PoE 2 Patch 0.4.0 Is Launching in Early December!

GGG announced that Patch 0.4.0 is going to release in early December, and plan to provide more details in the coming weeks.

The Patch 0.4.0 content update timeline was unveiled earlier today, confirming that it is on schedule for a December release. GGG has been steadily releasing new patches for both Path of Exile 1 and 2 every four months. After some initial growing pains, the team committed to a release cadence that gives players new content every two months.

Because Patch 0.3.0 released on August 29th, many players voiced concerns that the next PoE 2 update might be delayed until January 2026. Fortunately, the update is coming out a few weeks ahead of schedule!

When is Patch 0.4.0 Releasing?

Although we don’t know the exact date of the next PoE 2 release, GGG only releases new content patches on Fridays. Because of this, we can narrow an “early December” release date down to two possible options: December 5 or December 12.

New patch content reveals typically occur on the Thursday of the week before release, so eight days earlier.

If Patch 0.4.0 releases on December 5, that reveal date would overlap with the American Thanksgiving holiday on November 27. There is the possibility that Patch 0.4.0 is considerably ahead of schedule and GGG could be ready for a reveal on Turkey Day in the U.S., but the more conservative argument is that Patch 0.4 will release on Friday, December 12.

What Content Will Be in Patch 0.4.0?

Players heavily speculated that the Druid class would be in Patch 0.3. Unfortunately, it was not.

After releasing the 0.3 patch, GGG confirmed that putting Druid into the game with Abyssal League was the original plan. The class was not ready in time and had to be put on hold for a future league.

This makes the possibility of Druid being released in Patch 0.4.0 very likely!

Acts 5 and 6 may also be on the horizon! The post-Act 4 interludes have served as stopgaps to help GGG remove Cruel Difficulty (no longer requiring players to complete the campaign twice on every character), but mostly consist of reused areas from the first three acts. GGG indicated that the interludes are intended to be very short-lived, so the new acts could be coming in Patch 0.4.0 as well.

What Happens to Abyssal League Characters?

Rise of the Abyssal League will end a few days before Patch 0.4.0 goes live. Once it does, the characters in that league will be migrated over to Standard Early Access Leagues, along with all of the items and currency in your Abyssal League stash tabs.

As for PoE 1, Keepers League will remain playable until the next major content release, which should occur some time in February 2026.
