Introduction

The Lightning Warp Lich Witch is an insane speed-farming build, capable of destroying entire screens of enemies while flying through maps. Lightning Warp teleports you to Ball Lightning projectiles and enemies in culling range. Cast on Critical triggers Cold-Infused Spark to supplement damage output. Lighting Warps and Ice Nova deal devastating damage, fueled by the Lich’s Power Charge Tech to boost damage and provide infinite resources.

The default build version in this guide is a starter setup that can be played with a low investment. No Unique Items are required to begin. You need to have decent enough Rare Items with Energy Shield and Mana to survive. After you have the starter setup working properly, upgrade the build with the Flicker Warp Final Setup to instantly explode enemies and fly through maps.

A character level of at least 80 is recommended to start this endgame build. Follow the Ice Nova Leveling Build Guide or the Arc Leveling Build Guide to clear the campaign and get started in endgame maps.

Build Mechanics

Lich’s Power Charge Tech

The Lich Ascendancy is ideal for this build to utilize Power Charges for a damage boost and to rapidly recover Mana, which is also used as an effective hit pool. The Power Charge tech utilizes the following build mechanics:

  1. Elemental Equilibrium converts Lightning Infusions generated by Lightning Warp to Cold Infusions.
  2. Infusion of Power is anointed onto an Amulet to generate Power Charges when an Infusion is consumed.
  3. Cold Infusions are consumed by Ice Nova, supported by Unleash to generate 3 Power Charges in a single cast when seals are full. Spark also consumes Cold Infusions when triggered by Cast on Critical to automatically generate Power Charges.
  4. The Lich’s Price of Power consumes Power Charges when a Skill is manually cast to boost its damage by 40%.
  5. Well of Power and surrounding nodes recover 11% of Maximum Mana when a Power Charge is consumed. This rapidly restores Mana as the manually cast Ball Lightning, Lightning Warp, and Ice Nova Skills are spammed.

Resource

Mana is a primary concern for the typical spellcaster. The Mana costs of Skills continue to grow as you increase skill gem levels, and most support gems multiply costs even further. Take the following steps to ensure you sustain Mana costs:

  • Allocate Cost Efficiency and Mana Recovery nodes in the Passive Skill Tree.
  • Socket Efficiency II in the recommended Skill Gem Setup.
  • Aim for 4,000 to 5,000 Maximum Mana by stacking Mana and Energy Shield, as shown in the Stat Priority List for Gear. Energy Shield is converted to Mana by Eldritch Battery. Obtain at least 300 Mana Regeneration per Second with affixes on Jewellry.
  • Socket an Idol of Eeshta in your Helmet for 15% increased Cost Efficiency.
  • Obtain up to 26% increased Mana Cost Efficiency of Spells on both Rings (or one Ring with Kalandra’s Touch).
  • Utilize the Lich’s Power Charge Tech to rapidly restore Mana. Ensure you manually cast Ice Nova often to generate Power Charges if you do not yet have enough Critical Hit Chance and Damage to trigger Spark from Cast on Critical consistently.

Survivability

The Lightning Warp Lich equips gear with Maximum Mana and Energy Shield, which is converted to Maximum Mana by Eldritch Battery in the Passive Tree. Mind Over Matter is then allocated to utilize the large Maximum Mana pool as effective hit points for incoming damage. Maximum Mana is rapidly recovered with the Power Charge Tech. Aim for 4,000 to 5,000 Maximum Mana to survive comfortably.

Temporal Chains is socketed into Blasphemy to create a Curse Aura to automatically slow enemies for a significant boost to survivability. Once enough Spirit is obtained, Enfeeble is added to the Blasphemy setup to reduce damage from enemies.

Ice Nova with Unleash applies Chill/Freeze as an additional layer of defense.

Chaos Inoculation, allocated in the Passive Tree, grants immunity to Chaos Damage and Bleeding.

All Elemental Resistances should be capped at 75%.

Critical Hit Chance and Damage

Critical Hit Chance is almost impossible to cap, but aim for 80-90% for Lightning Warp with Pinpoint Critical. Increased Critical Hit Chance is more important than an equal-weight Critical Damage Bonus value to trigger Spark from Cast on Critical reliably, consuming Cold Infusions for the Lich’s Power Charge Tech.

The energy generation for Cast on Critical is modified by the amount of damage dealt on a Critical Hit, so the average damage per hit of Lightning Warp needs to be scaled in addition to a high Critical Hit Chance. Lightning Warp damage should be high enough to trigger Spark from a single Critical Hit, especially against bosses. A Skill Gem with a higher level and nodes in the Passive Tree increases the energy generation. The power and number of enemies hit also affect the energy generated.

Prioritize Critical Hit Chance and Damage from the following sources:

  • Obtain at least 80% Critical Hit Chance for Lightning Warp with Pinpoint Critical, combined with increased Critical Hit Chance nodes in the Passive Tree and suffixes on gear.
  • Stack Critical Damage Bonus and increased Spell Damage through nodes in the Passive Tree and affixes on gear.
  • Skill Levels of Lightning Warp are a massive boost to its base damage. Ensure you Level the Skill Gem as much as possible, up to 21 with a +1 corruption. Additional Levels can be granted through equipped Rare Items, including a Wand, a Focus, and an Amulet. Socket a Prism of Belief Diamond Jewel with +2 or +3 to Level of Lightning Warp.
  • Stack Maximum Mana to scale damage through Arcane Intensity and the Lich’s Blackened Heart.

Cast Speed

Cast Speed is another priority stat, after damage per hit, for smooth gameplay and to increase damage per second. Stack Cast Speed affixes on gear and nodes in the Passive Tree to spam Lightning Warp faster.

Optional: A high Cast Speed also benefits Spellslinger, which generates Energy based on the base Cast Time of the Spells you Cast. Spellslinger is unlocked by equipping a Dueling Wand, and a second Ball Lightning is socketed. The Spellslinger’s Ball Lightning does not have a Cast Time, so it can be used on demand while continuing to spam Lightning Warp.

Skill Rotation

Follow the basic skill rotation below to clear groups of enemies in maps:

  1. Cast Ball Lightning, supported by Multishot II and Unleash, to fire multiple projectiles.
  2. Cast Lightning Warp on Ball Lightning to teleport to them and cause an explosion. Damage dealt by Lightning Warp explosions generates Energy to trigger Ice Nova Cast on Critical. Continue to hold down the Lightning Warp button to jump on Ball Lightning projectiles and enemies in culling range.
  3. If you do not yet have enough Critical Hit Chance and Damage to trigger Spark consistently through Cast on Critical, weave in Ice Nova to generate Power Charges after gaining Cold Infusions from Lightning Warp.
  4. Optional: If a Dueling Wand is equipped to unlock Spellslinger, it can be used to cast additional Ball Lightning projectiles while continuing to spam Lightning Warp.

Execute the steps below to optimize damage against bosses:

  1. Optional: If a Chiming Staff is equipped in Weapon Set 2 to unlock Sigil of Power, cast it before the fight to buff damage output. Ensure all other Skills are set to only be used with Weapon Set 1 to automatically swap back.
  2. If you do not yet have Elemental Weakness socketed into Blasphemy, manually cast it to reduce the Resistance of the boss. Elemental Weakness can be pre-cast before a boss spawns when supported by Cursed Ground.
  3. Precast Frost Wall on top of the boss.
  4. Precast Frost Bomb to apply Elemental Exposure.
  5. Cast Ball Lightning, supported by Multishot II and Unleash, to fire multiple projectiles.
  6. Cast Lightning Warp on Ball Lightning to teleport to them and cause an explosion. Damage dealt by Lightning Warp explosions generates Energy to trigger Spark from Cast on Critical. Bosses with large hitboxes can cause Lightning Warp to fail if targeted instead of Ball Lightning projectiles. Try standing further away from bosses and aiming Ball Lightning to the side of the boss.
  7. Optional: If a Dueling Wand is equipped to unlock Spellslinger, it can be used to cast additional Ball Lightning projectiles while continuing to spam Lightning Warp.
  8. Weave in one manually cast Ice Nova occasionally when Unleash seal stacks are full.

Skill Gems, Spirit Gems, and Support Gems

The Lightning Warp Lich utilizes the following Skill Gems, Spirit Gems, and Support Gems. Gem Sockets are listed in order of priority.

A total of 176 Spirit is highly recommended to begin the Starter Setup, activating Blasphemy with Temporal Chains, Cast on Critical, and Mana Remnants. Obtain additional Spirit from any combination of a corrupted enchant on a Helmet and affixes on a Body Armour and an Amulet. Ensure you apply 20% Quality to Blasphemy to reduce its Reservation Cost.

The Final Setup can be selected from the tool’s drop-down menu. Ensure you follow the appropriate steps outlined in the Flicker Warp Final Setup section for the changes to function properly.

Optional: Spellslinger is unlocked by equipping a Dueling Wand. A second Ball Lightning is socketed into Spellslinger that does not have a cast time, so it can be used while spamming Lightning Warp for a smoother playstyle.

Alternative Setup: Sigil of Power is unlocked for a damage boost if you have a Chiming Staff equipped in Weapon Set 2. Ensure you set all your other skills to only be used with Weapon Set 1, so you automatically swap back. Sigil of Power is only possible if you are not using the Widowhail setup in Weapon Set 2.

If you prefer not to aim Ice Nova, replace Astral Projection with Magnified Area II.

The Skill Gem for Ball Lightning should be kept at Level 11 to reduce its Mana cost, since it is not relied upon to deal damage. All the other Skill Gems should be leveled as high as possible.

Perfect Jeweller’s Orb priority on Skill Gems: Lightning Warp > Ice Nova > Cast on Critical > Ball Lightning > Spellslinger > Blashphemy > Frost Wall > Frost Bomb.

Ascendancy

Lich is the recommended Ascendancy for the Lighting Warp Witch. The chosen Ascendancy can be switched within the base class by repeating your highest trial completion.

Allocate the Ascendancy nodes for Blood Mage in the following order:

  1. Price of Power — Manually cast Spells consume Power Charges to deal 40% more damage and recover 11% of Maximum Mana with Well of Power and surrounding nodes in the Passive Tree.
  2. Rupture the Soul — Explodes enemies for a satisfying clear.
  3. Necromantic Conduit and Blackened Heart — Provide an enhanced Unholy Might buff to grant Extra Chaos Damage, scaling as Maximum Mana is increased.

Passive Skill Tree

In the Passive Skill Tree, utilize attribute nodes to fulfill any Strength and Dexterity requirements, and then allocate the remaining points to Intelligence for Maximum Mana. Follow along as you level by using the left and right arrows in the tool to track the allocation order.

The Final Setup is viewable from its tab in the tool. Ensure you follow the appropriate steps in the Flicker Warp Final Setup section, as certain nodes do not work until you make changes to build.

Gear

The preferred gear for the Lightning Warp Lich is listed below, with affixes ranked by importance. Prioritize Rare Items with the correct base stats and beneficial explicit affixes. Recommended Unique Items are listed below the Rare Item table.

In Weapon Set 2, the following optional setups can be equipped:

  • Option 1: Equip Widowhail with a high “increased bonuses gained from Equipped Quiver” value and any Quiver with a high “increased Projectile Speed” value. Manually swap to Weapon Set 2 before casting Ball Lightning for the fastest traveling projectile to target with Lightning Warp for speeding through maps. Ensure all other Skills are set to only be used with Weapon Set 1 to automatically swap back.
  • Option 2: Equip a Chiming Staff to unlock Sigil of Power for a damage buff against bosses. Ensure all other Skills are set to only be used with Weapon Set 1 to automatically swap back after casting Sigil of Power.

Unique Items

The following recommended Unique Items for the Lightning Warp Lich are listed below:

  • Headhunter grants beneficial buffs while speed-farming maps, such as increased Area of Effect, additional Projectiles, increased Cast/Movement Speed, and damage boosts.
  • Kalandra’s Touch should be equipped as a second Ring when it is cheaper than your first Ring.
  • Myris Uxor enables the Flicker Warp playstyle in the Final Setup.

Jewels

The beneficial affixes for Jewels are listed below, ranked in order of importance. Prioritize Rare Jewels with two prefixes and two suffixes.

  • Prefixes
    1. Area of Effect
    2. Spell Damage
  • Suffixes
    1. Mana on Kill (only one Jewel with a 2% value is needed)
    2. Critical Hit Chance and/or Critical Hit Chance for Spells
    3. Critical Damage Bonus and/or Critical Spell Damage Bonus
    4. Cast Speed

In addition to the Rare Jewels, a Prism of Belief Unique Diamond with 2-3 Levels of Lightning Warp is a priority to increase damage output.

A Rare Jewel can be replaced by Heart of the Well with the following stat priority:

  1. Flicker Warp: 25% increased Culling Strike Threshold
  2. Mana Cost Efficiency
  3. Extra Cold Damage (increases Freeze buildup)
  4. Mana on Kill (only one Jewel with a 2% value is needed)
  5. Extra Lightning/Fire Damage or Skill Speed
  6. Critical Damage Bonus and/or Critical Spell Damage Bonus
  7. Critical Strike Chance and/or Critical Strike Chance for Spells

Campaign Buffs

Quest rewards during the campaign offer a selection of buffs to your character. Choose the following buffs for the build:

  • Valley of the Titans Altar: 30% increased Charm Charges gained
  • Venom Draught: 25% increased Mana Regeneration Rate
  • Trial of Ngkanu: Resistances
  • Goddess of Justice: 30% increased Mana Recovery from Flasks
  • Shark Fin: No benefits (you can save this reward in case you switch builds)
  • Seven Pillars: +5% to Elemental Resistances

For more details, check the guide on Campaign Difficulties and Permanent Stat Bonuses.

Flasks and Charms

Prioritize the following Flasks and Charms:

  • Health Flask: Not used
  • Mana Flask: Lavianga’s Spirits
  • Charms
    1. Thawing Charm: Increased Duration
    2. Stone Charm: Increased Duration
    3. Silver Charm: Increased Duration (The Fall of the Axe Unique Silver Charm preferred)

Flicker Warp Final Setup

The Final Setup for the Lightning Warp Lich updates the build with the Flicker Warp Tech for a smoother and easier playstyle, boosts damage output, and improves survivability.

The Flicker Warp Tech raises the Culling Strike Threshold of normal enemies to 100% Life, enabling Lightning Warp to be cast on them without needing to damage them first. This setup lets you instantly kill enemies and chain-teleport to them from any distance for the fastest speed farm.

A massive boost to damage output is granted by activating Archmage and Low Life status. Archmage provides Extra Lightning Damage that scales with Maximum Mana, multiplying damage output by about 2x. Low Life status enables Pain Attunement in the Passive Tree for 30% more Critical Damage Bonus and Execute III. The switch from Chaos Inoculation also allows Eldritch Empowerment to be allocated for 30% more damage.

Make the following changes to the starter version of the build. The steps should be completed in the order listed, as they are ranked by their most beneficial impact relative to the cost of the update.

  1. Once your damage is high enough to generate enough Energy, add Ball Lightning and Sione’s Temper to Cast on Critical, as shown in the Final Setup in the Skill Gem section. Ball Lighting projectiles are automatically triggered for an infinite Lightning Warp chain.
  2. Enable the Flicker Warp Tech by obtaining 186% increased Culling Strike Threshold from the following sources:
    • Equip Myris Uxor with at least 121% increased Culling Strike Threshold through corruption.
    • Socket Heart of the Well with a max-rolled 25% increased Culling Strike Threshold.
    • Respec to the Final Setup of the Passive Tree to allocate 40% increased Culling Strike Threshold.
  3. Socket Rakiata’s Flow to easily run Maps with the increased enemy Resistances mod, replacing Deliberation in Lightning Warp. Remove Frost Bomb and Lightning Exposure from the build entirely, as they are no longer beneficial.
  4. Enable Archmage and Low Life status with the following steps:
    • Archmage significantly increases the Mana Costs of Spells, so ensure you have at least 5,500 Maximum Mana, 500 Mana Regen per Second, and all the sources of Mana Efficiency mentioned in the Resource section before obtaining Atziri’s Communion. Lighting Warp’s Critical Hit Chance should be above 90% to ensure consistent activation of the Power Charge Tech to restore Mana.
    • Socket Atziri’s Communion into a new Archmage setup for a massive boost to damage output.
    • Unallocate Chaos Inoculation so Life can be reserved to activate Archmage. Quality can be applied to the Archmage Skill Gem if you socket Clarity II to maintain Low Life status. Ensure your Life is under 35% after activating Archmage.
    • You should aim for at least 50% Chaos Resistance through suffixes on equipped Rare Items, since you no longer have immunity to Chaos Damage from Chaos Inoculation.
    • Allocate Pain Attunement in the Passive Tree.
    • Convert 5% of Maximum Life to Energy Shield with Enchanted Barrier in the Passive Tree, so Energy Shield can be sacrificed by Eldritch Empowerment to deal 30% more Damage.
    • Socket Execute III in Lightning Warp, replacing Unleash.
  5. Equip an Absent Amulet that grants Cast on Critical, at least 39 additional Spirit, and 2-4 additional Levels of All Spell Skills. This Cast on Critical does not reserve any Spirit and replaces the previously socketed Meta Gem.
    • With 139 total Spirit, socket Enfeeble as a second Curse Aura in the Blasphemy setup. If you have an extra 10 Spirit, socket Clarity I into Mana Remnants.
    • A Spirit prefix is no longer needed from an equipped Body Armour, so you can replace it with a 20% increased Maximum Mana prefix instead.
