Patch 0.4.0 teaser season is finally underway! GGG is giving players a first glimpse of the new league content in the trailer for the upcoming Fate of the Vaal League.

A First Look at Human Atziri

Some players know Atziri, Queen of the Vaal, as a major antagonist from earlier versions of PoE 1’s endgame. She appears as a gigantic, red-skinned demon with four arms and four horns.

Queen Atziri is hinted at throughout Act 3 of PoE 2, with players traveling back in time to the peak of Vaal civilization and inadvertently ushering forth the cataclysm that destroyed it. Despite this, she is never seen directly.

This teaser is the first look at a fully human Queen Atziri in PoE 2, and she will likely appear as a major boss in the coming league. We may even see her transformation from the human form featured in this trailer to the monstrosity players have fought in PoE 1!

Is Act 5 Coming in Patch 0.4.0?

As we previously covered, the official name for Patch 0.4 is The Last of the Druids. This name follows GGG’s trend of giving each patch a name that corresponds to permanent content added to the base game. The league name corresponds to temporary content in the campaign and endgame maps.

The first four acts of PoE 2’s campaign are focused on hunting down The Beast, a red, tentacled monster. This trailer shows red tentacles slithering out of a Vaal portal while Atziri says, “I am yours.” Coincidence? Possibly!

GGG needs to add Acts 5 and 6 to PoE 2 eventually, but the development cycle for this league was ahead of schedule. The new acts would likely include enough game content to justify showing them off in the main patch-level teaser trailer GGG shared earlier this month.

This trailer implies that players will get more information about what happens with The Beast in the endgame, and that the endgame will get some much-needed attention in the coming league!

When Does Fate of the Vaal League Launch?

Patch 0.4.0 will release on December 12 at 11 AM PST.

The GGG Live event to unveil all of the content in the new patch will be on December 4 at 11 AM PST.
