Introduction
The Oil Barrage Ice Nova Shaman Druid is a top-tier endgame starter build I (Lexyu) designed to help you easily climb to Tier 15 maps after finishing the campaign. A hybrid setup allows for an effective combination of Spells and Attacks.
Oil Barrage deals devastating single-target damage to quickly destroy bosses.
Ice Nova explodes in a massive area, clearing an entire screen of enemies.
The default build in this guide is a starter setup you can play with a low-to-moderate investment. No Unique Items are required to begin. The starter setup scales Critical stats, so I highly recommend having a Staff and Talisman with increased Critical Hit Chance affixes. A Character Level of at least 75 is also necessary to allocate Critical nodes in the Passive Tree.
If you are starting a new character or are not yet ready for the Critical swap, follow the Oil Barrage Druid Leveling Build Guide.
Strengths and Weaknesses
- Optimal Skills selected to climb to Tier 15 maps.
- Insane single-target damage with Oil Barrage, empowered by Power Charges generated from Infusion of Power.
- Instantly Freezes enemies with Ice Nova for a safe playstyle.
- Hybrid setup requires 2 different weapons and weapon set points.
- Multiple button combo playstyle needed to generate Infusions and Power Charges.

Build Mechanics
Power Charge Tech
Without Power Charges,
Oil Barrage is not a viable damage dealer. The Power Charge tech utilizes the following build mechanics:
Frost Bomb,
Snap, and
Siphon Elements generate Cold Infusions.
Ice Nova consumes Cold Infusions to boost its Area of Effect and Damage.- Infusion of Power, anointed onto an Amulet, generates Power Charges when an Infusion is consumed.
Oil Barrage consumes 3 Power Charges to empower its Attack, sustaining a 4.5 second Channel of projectiles.
Resource
Mana can become an issue for the typical spellcaster. Skill Mana costs keep rising as you increase skill gem levels, and most support gems multiply them even further. Take the following steps to ensure you sustain Mana costs:
- Allocate Arcane Remnants and Efficient Casting in the Passive Skill Tree.
- Activate
Mana Remnants with the proper Skill Gem Setup to recover and overflow Maximum Mana. - Equip a decent Mana Flask and get used to pressing the button to consume it.
Survivability
The Hybrid Druid build utilizes Life, Energy Shield, and Evasion to enhance survivability. Aim for 2,900 Life, 1,400 Energy Shield, and 5,600 Evasion Rating to survive comfortably. Get started with the following setups:
- Equip gear with high Energy Shield and Evasion.
- Increase Energy Shield and Evasion with Passive Tree nodes and Amulet affixes.
- Obtain Maximum Life as a prefix on equipped gear.
- Apply Chill/Freeze with
Ice Nova as an additional layer of defense. - Socket
Temporal Chains into
Blasphemy to create a Curse Aura that automatically slows enemies, significantly boosting survivability. - Cap all Resistances at 75%.
Damage
Oil Barrage snapshots Damage modifiers when Channeling begins. Critical Hit Chance is rolled once for the entire duration of a channeled Oil Barrage, despite what its Sustained tag says. Cap Oil Barrage’s Critical Hit Chance at 100% through the following sources for consistent damage output:
- Equip a Spiny Talisman (11% base Critical Hit Chance) with up to a 5% added Critical Hit Chance affix for as much as 16% base Critical Hit Chance.
- Socket
Pinpoint Critical into
Oil Barrage for 60% more Critical Hit Chance. - Activate
Charge Regulation (Level 16 Spirit Gem) for 25% more Critical Hit Chance. - With a 16% base Spiny Talisman, 213% increased Critical Hit Chance is needed to cap. The remaining stats can be obtained from Passive Tree nodes, Jewels, and a Helmet affix.
Ice Nova is harder to cap Critical Hit Chance because its base is 12%. Use the First Hit tech to at least guarantee Critical Hits against Full Life enemies:
- Obtain increased Critical Hit Chance from Passive Tree nodes, Jewels, a Helmet affix, and a Staff affix to reach at least 50% for
Ice Nova. - Socket
Ambush into
Ice Nova to double its Critical Hit Chance against Full Life enemies. The First Hit tech guarantees a Critical Hit to kill most enemies in one shot.
Critical Damage Bonus, Skill Levels, Increased Damage, and Extra Damage are also important scalars for
Ice Nova. Ensure you obtain the following sources:
- Level the Skill Gem as much as possible, up to 21 with a +1 corruption.
- Allocate Endless Blizzard and damage nodes in the Passive Tree.
- Insert Rare Jewels with Critical Damage Bonus.
- Equip a Rare Staff with increased Spell Damage, Extra Damage, and Cold Spell Skill Levels
- Equip a Rare Amulet with Spell Skill Levels and Critical Damage Bonus.
- Equip Rare Gloves with Critical Damage Bonus.
- Socket a Prism of Belief Diamond Jewel with +2 or +3 to Level of
Ice Nova.
Skill Rotation
The basic combo of
Ice Nova and
Snap should clear most enemies. Include
Frost Bomb if you need to generate Cold Infusions at the start of a map.
Execute the full rotation below to optimize damage against bosses:
- Precast
Frost Bomb to generate Cold Infusions. Keep refreshing Frost Bomb when the boss spawns to apply Exposure. - Optional: If a Chiming Staff is equipped, cast
Sigil of Power before the fight to boost damage output. - Once the fight begins, hit the boss with
Pounce to apply
Freezing Mark and
Mark for Death. - Cast
Ice Nova three times to generate Power Charges. Continue hitting the boss with Ice Nova if not yet Frozen. - When the boss is Frozen, hit with
Shred (select Wearwolf form) to apply Blind, break Armour, and build Rage. Shred can be weaved in-between casts of
Ice Nova to preemptively build Rage. - Hold down
Oil Barrage for a sustained channel to deal damage.
Skill Gems, Spirit Gems, and Support Gems
The Oil Barrage Shaman utilizes the following Skill Gems, Spirit Gems, and Support Gems. Gem Sockets are listed in order of priority.
A total of 171 Spirit is required to begin the Starter Setup, activating
Blasphemy with
Elemental Weakness,
Mana Remnants,
Siphon Elements, and
Charge Regulation with
Clarity II. Apply 20% Quality to Blasphemy to reduce its Reservation Cost. The Shaman’s ascendancy node, Sacred Flow, grants 80 additional Spirit when you have 2 empty Charm slots. Make sure you get the 100 base Spirit from campaign rewards.
The Final Setup, selected from the tool’s drop-down menu, adds
Temporal Chains as a second Curse Aura to
Blasphemy. Obtain at least 25 additional Spirit from an Amulet affix. Use any remaining Spirit to socket
Clarity I or
Clarity II into
Charge Regulation.
Optional:
Sigil of Power is unlocked by equipping a Chiming Staff and provides a buff for more damage.
Perfect Jeweller’s Orb priority on Skill Gems: Oil Barrage (single-target damage) and Ice Nova (area clear).
Ascendancy
The Shaman is the recommended Ascendancy for the Oil Barrage Druid. You can switch the chosen Ascendancy within the base class by repeating your highest trial completion.
Allocate the Ascendancy nodes for Shaman in the following order:
- Wisdom of the Maji — Gain the benefits of Bonded modifiers on Runes and Idols.
- Sacred Flow — Grants 80 additional Spirit when 2 Charm slots are empty.
- Reactive Growth and Avatar of Evolution — Enhances survivability against Elemental and Physical damage.
Passive Skill Tree
In the Passive Skill Tree, use attribute nodes to meet any Intelligence and Dexterity requirements, then allocate the remaining points to Strength for Maximum Life. As you level up, use the left and right arrows in the tool to track the allocation order.
