to add significantly more Energy Shield for safer leveling to 100, or pile on even more damage. Our suggested setup is a very happy marriage of offense and defense which situates you nicely to explore all types of content, from Uber Awakener to Tier 16 mapping without issues.

Gems

In this build, Arc Arc is our main skill and only real source of both clear and boss damage. Wrath Wrath is our aura of choice, used to add a huge amount of Lightning damage to our kit, and Clarity Clarity can also be utilized to keep our Mana regeneration healthy. Phase Run Phase Run is also extremely important to the mobility and survivability of your build, allowing you to zip around maps safely like a race car. Aside from these core links, almost all additional gems are optional, or left to the player’s choice. We always recommend running a Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support + Immortal Call Immortal Call setup, to prevent any surprise Physical damage from eliminating you immediately. A Vaal skill should also be worked into a link; for Life based, we like to use Vaal Righteous Fire Vaal Righteous Fire for additional damage on long-lived bosses, such as Uber Elder. If you are playing the Low-Life variant, Vaal Discipline Vaal Discipline will be the go-to choice, instead.

For all the gem links we provide below, keep in mind that we list the gems in order of priority, meaning that if you lack the required number of sockets to fit all the gems, the first ones to drop are the ones at the bottom. Also note that in-game, as long as the sockets are linked, it makes no difference at all what order the gems are placed in.

Arc Arc 6-Link

There are two possible 6-links for Vaal Arc Vaal Arc, depending on whether you are using Tremor Rod Tremor Rod or a Rare wand. If you are upgrading to a Level 21 gem but cannot afford a Level 21/20 Vaal Arc Vaal Arc, it is better to use a Level 21/20 Arc Arc than a Level 20/20 Vaal Arc Vaal Arc.

Rare Wands

  1. Vaal Arc Vaal Arc
  2. Blastchain Mine Support Blastchain Mine Support
  3. Minefield Support Minefield Support
  4. Trap and Mine Damage Support Trap and Mine Damage Support
  5. Inspiration Support Inspiration Support
  6. Awakened Lightning Penetration Support Awakened Lightning Penetration Support

Tremor Rod Tremor Rod Link

The gems are listed in order of priority. Lightning Penetration Support Lightning Penetration Support is the icing on the cake for punching through bosses. Added Cold Damage Support Added Cold Damage Support or Ice Bite Support Ice Bite Support are defensive options that freeze and shatter enemies, which can be very helpful against certain enemies (such as porcupines) and against detonate dead. While not a default recommendation, it can be helpful for deep delving. Choose one and swap out Trap and Mine Damage Support Trap and Mine Damage Support. This is only recommended for clearing, however, and is not useful on bosses.

Please remember that Tremor Rod Tremor Rod supplies Blastchain Mine Support Blastchain Mine Support and therefore it is unnecessary in the link.

  1. Vaal Arc Vaal Arc
  2. Awakened Added Lightning Damage Support Awakened Added Lightning Damage Support
  3. Minefield Support Minefield Support
  4. Trap and Mine Damage Support Trap and Mine Damage Support
  5. Inspiration Support Inspiration Support
  6. Awakened Lightning Penetration Support Awakened Lightning Penetration Support

Swap in Item Rarity Support Item Rarity Support if you are using a Magic Find setup and want to up your Rarity bonus.

Vaal Skills (if using Tremor Rod Tremor Rod)

There is no need for a second six link in our build, however, we can use the space for leveling gems, running Auras, and using Vaal skills.

These gems do not need to be linked. Use the remaining two slots to level gems such as Empower Support Empower Support or Enlighten Support Enlighten Support. You can also slot in a Portal Portal gem supported by Enhance Support Enhance Support.

  1. Vaal Righteous Fire Vaal Righteous Fire
  2. Vaal Grace Vaal Grace
  3. Precision Precision (Level 1)

A Level 1 Clarity Clarity can also be used here for a small amount of additional Mana regeneration.

Flame Dash Flame Dash Mobility 4-Link

Summon Ice Golem Summon Ice Golem can also be swapped out for Increased Duration Support Increased Duration Support, or you could opt to use that slot for any gem of your preference, such as Portal Portal.

  1. Flame Dash Flame Dash
  2. Summon Ice Golem Summon Ice Golem
  3. Arcane Surge Support Arcane Surge Support (Level 2)
  4. Faster Casting Support Faster Casting Support

Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support 4-Link

You can adjust the levels of Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support to match your preference or current Effective Life values.

  1. Phase Run Phase Run (Level 4)
  2. Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support (Level 1)
  3. Increased Duration Support Increased Duration Support
  4. Immortal Call Immortal Call (Level 2)

Wrath Wrath 4-Link

Make use of the other socket however you prefer.

  1. Wrath Wrath
  2. Enlighten Support Enlighten Support (Level 4)
  3. Summon Skitterbots Summon Skitterbots

Low-Life Wrath Wrath 4-Link

  1. Wrath Wrath
  2. Clarity Clarity — Level is flexible, adjust to your needs
  3. Zealotry Zealotry
  4. Enlighten Support Enlighten Support (Level 4)

Detonate Mines Detonate Mines 3-Link

This totem link allows you to simply toss mines non-stop, which can be very valuable on boss encounters, while it does all the detonation for you.

  1. Detonate Mines Detonate Mines
  2. Spell Totem Support Spell Totem Support
  3. Player’s Preference

Blood Magic Support Blood Magic Support Auras for Low-Life

  1. Enlighten Support Enlighten Support (Level 4)
  2. Vaal Discipline Vaal Discipline
  3. Blood Magic Support Blood Magic Support
  4. Summon Skitterbots Summon Skitterbots

Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support 4-Link (Optional)

If you opt for a Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support link you will have to combine links elsewhere, or sacrifice one of the other links. There is not really a correct answer for what links are best, as they all grant utility that depends highly on the player’s playstyle and what content they prefer to run the most often.

  1. Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support (Level 1)
  2. Immortal Call Immortal Call (Level 3)
  3. Increased Duration Support Increased Duration Support
  4. Curse of Choice

We like to run Temporal Chains Temporal Chains (Level 5), however, there are other great options such as Enfeeble Enfeeble.

  1. Cast when Damage Taken Support Cast when Damage Taken Support (Level 1)
  2. Immortal Call Immortal Call (Level 2)
  3. Phase Run Phase Run (Level 4)

Call me crazy, or stupid, could be either. But this guide appears to be missing the “mines” part, of the arc mine guide.

Am i just not seeing it? It seems to be telling me to use arc for everything. Did you accidentally delete a segment when updating to 3.7? Or is some combination of gems generating mines out of thin air? I have no idea.

I’d appreciate any clarification, I just reached level 10 with a saboteur before i realized the guide was missing chunks, am i supposed to be using lightning spire traps? are those supposed to be in the 6 link instead of arc? I’ve never played a miner so i have literally no clue as to the gaps i need to fill in here. So now i’m going to go level up something else and hope for a reply.

Edit: Nevermind, turns out i was an idiot the whole time.

Furty, why u didn`t use PoB? It is very uncomfortable to use PoE Planner. It would be great if you would use step-by-step lvling with PoB. For beginners like me, this is very relevant and useful.

And yes, thank you vm for guide.

Mainly because of the effort required to keep all the POBs updated across all of our guides. It’s definitely a superior tool by a wide margin, but filling out a complete POB and keeping it updated is almost as much effort as writing an entire other guide. In the future we might start adding them if we have some more manpower to work with, so I wouldn’t write it off entirely either!

Thanks for the answer! In this case, I have a suggestion: is it possible to make screenshots with a step-by-step leveling tree and insert them into the guide?
It is very difficult for a novice player to decide which nodes need to be taken first and which ones can be taken for short-term gain, but then they can be reset.

    Thanks for attention.

Hi do u think this build will be good with the mine changes in 3.8 or will the other mine spells be better in your opinion? Want to do a mine build that can do the blight content + delve 500-600 depth. Or should I wait for the updates/new builds. Ty for the answer :)

It’s difficult to keep this sort of thing updated with so many guides to maintain but I can try and provide some general advice within them in the future. One of the main issues is that the advice is very contextual based on gear and choice of league and it pains me to provide information which can be erroneous depending on the player’s experience with the game or current gear. That said, I’ll see what I can do!

As it says in the gems section, Tremor Rod Tremor Rod is used in most cases which supplies the mine gem. If you are not using Tremor Rod Tremor Rod, there is a recommended link in the Rare Wand section.

It’s difficult to say this early without full information. I’d guess that it would stay very powerful but require a few alterations.

I’m working on it over the night. It should be updated in part for 3.8 — not sure if I will get to the Low Life part immediately, but the Life-based version will definitely be ready to go.

Hi, I know that u have a lot of work with the updates but what’s better in your opinion, can’t decide between arc mines saboteur or pathfinder toxic rain + HoA. Which is better for delving and doing bosses (Aul etc.) and has okay clearspeed/movement speed as a league starter.

Without testing the mines changes in-game yet, I would lean towards mines for bosses. Historically these types have builds have always been dominant and cheap for those types of activities, and just unpopular due to their playstyle and archetype. Personally I’d probably lean towards toxic rain and herald of agony for overall fun factor, but that might just be my personal preference.

    Hey man!

I played only 1 season (Betrayal) before Blight.

I saw your build topic, wanted to try out ; so first of all thank you I enjoyed going through the 10 acts really smoothly!

    ——————————————————————————————————————————————

    Curtain call HUGE change

In Blight Curtain calls requiries 800 dex &/or int. So I’m trying to theory craft right now to figure out if I should get 800 dex OR 800 int ; as well as going for 2nd curse, or huge lightning dmg boost, or huge shock boost (any of those requires 7 points, pbbly affordable)
Cause 800/800 is most probably impossible, maybe doable in very end-game if you sacrifice a lot elsewhere.
I’d say 800 int is cool for mana pool & MOM
But 800 dex is awesome for evasion & the belt (immune to freeze)

And uh.. no Aul’s uprinsing amulets on poe.trade right now in blight.. because people didnt delve enough yet ?

    ——————————————————————————————————————————————

    Spell totem support
In my Personal opinion after 15 hours : totem for detonate isn’t really worth the 3 slots=> you have so many mines exploding you don’t have to press that much the detonate key once you have a very cheap 4L tremor ; plus the totem HP pool & range are bad so it’s only useful in rare cases like boss.
I replaced it with the CWDT / immortal call / increased duration

    Ice Golem
I use CWDT with the ice golem (2L) cause : summoning every other 20s is like crazy annoying plus the cast animation makes you “take a break” while running through the maps. (CWDT = no cast time, we’re speed runners YAY)

    Elemental focus
If I understand well, with that gem I can’t ever inflict shock with Arc mine ? Isn’t that.. “bad” ? Cause if we go for only 800 dext or int we could also use 7 points to get a lot of nodes to increase like hell the effects of shock..

    Phase run
Added an efficacy gem for some juicy fractions seconds ; not much better gem choices anyway

    ——————————————————————————————————————————————

Hope you’ll answer all those questions & help me optimize my cheap gear for early mapping (currently T2-T4)
And maybe my feed backs can help you improve the guide for others.

    Thank you!
