Masteries

A lot of the masteries available come down to a matter of personal preference, but some are more or less mandatory.

Life Mastery We take all of the life masteries to enable the life mastery that gives 10% more maximum life if you have all 6 taken.
Caster Mastery “Spells which can gain intensity have +1 to maximum intensity” – This allows us to have an extra stack of intensity for more damage.
Critical Mastery “+25% to critical strike multiplier against unique enemies” – Some extra damage against unique mobs such as bosses.
Reservation Mastery “20% increased Life Reservation efficiency of skills” – This helps us become able to run all our auras.

Keystones

This build uses a few keystones to either increase our damage or tankiness.

Blood Magic Gives us 10% more life and makes skills cost life instead of mana.
Corrupted Soul Causes 50% of non-chaos damage we take to bypass energy shield. With this node, our health and energy shield regen really shine. (comes from the Timeless Jewel)
Pain Attunement We are always on low life, so pain attunement is 30% more spell damage at all times.
Iron Will This makes the damage bonus from strength also apply to spell damage. We have a decent amount of strength, so we take this for 1 point.

Leveling Gems & Links

For our leveling links, we will be leveling as Absolution until we meet the minimum requirements to change.
For the gem setups to level until then, please check the PoB.

This build uses a few different items to scale its primary damage instead of the normal 6-link

Early

You will want to buy a Replica Bitterdream, which has quite a few links built into it. In the 3 available sockets, you will want

Mid

Once you are able to get a Crest of Desire, you will put Tornado of Elemental Turbulence into it, this allows you to pick up a weapon with more damage.

Late

Main 4-link for when you craft your first helm (please refer to the notes in the PoB for how to craft this item)

4-link Reservation

Tempest Shield
Petrified Blood
Vitality
Enlighten Support
You will need a level 2 or higher enlighten to be able to fit all of your auras and stay above 55% life. Before you can afford to get one, you can run without tempest shield.
