Lifestacker Ball Lightning Ignite Acolyte of Chayula Endgame Build

One Ignite build to rule them all!

Introduction

Welcome to the lifestacking life! This build uses a unique interaction with Rathpith Globe that has the following modifiers:

  • Non-Channeling Spells have 3% increased Critical Hit Chance per 100 maximum life.
  • Non-Channeling Spells have 6% increased Damage per 100 maximum life.
  • Non-Channeling Spells have 3% increased Magnitude of Ailments per 100 maximum life.

The first two mods are great, but doesn’t really stack up against the mana-stacking version due to Archmage scaling. The red Cultivated Mod is what we’re after, and the guide will explain further how we exploit having a huge Life pool to make us extremely tanky and get extreme damage from Ignite.

The primary skill is Fire-Infused Ball Lightning, paired with Living Bomb on Cast on Elemental Ailment to give us unlimited Fire Infusions.

The reason we choose Acolyte is because of Red or Purple Flames on Into the Breach, providing either insane Life sustain (over 10,000 life/second) or up to 200% damage as Extra Chaos.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths
  • Fast mapping speed
  • High boss damage
  • Extremely high defensive max hit
Weaknesses
  • No Elemental Resistance (vulnerable to exploding ground)
  • Flying Expedition monsters fly over Ignited Ground
  • Rigid gearing options

Build Mechanics

This build wants to use Life as the primary way to scale both offense and defense. Life scales the following vectors:

  • Shock Magnitude: The magnitude of ailments we get from Life caps Shock Magnitude at its maximum of 100%.
  • Ignite Magnitude: Scales into the thousands of %, effectively meaning that we will be doing 200% or more of hit damage as Ignite.
  • Increased Damage: At 10,000 flat life, Rathpith Globe provides a minimum of 600% increased damage. With a proper Corruption, this goes to 700%.
  • Critical Hit Chance: At 10,000 flat Life, Rathpith Globe provides a minimum of 300% increased critical hit chance. With a proper Corruption, this goes to 400%.
  • Max Hit Pool: My character reached 16,000 flat Life after huge investment, but low to mid investment can easily reach 10,000 to 13,000 flat Life)
  • Lastly, we want to use Blackflame ring to change the ignite to chaos – removing the need to worry about penetrating fire resistance as 99% of monsters in the game DO NOT have chaos resistance.

The remaining damage vectors we want to scale are as follows:

  • Critical Damage Bonus
  • Damaging Ailments deal damage faster (or Ignite faster) – Passive nodes like “Burnout”
  • Damage as extra chaos or damage as extra fire.
  • Wither Magnitude

Skill Rotation

  • Animus Exchange provides the Ward we need to cast Powered by Verisium to get our initial Fire Infusions going.
  • Casting Fire-Infused Ball Lightning creates the ignited ground (Which the ignited ground itself can crit!)
  • The ignites generate Energy for Cast on Elemental Ailment provided by our Absent Amulet, which in turn casts Living Bomb for solid base base damage and unlimited Fire Infusions.
  • Utilizing second weapon set passive points for Remnant collection range and Curse Magnitude allows us to run a very strong Despair to boost the Ignite damage. Select Despair to only run in second weapon set in the additional tooltip settings on the skill gem in game. Place this down before tanky bosses or tanky expedition encounters.

Important Notes

A final note about how critical hit chance works with the ignited ground created by Ball Lightning; Ignited Ground ignites as though dealing Hit damage.

When critically hitting, lets assume a base crit bonus of 100%, so your ignited ground will ignite and do double damage that is shown in the above screenshot. This crit is calculated on cast, ensuring the entire duration of the ignited ground (4 seconds) will be a critical hit. Ignited ground functions in a way that the strongest instance of ignited ground will be what is applied – so even at 30-50% critical hit chance – we are almost always applying a critical hit.

Additionally, when using Blackflame – make sure the “reduced ignite duration” line is less than 80% or you will get the ignite under the calculation threshold of every .35 seconds – and it will make the ignited ground non-functional and deal no damage.

To maximize passive points, we put collection range of remnants on second weapon set, along with Curse Magnitude. The collection range will snapshot when you enter an instance, so if you use this tech, make sure you enter your maps in second weapon set so you are reliably collecting your flames.

Ascendancy

  1. Into the Breach: This ascendancy skill gives you an innate ability that spawns Flames of Chayula, These flames can be collected very easily using the tech above.
  2. Lucid Dreaming – Choice of Life: This forces all flames spawned to be Red Flames of Chayula. Each Flame leeches a base of 20% of your Life over 1 second. Remnant effect provided by the Ascendancy and Support Gem provides boosts to the base 20%. Additionally, increased Life Leech in tree takes this value to about 75% of your Life over 1 second, providing the best recovery resource in the game. Early on if you are struggling with damage, you can start by using Purple Flames of Chayula.
  3. Embrace the Darkness: Because the build uses Kaoms Heart – we have no need for spirit. Slot this in to get another hit pool of ~1000.
  4. Take the small passive nodes “Leech” and “Damage as Chaos” for the most consistent boons. There is an argument for Volatility if you want to manage it and gain even more damage as extra chaos.

Passive Tree

The tree provided is an endgame, min-maxed version of the tree. The primary goal is to get as much Life and Strength from the tree as possible, and utilize many jewels slots for the powerful effects of unique jewels. Not every unique jewel is required – the best ones to focus on in order are:

  • Grand Spectrum: Ruby x3 (Must have).
  • Heart of the Well: Extra Fire and Extra Chaos
  • Flesh Crucible: Blood Magic (downsides can be less mana, less spirit, less defenses). Can also path to Blood Magic early on if you can’t afford it.
  • Prism of Belief: +2 or +3 Ball Lightning.
  • From Nothing: Resonance to enable a very strong Time-Lost Jewel.
  • Megalomaniac: Any two useful nodes (Increased Max life you can’t reach on tree, crit bonus, ignite faster, damaging ailments faster, Strength, etc).

Once you have the “From Nothing” and a Time-Lost Jewel fill in the tree nodes For the Jugular, True Strike, Spaghettification, Event Horizon, Instability, Seeing Stars, Stylebender, Spell Blade, and Spell Haste.

Time-Lost Jewel Stats you are after:

  • Upgrades Radius to Very Large (Crafted modifier)
  • 1% Max Life Per Notable (Desecrated modifier)
  • Damaging Ailments Deal Damage 3% Faster
  • Critical Damage Bonus or Spell Critical Damage Bonus

Gem Info

Fetching data...
  • Esh’s Radiance is a lineage support gem that allows our chaos damage to Shock, while not 100% necessary getting started. It is the most reliable way to apply shock to enemies.
  • Xoph’s Pyre is a lineage support gem that allows chaos damage to boost ignite damage, this is a very powerful gem and should be prioritized very early.
  • Seraph’s Heart can help against elemental damage, but is not required. In order to socket the Spirit skills into “Into the Breach”, you will un-equip Kaoms and un-allocate Darkness. Make sure you have enough Spirit for the three gems, then re-equip Kaoms and re-allocate Darkness.

Instilling Your Amulet

The best anoint for this character will be Burnout (or anything you can find that best compliments the Megalomaniac you find).

High Budget Options

Either a Mageblood or Headhunter can be used in place of a rare belt.

Runeseeker’s Call is by far the best item for this build, however it is a completely sound and functioning build without using it.
