Gear

Capping your elemental resistances is essential and it should always be your top priority in any build; it should be the first thing you do when gearing up a character. Obtaining a 6-link, while very powerful and certainly recommended, can potentially be very expensive (requiring an average of 1500 Orbs of Fusing, obviously depending on your luck); as such, this should not really be a goal for you while gearing up, and you should instead settle for a 5-link until you have enough resources. There are no specific items that are required in order to play the build, some uniques are recommended and not mandatory. We mainly focus on high armour based pieces. For better damage output, as in every other attack-based build simply improve the weapon.

Helmet

A rare Helmet with Life, Armour and resist is best in slot for the build. Helmet enchant with less Earthquake Earthquake duration is ideal. The Rare Affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (at least 90)
  3. # to Armour
  4. # to Strength
  5. # to Intelligence (if needed)

Body Armour

Considering the Armour received from our body piece is doubled we want a high Armour chest. Preferably 1500+ with some Life and resists. For the beginning this will not be possible. Belly of the Beast Belly of the Beast and Wall of Brambles Wall of Brambles are a solid starter choice. The Brass Dome The Brass Dome is the chest piece with most armour in the game, which just on its own can give you more than 15k Armour, after all the multipliers. Well rolled rare Glorious Plate Glorious Plate or Astral Plate Astral Plate is always a good choice. The Rare Affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (at least 90)
  3. # to Armour
  4. # to Strength

Gloves

Same as other pieces we are looking for rare Armour-based Gloves, look for Spiked Gloves Spiked Gloves if possible. The Rare Affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (at least 60)
  3. % increased Attack Speed
  4. Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks
  5. # to Armour
  6. # to Strength

Boots

Considering we mainly move around with Leap Slam Leap Slam, which is not affected by Movement Speed, high roll of it on boots is not required, but is nice to have. We are looking for a rare pair of Armour-based Boots. The Rare Affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (at least 70)
  3. % increased movement speed (not mandatory)
  4. # to Armour
  5. # to Strength

Belt

Stygian Vise Stygian Vise base provides additional utility via the abyssal socket. Any well rolled Heavy Belt Heavy Belt, Leather Belt Leather Belt and Rustic Sash Rustic Sash also works well. Belt of the Deceiver Belt of the Deceiver can also be considered. The Rare Affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (at least 80)
  3. % increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills (at least 25%)
  4. # to Armour
  5. # to Strength

Amulet

Look for a rare Amulet with desired attributes and the following affixes. The Rare Affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (at least 60)
  3. Gain % of Non-Chaos damage as Extra Chaos Damage (Elder mod)
  4. % increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills (at least 25%)
  5. Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks
  6. # to Strength

Rings

Considering we are using rare pieces in most item slots you are most likely to be over capped on resists anyway. This is why you can run Steel Ring Steel Ring instead of Two-Stone Ring Two-Stone Ring for the additional damage. The Rare Affix priority is:

  1. +#% total Elemental Resistances (until capped)
  2. +# to maximum life (at least 50)
  3. Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks
  4. % increased Elemental Damage with Attack Skills (at least 25%)
  5. # to Dexterity / Intelligence (if needed)

Weapon

The end game goal for the build is Atziri's Disfavour Atziri's Disfavour; simply the best unique axe in the game at the moment. It can be expensive, especially in the start of a new league, to farm your way up you can simply use one of the unique weapons mentioned in the Build Summary. Most of the time building an item via Divination cards saves up currency, this is where The Last One Standing comes in handy. Any rare Mace / Axe with at least 400pDPS can also be used.

Note: For the weapon slap and faster Leap Slam Leap Slam you should be using Brightbeak Brightbeak and Prismatic Eclipse Prismatic Eclipse with 3 green sockets for the additional Attack Speed. Due to recent changes to Movement skills this does not make as big of a difference as before.

Flasks

For flasks we use a mixture of offence and defence. Atziri's Promise Atziri's Promise is a good source of additional damage and life leech. Lion's Roar Lion's Roar provides additional Armour from the flask base and more damage via the unique mods. Basalt Flask Basalt Flask has a great amount of additional physical damage reduction on top of all the damage reduction you already have. Divine Life Flask Divine Life Flask – Instant life flask is always good to have when playing Life-based characters. Silver Flask Silver Flask adds additional Movement, Attack and Cast speed is always nice to have for boss fights, since it is hard to keep up Onslaught otherwise.

Note: Based on personal preference you can use Quicksilver Flask Quicksilver Flask or any other utility flask.

Be sure to check out our Flask Crafting Guide to learn everything you need to know about how to set up your non-Unique flasks.

Jewels

There are no unique jewels required for the build. We are looking for rare jewels with Life and Damage.

Regular Jewel Affix Priority

  1. % Increased Maximum life
  2. % Increase physical damage with Axes / Maces
  3. % Increased attack with Axes / Maces
  4. % Increased melee damage
  5. % Increased damage
  6. % Increased area damage
  7. % Increased attacks speed
  8. % Increased physical damage with two handed weapons

Abyssal Jewel Affix Priority

  1. # to Maximum life (at least 35)
  2. % Increased armour if you haven’t killed recently
  3. % Increased attack speed
  4. % Chance to blind enemies on hit with attacks

Nice guide! Gonna give this one a try in the future for sure.
Only the links to the passive skill trees don’t seem to work, getting a 404 error when clicking them.

Hopefully you still check this. Do I want to have a 6 link atziris Disfavor and a 6 link the brass dome? Or do I just want to 6 link one and which one is more important. And if I have both 6 linked what other skill would you use, maybe to get some more damage.

Hey Shopaz, 6-Linking your weapon should be a priority. Once you’ve done that you have the freedom to wear any Body Armour you want. If you have a 2nd 6-Link, I’d recommend 6-Linking your totem for extra damage output.

Thank you for taking the time to write this guide. Went through lab with a 30 chaos orb budget and some self found items with no problem what so ever.

Hi so this build looks good, im currently lvling a guy to test it, but i was curious why you have blood magic support on leap slam if you already take blood magic in the passive tree? seems redundant

I found a kitava’s feast today and was wondering if it would be a viable option until azirti’s axe the damage is good it’s the level 25 melee splash support i’m curious about, will it hurt or help earthquake?

Thanks for the guide, seems like this is my Legion starter. My question is whether I could put Leap Slam somewhere else instead of the alternate weapon set to avoid having to switch?

Kitava's Feast Kitava's Feast is a great Axe and it will do the work for sure, Melee Splash Support Melee Splash Support will not affect Earthquake Earthquake though.

Sure, simply put it in one of your other gear pieces and link it with stuff like Faster Attacks Support Faster Attacks Support, Endurance Charge on Melee Stun Support Endurance Charge on Melee Stun Support and Fortify Support Fortify Support.

Another question I have is that through my observation of my stat screen, the phys reduction is capped at 90%, which is easily reached with endurance charges. So what is the point of having like 15k armor with the Brass Dome, does it do anything or is it more trouble than it’s worth and I’m just better off going for more life? Also this build has been great, facetanking bosses easy.

Glad to hear you like the build, if you’ve already reached 90% phys reduction you can drop some Armour for other stats.

Ok thanks for the tip. Turns out having loads of armor isn’t that practical.

I also want to ask whether there are any recommended level caps for gems in the Immortal Call setup, as with other builds?

Not in this one since you can reliably cast it with 5 Endurance charges for maximum damage mitigation.
