Once the skill-tree is finished, just focus entirely on more jewel sockets or cluster jewels, if you can afford it.

LEVELING PROGRESSION

Depending on if you’re playing Hardcore or Softcore, you will have to adjust your routine based on the quality of the gear you find. For example, if you have lots of Life and Resistance from drops you get during the Acts, you can focus on taking damage-increasing nodes over defensive ones and vice versa. The links below are to trees that should fit in almost any situation regardless of the drop RNG.

MASTERIES

A lot of the masteries available come down to a matter of personal preference but some are more or less mandatory.

Life Mastery: “+50 to maximum life” strongest life mastery node available, pick it up
Life Mastery: “10% increased maximum life & 10% reduced life recovery rate.” This is a simple node to take for increasing Life.
Mana Mastery: “Regenerate 5 mana per second while you have Arcane Surge.” Since we scale a lot of our defense via mana, this node helps us sustain the heavy mana cost of summoning our totems.
Critical Mastery: “+25% to critical strike multiplier against unique enemies.” A simple, straightforward boss damage modifier.
Elemental Mastery: “40% increased effect of non-damaging ailments.” It doesn’t sound overpowered, but this will scale the chill and, most importantly, the shock effect we get from our Skitterbots, substantially increasing our damage output.

AMULET ANOINTMENT

There are a few great options here. The best ,and most expensive, is Heart of Ice, which requires 1x Crimson Oil, 1x Opalescent Oil & 1x Golden Oil. The second best option, Mark the Prey, is still quite comparable and requires only 1x Sepia Oil, 1x Indigo Oil & 1x Crimson Oil.
