For crafting Rare items, you can check out all the affixes that can roll on an item base, depending on its level, influence, and many other factors, using our affix tool.

Armour

Chest

Rare chests are fairly attainable on any league as well as SSF. We recommend any high Armour/Evasion base. There are some really good influenced mods in addition to the ones we’ve included below so be sure to check out an affix tool to help round out your build for what you need.

  1. [Uncapped] Elemental Resistances
  2. +# to Maximum Life
  3. % Increased Evasion
  4. % Increased Maximum Life and Mana (Elder)

Assailum Assailum

Assailum Assailum is a damage increase for your Puncture Puncture, however, it can be very expensive and has unique playstyle challenges and benefits. Essentially, you are granted a Level 20 Snipe skill which will trigger the gem inside the helmet, which in our case will be Puncture Puncture. Channeling Snipe for longer periods results in powerful multipliers being applied to your Puncture Puncture, however, this greatly reduces your attack speed and mobility while you are channeling your Snipe. Due to the lowered attack speed Snipe can also be interrupted more easily by events that happen during a boss.

The upside, however, is pretty significant. The damage applied by a fully channeled Snipe can be at least double that of a regular Puncture Puncture. Assailum Assailum is definitely a damage increase over a 6-Link in a vacuum, and there are quite a few players who prefer it to the Non Assailum playstyle. It shifts the playstyle to a brand new one, and comes with its own downsides, so the only way to know if its for you is to test it for yourself.

Helmet

A Rare evasion helmet will take you all the way to the end of the league. Going heavy on defense and utility on the helmet lets you itemize heavy damage on slots that have better affixes available.

  1. [Uncapped] Elemental Resistances
  2. +# to Maximum Life
  3. +# to Intelligence (as needed)
  4. % Increased Evasion

Gloves

Rare gloves are suitable throughout the end game. Focus on defense first early on, and once your other upgrades are sorted you can splash out a bit for some extra damage.

  1. [Uncapped] Elemental Resistances
  2. +# to Maximum Life
  3. +% Spell Suppression
  4. % Increased Attack Speed
  5. % Increased Evasion
  6. Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks

Boots

As with virtually all builds, movement speed is paramount. We recommend filling as many Resistances as possible on this slot to make space for more damage elsewhere.

  1. [Uncapped] Elemental Resistances
  2. % Increased Movement Speed (25%+)
  3. +# to Maximum Life

Weapon (Core Item)

This is the most important part of this entire build. The core stats to an end-game bow for Puncture Puncture are:

  • % Increased Physical Damage
  • Adds # to # Physical Damage
  • % more Bleeding Damage over Time (replaced the previous Elder mod)
  • % Increased Attack Speed

There are many other good stats, but these are by far the most important to get immediately. If you are league starting and can’t find an Elder bow yet, a normal one with high Physical damage is the best alternative available to you.

Quiver

The quiver can fill a lot of utility with Life and Resistances, but can also provide additional damage in the late game when the items and currency are available.

  1. [Uncapped] Elemental Resistances
  2. +# to Maximum Life
  3. % to Physical Damage over Time Multiplier
  4. % to Damage over Time Multiplier
  5. % Increased Attack Speed
  6. Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks

Heavy Arrow Quiver Heavy Arrow Quiver is the ideal base. Do not use a Penetrating Arrow Quiver Penetrating Arrow Quiver under any circumstances as we do not want Ensnaring Arrow Ensnaring Arrow to pierce its targets.

Accessories

Belt (Core Item)

Ryslatha's Coil Ryslatha's Coil is a huge item for this build and should be one of your early big acquisitions after a strong bow. The more multiplier is enormous for our bleeds and the life gain on stun is not insignificant when clearing juiced maps.

Until you can obtain Ryslatha's Coil Ryslatha's Coil you should use a Stygian Vise Stygian Vise or a Leather Belt Leather Belt.

  1. [Uncapped] Elemental Resistances
  2. +# to Maximum Life
  3. % Increased Global Physical Damage # +# to Strength
  4. +# to Armour

Amulet

We recommend the Turquoise Amulet Turquoise Amulet to help you hit attribute requirements. Hunter affixes are optional late game upgrades to monster power your build.

  1. [Uncapped] Elemental Resistances
  2. +# to Maximum Life
  3. % to Physical Damage over Time Multiplier (Hunter)
  4. +1 to Level of all Physical Skill Gems
  5. Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks
  6. % Increased Global Physical Damage
  7. % Increased Attack Speed

Rings

Steel Ring Steel Rings are the obvious late-game choice for any Physical damage based build, however, they are more of a luxury than a necessity.

  1. [Uncapped] Elemental Resistances
  2. +# to Maximum Life
  3. Curse Enemies with Level # Vulnerability on Hit (one one ring only)
  4. Adds # to # Physical Damage to Attacks
  5. +# to Intelligence (as needed)

There are other damage and utility stats you can fill in on your rings as you find them or need them, particularly some of the influenced options.

Jewels

Standard Jewels

Every jewel should have % Increased Maximum Life. After that, fill in with:

  • % Increased Damage with Bleeding
  • +% to Physical Damage over Time Multiplier
  • % Increased Global Physical Damage
  • Attacks have a % chance to cause Bleeding/% Increased Bleeding Duration

Any affix that increased Physical, Bleed, or Bow damage will do nicely here. We recommend checking in POB before making any significant purchases.

Cluster Jewels

Our default recommendation is to use 2 Large Cluster Jewels with Four Medium Cluster Jewels and two Small Cluster Jewels. See the provided Path of Building for examples. As with most builds, you want as few small passive nodes as possible on each.

Large

See the “passive tree” section for spesifics on cluster jewels.

Flasks

Our reccomendation for flasks are as follows:
Basalt Flask Basalt Flask/Jade Flask Jade Flask
Granite Flask Granite Flask
Quicksilver Flask Quicksilver Flask
Divine Life Flask Divine Life Flask – this needs to be instant and this is very important
Your final flask is entirely up to you, mentionable suggestion are:
Amethyst Flask Amethyst Flask
whichever of Basalt Flask Basalt Flask/Jade Flask Jade Flask you did not already go for.
Alternatively you could run a Divine Mana Flask Divine Mana Flask with the Enduring affix if mana leech is not covering you entirely.

Spread out amonh these flasks, you should have the following problems solved:
Immunity to corrupted blood/bleeding
Freeze/chill Immunity
#% increased Armour
#% increased movement speed

Honorable mentions go to:
Ignite Immunity
Shock Immunity
Poison Immunity
